I don't think this is fair. Not everyone wants to spend lots of time/money on a cosplay. Some people just enjoying being able to dress up for a weekend and play pretend. It's entirely unfair to hold them up to professional standards, or compare them to people who bought their costumes out right.

/cgl bad cosplay threads are not about mocking people with bad cosplays. Yeah some asshats do that, but the heart of these threads is to have a good laugh, maybe feel nostalgic about when you were a beginner, and maybe learn to be a better cosplayer yourself. This is a competitive hobby after all.

I'd rather someone do this than make drills where the drill color is totally different from the bade wig color. Note that when someone has pigtails their hair parts, it's not like you just add drills into an overly fluffy base wig.
Maybe I'm lucky (VERY lucky), but the Mami in this thread is one of the worst I've seen.

In some cases yes, but would Edward Elric? Hell no. It's blatantly out of character.
