I've seen several cosplayers who simply pop out the other lens of a pair of sunglasses to cosplay Vriska.

Does anyone know a good site to find some cheap glasses?
I think I'd rather have the lenses in and cover the other side with a grey.. material.. But I'm still not really sure what to do.. the other side doesn't look very sun glass-y to me..

Look for vintage glasses, I think those will work. I'm not sure how to properly describe them, but I'll try: clear lenses, shaped like aviator sunglasses. That way, you can just cover up one lens with something black.

Alternatively, you could try that one Etsy store people go to for their Dirk glasses, but that would run you a bit of money.

Looking to be Dreamer! Dirk for a con this summer, while I can get his regular outfit along the way for meets or even other days of the con (his regular outfit is ridiculously simple anyway: I can just buy the shirt off of wp, and I've got jeans I already use).

Thing is, how do I go about the Dreamer outfit? I don't know how to make things or sew things so I usually rely on commissions, which haven't been too bad, but I'm also wondering if there are any alternatives, like, would I be able to buy the shirt and pants anywhere, maybe get a shirt, print on the moon and then have someone add the extra parts (the shoulders, for one)? On top of that, there have been disputes over what the colour of the outfits are. Many people go for a deep / royal purple (I don't know how to properly describe it, pardon) like two Strider cosplays that have been posted earlier, which did look very nice, and yet, I can see why people would do that since the artwork for Derse is somewhat more of that colour, but canonically the outfits are more... leaning towards a shade resembling pink and purple? Again, pardon, I don't know how to describe the colours.

If you don't know how to sew, your dreamer outfit is either going to be a hot mess. The cut of his shirt, the collar, the puff sleeves, the decoration on the shirt and pants-they all require sewing. Also, you're not going to find any clothes you can buy that look like dreamer clothes. Sorry.

If you need to go to WP for the shirt-when you can easily buy a white t-shirt and an iron-on pack for much cheaper-then it sounds like you don't have very good cosplay skills and should stick to simple things for now.

Different anon here. I agree that dreamers is too challenging to try to make - a commission is fine! As long as you are not claiming you made it there is NO shame in commissioning.

There is also NO shame in being new to sewing! I would suggest experimenting with some fabrics and patterns, if you go to a store like Jo Ann's, they could point you to some super simple ones to start with. Once you get some practice in, try tackling more complex things! Good luck!

I always thought Dreamer outfits were... at a range of simple to complicated, because many people go on towards complicated with the fancy designs and all. Regular dreamers would be a good costume to do after you have had a few good sewing experiences under your belt. They may not be as complex as fancy dreamers, but there is still a lot to do. As the previous anon had said, there are puffed sleeves, applique details, and a very atypical collar. To have it look clean, you need a lot of different skills under your belt.

It all depends on you, and how much time you are willing to put in. But personally i would say no - it requires a LOT of practice. I would say commission it!

Also, don't listen to the last anon about ALL fancy dreamers being bad. Many are, particularly when using Mookie's designs, as they do not translate well into real life. But some ARE well done IMHO.

Still, I would stay away from fancy, and stick to getting a basic dreamer commission.

Yeah... I'm probably going to get it commissioned. I'm going to be pretty busy in July dealing with other things and working on my other cosplays (gotta fix up my God Tier John cosplay, for one), as well as summer school.

I've seen some pretty nice fancy Dreamers in person last week but there seems to be a stigma on them here. Regardless I wouldn't do fancy Dreamer just yet, maybe if I found a group of fancy Dreamers, but for now I'll just be doing regular Dreamer Dirk since he pretty much stands on his own.

I've mentioned it before, but I'm planning to do Dreamer! Dirk, AS WELL AS his regular outfit. I'm considering Jake English as well but I'd want to focus on one at a time.

I'm also going to fine tune my God Tier John and God Tier Dave cosplays, maybe even my regular Dave (adorn him with better glasses and maybe even a sword). And while not HS related I might work on an Adventure Time cosplay.

What kind of horns? If they're smaller like Vantas or Pyrope ones, barrettes work great. For bigger ones, I'd recommend screwing them into a headband for more stability instead of just attaching them to the wig. Otherwise you might end up with floppy horns.
