I've had almost every other Animal Crossing, but am saving for a cosplay and can't get New Leaf! I'm sad, this game looks like a lot of fun. Also the new Mermaid Series looks so adorable.

Is there any connectivity between New Leaf and City Folk? City Folk is only $20 where I live and I wasn't sure if I should pick it up. I've got New Leaf coming in a few days.

It's a QR code. Usually they can be scanned by smartphones and are used to link to websites/images/whatever, but in this version of Animal Crossing you scan it with the built-in camera and it imports the design. Much better than trying to recreate it pixel-by-pixel like in the old DS and Gamecube versions haha.

Every day a rock spawns that you hit with a shovel and a gemstone comes out, when you unlock Cyrus you can get him to customise your furniture with the gemstone (or you can just sell it)
There's also a money rock, once you find it it'll always be the same rock so you don't have to go searching for it like the Gemstone.
