Hey guys, I haven't cosplayed since 2010 and haven't been keeping up to date with anything. Are there any new conventions that are worth going to?

I'm going to Hyper Japan, Tokonatsu and LFCC. July is looking like a good month for me! No more cosplay until Toko, though, just can't be arsed.

Ayacon and Expo is all that's left for me this year because of school. :< Praying that my schedule will get better once I've finished this schoolyear.
Got 10 cosplays planned for this and next year atm. 5 are sort of done, just needs to be fitted, wigs styled and accessories made. No need for me to stress things!

The makeup of the people who attend the cons is generally lots of small (5-15 people) and extremely cliquey groups though.

There are some good cosplayers but very few who consistently produce good costumes year after year.

Many of the good cosplayers are increasingly overlooked though in favour of attractiveness and attention whoring. Although all cons suffer from this whichever country you live in. Unless someone seriously wants to suggest that games like Lolipop Chainsaw and Darkstalkers have a fandom heavily populated by hot girls.

There are some good cosplayers but very few who consistantly produce good costumes.

I was chatting to some friends innovated in euro cosplay turns out at the qualification stage almost anything goes to let all the different conventions round Europe run how ever they want but once qualified then the rules get very stiff

I don't know if the finals rules are stiff as such - e.g only broadcast/published sources allowed, no OCs, etc - it's just a way to make it a little fair for all finalists?

Yeah I think it's a case of OCs/original designs allowed for qualifiers, but canon designs only for the finals, to make it fair for everyone.

I'm looking forward to Manchester Expo. Mainly use it as an excuse to have a weekend away with friends, do a little cosplay and enjoy the weather.

I was surprised that there wasn't an Expo thread too. Though at least, since time has elapsed, Foxy, Pouncy and Nert have their Expo coverage up.

There was lots of great stuff in the masquerade on Saturday. Didn't see Sunday as I could only go one day. Loved the Dani that won though. I loved her idea of combining aspects from the show for her costume. She was great on stage too, I was mesmerized at least.

Actually I saw them. I was posting improvements we could do for the next Seagull Meet some time after the drama.

I know the drama mostly consisted of Liam hating, Eva leaving the meet with her BF (after some arguement), the main meet splitting off into two groups (trip-fags group and anon group), the other meet failed (on Saturday) and there was a barely successful meet on Sunday (which was a revival of the failed meet on Saturday).

Problem is no one asks for 'more experienced' cosplayers. All event organisers can go on is places like here & FB where people only mention Ai Honey and such. If you want better cosplayers to go to be considered as guests then go make a fuss about them.

I also know a lot of the older guys aren't as interested in promoting themselves or being center of attention. Which probably makes them better liked, but less likely to be picked as a guest.
