I just saw this on the tumblrs.
I'm not a fan of Monster High, and it looks like this is pretty similar, but I'm a sucker for these loli-esque designs. I think that the Goldilocks chick so far has the best coord, though, some of them are kind of ita.

Yes, but in the context of Ever After High attempting to be a brand like Monster High, they should make the character's appearances much more... obvious, I guess, to put it simply.

Watched the 3 previews off of youtube. It looks cute, gonna get a few of the dolls, but I don't get some of the things in it, like Cheshire Cat's daughter is a normal human girl with a cat eared hat. Also Red Ridding Hood's kid is also a werewolf...is Red a werewolf now too, or did she bang the wolf?
Mad Hatter's is cute even if ita because she's just the right amount of mad and there is no sign of Alice yet. Thank god for that

I think the problem is that Raven has black hair. Giving Snow's daughter black hair when they're meant to be rivals/foils/whatever because of ~destiny~ would make the branding confusing for little girls.

I mean, society and the toy market especially have more or less established that when you have two characters, the blonde one is good while the dark/black haired one is evil.

This goes all the way back to the 80s with the toy-cartoon franchises of the era. She-Ra toys (Adora = Blonde, her friends = pastel hair; Catra = Black hair, other minions = no hair or "sickly" colours) as well as Lady Lovely Locks (again, main character is blonde with pastel or brunette haired friends; Duchess Raven Waves had black hair and 'dark' coloured minions). Same goes for My Little Pony (Megan and Molly = good, Witches = black and bright, fiery red), the more recent Barbie and Tinkerbell movies.

The only series I can think of that breaks that repeatedly is Jem and the Holograms. Their man antagonists had equally bright hair to the protagonist's pastel styles.

Also, yeah. I know. I watch too many cartoons. I've got a niece that I babysit and she loves this shit. She'll probably be asking for EAH soon enough.

The fact that it's a spinoff makes it sorta better. I was bothered by the fact that OP's picture seemed like a MH rip off. Then I saw Cupid in the intro.

Honestly, I don't know why this is a separate line to MH. I think it would be better and less confusing if these girls were released as characters in the MH franchise than as their own line.

Huh. I'd expect this sort of conversation on /co/ (Gawd, I haven't been there in ages). I've honestly just heard of this now. I'm sure that it's a typical, plotless show for girls, but I'm bored as fuck seeing how everyone in my apartment is gone, it's raining, and I don't have work until next week, so I might give this a shot. Kind of interested in the future cosplays though. MH cosplays usually turn out cool.

It makes more sense to have them as separate entities. Monster High franchise as a whole already has tons of dolls with a similar base model. Having a separate line with a whole new cast of characters and a new base model makes it more marketable. Mattel is also expanding this type of franchise with future spin off series after this one, focused on different themes. It sort of reminds me of Harry Potter.. while Hogwarts is the school of England, there are other wizarding schools all over.

I love it. The clothes are so pretty and I just find it so inspiring. I fear the dolls wont live up to the prettiness of the cartoons, though.

Anyway, I'm unnaturally excited about EAH. It's definitely a plotless kiddy show at this point, but something just draws me to it. I never liked Monster High because I felt it was trying too hard to be ~gawthic edgy grundgy hardcore~, and I'm more of a girly-girl.

My one concern is that when people approach lolitas now, they'll ask if we're cosplaying EAH. But I suppose I'd prefer it to bo-peep or Dorothy.

Hmm I absolutely love Monster High, but this isn't doing it for me. I think it's because Monster High combines something not cute with something cute. This is just cute mixed with more cute.

I will admit though that the clothes in MH are awful, and the outfits in Ever After look much better (but still not great).

You must've never worked in consumer products or the fashion industry. Lolita fashion may not be well known to the general population but people who work to market products do their research. Hell, they even have trend books forecasting trends for the next couple years with obscure finds like a tunic someone saw in Peru or a selection of unique color combos from an Indian wedding. The toys still sell, and other shows cover the kind of girls that are just like you were, for example EQG. Besides these shows are based on stereotypes, so they obviously won't get into specifics. They wanna aim at a general audience and it works, so there.

Also, some women have a higher tolerance to pain than others. Some women even feel pain when they're not wearing heels. I can run in heels and not feel tired or sore after taking them off, it all depends on each woman.

Same here. I've been wearing heels since I was twelve. My mother and grandmother let me wear them and we all love shoes and high-heels. I like wearing heels (the higher the better, since I'm a little short) and I do on an almost daily basis. I can run, jump and go about my day with them the same as I do with flat shoes, really. So I guess it really just depends on a person's preference and tolerance to it.

This. I'm pretty short for my area (I'm 5'0 when most girls my age are between 5'5-5'7) so heels make me feel a lot less vulnerable. Also, I had this bad habit of walking on my tiptoes when I was a kid and I never grew out of it, so heels are a godsend for me. Flat shoes are uncomfortable now. I also used to walk on tiptoes all the time (still do). Went to my doctor recently after having some pain when wearing nonheeled shoes - turns out, I fucked up my legs through it. Can't bend my knee too far forwards now, though there are exercises to fix it. Maybe go to your doctor and see if there's anything that can be done to make flat shoes comfy for you.
