With the convention being less than a week away, I think we need to start an SDCC General thread.

Who's going? What are you wearing? Any panels you're looking forward to? Any drama to be had?

The /cgl/ gatherings will be held outside on the stairs inbetween halls C and D every night at 8pm for maximum seagull exposure. People have panels or stuff to do some nights, so if you can make it one night, awesome, and if you can't make it another night, that's awesome too. Here's a topdown view of the map of the meetup location: http://goo.gl/maps/HA74q

Are your wallets ready?

Can I attend the gathering even if I'm an anon? Or is it just going to be a tripfag circle jerk?

>> No.6967856

>>6967851
Anons are always welcome! The SDCC gatherings are much less circlejerky than say ALA or AX. We all talk about what we've seen or done over the day or just shoot the breeze and nerd out or discuss cosplay or other cosplayers.

Last year we got so engrossed in eachother's company we moved the gathering into the lobby of a nearby hotel and chilled there until about 2am.

>> No.6967863

Are we meeting on Wednesday too?

Also I just realized that since I'm not in Hotel Circle this year I won't get stuck in the horrible, horrible Town and Country traffic. The road is not meant for all the vehicles that will be there. Do not go to the Town and Country on Wednesday if at all possible.

Yeah, we also meet on Preview night. Also, this just in:

>You will need your 2013 badge to register for 2014!

>Preregistration for Comic-Con International 2014 attendee badges will be available online sometime after the convention. There will be no onsite preregistration at Comic Con 2013. Only those that have purchased a Comic-Con 2013 4-Day attendee or 1-Day attendee badge AND retain their actual badge will be eligible to participate in 2014 online preregistration.

>To participate in Comic-Con International 2014 preregistration, you must retain your Comic-Con 2013 badge. Please do not throw away, give away, or lose your Comic-Con 2013 badge as it contains valuable information required to participate in preregistration.

It being 5 days away hasn't sunk into my head yet

I have an extra Saturday and Sunday I need to figure out what to do with. It'd be a lot simpler if they let you pick them up on the same day instead of having to go twice and wait in line twice. Or even let you pick up the badge the day before.

I might have to just sacrifice the two and count that $70 as a loss.

8pm on the steps between C and D every night of the convention (not sure about Sunday, but I'll be gone by then)
just look for a random assortment of people and a guy who looks like Dr. Freeman.

the number one thing to brace yourself for is.... it'll be crowded. Panel lines will be long. Have fun with it. Also watch out for the Town and Country pickup traffic. it was HORRIBLE last year because it's a two lane road and there's going to be a million people wanting to pick up their badge. I assume it's that bad every year.

USE IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
you can get better seating thanks to the ADA. I heard a lot of stuff about how last year there were issues getting people into position who needed it so hopefully they don't fuck up this year. Insist as much as possible, ask for managers, etc. The grunts probably have no clue about what to do (again) but someone in there will.

We plan too, but I saw people last year with chairs trying to get through crowds and stuff... it is going to be hard. Not to mention I have no upper body strength. We went to the Zoo a while back, the next day my shoulders felt like they were ripped out. That was only for five hours one day, I don't even want to know how much SDCC is going to kill me.

Mostly I am trying to figure out the reg line for people with chairs... surprisingly there is little info on the website.

I guess, but other guides I have read mention going there only after you have your badge so that they can put a special sticker on you and your assistant's badges, but that is not made very clear here (See: not mentioned at all).

it's a lot more than $8 now. they want full badge price. there's also people saying that you get to do that once and then you're blacklisted from doing it again but you can probably get around the blacklist somehow (multiple memberID accounts and IDs with matching addresses?)
