Ok /cgl/ I need some help. I'm currently living in Korea and I'm going to go to Comic World next month. I really want to cosplay but I'm not here long enough to buy a sewing machine and it be worth it. I'd rather use my own hair but I can get a wig if no one can really think of anything but it probably can only be shades of black or brown. Help me out? I'm thinking Hawkguy at the moment. Anime and Comic books are fine, I'm used to making mid tier difficulty cosplays so I'm sure I can figure out how to closet cosplay some character, as long as it doesn't require too many materials I can't find.

I have a couple of pounds of chain I'm going to augment it with, but if that's not enough, any good material for tying it together? You can't actually see the sternum or the back of the chainmail under other parts of the costume.

Also, I got some chain leggings with black grease/paint on them that I didn't realize was there. What's the best way to get rid of it? Just detergent and dish soap or paint thinner?

I'm thinking fujita in pic related, since he's recognizable (although the series itself is rather obscure) and can be mostly closet-cosplayed with some minor modifications. The ushanka hat thing might be impractical in Korean August, though, so that's something to take into consideration.

Cosplaying decent video game characters is gonna be hard, particularly because gamers are nitpicky as fuck. We can help but I'm gonna need more than that- give us a list of what video games he's most interested in.

It's not a good idea to just coplay whatever either, you have to really love and enjoy the suit- get something you're proud of and won't throw away instantly.

I not sure if this is the thread to ask but I am more interested in knowing about which cons to go too instead of the cosplay it self. I never have done it before and just picked some simple things I think I may be able to pull off.

And thanks! But I'm not very close to being done. All I did was bought the materials and measured everything so it would fit and have cut out the shapes of her stuff.
Since I have all the shapes cut out and found a good material to use I need to cut out the details in the middle of the arm parts without messing up and giving my stuff dents, paint it all gold, and add some fake gems that won't look cheap! That won’t take very long but after this I’m going to have to make her belt and that’s going to take a lot of work to make look nice.
And cool about the cosplay! I hope you have fun with it and that one's good to do because you can find a lot of the clothes online and in stores so you won't have to sew all of it or buy a premade cosplay and it will still look accurate.

Honestly, I kind of envy people that have the skill to make everything from scratch. It must be incredible to spend that much time on something, have it come out amazing, and then show off for a weekend.

Most of the stuff I want to cosplay is either really out of my reach (e.g. I would need tons of help) or is of characters that aren't completely fictional and are modeled after things that really exist. I don't know, it could still be fun.

Sounds like you're making good progress on yours, though! Do you have to plan out everything you're going to do?

have you got any suggestions for short haired characters for me? I'm looking for something to wear for a summer convention and I can't stand long wigs in the heat... Short skirts are ok, although I don't want it to be too revealing. As you can see I'm not the skinniest so I prefer characters with fuller figures and don't think I'm suited to cosplay (most) young characters (although if I love the character too much I can't resist)

From my ideas so far only Misha seems to be wearable in summer so if you've got any more ideas what could suit me - shoot!

My most recent cosplay is on the lower right, although I included this mainly because it shows me without glasses... Thanks for the help!
