no seriously. there was no playlist, just a pile of CDs that were in like no fucking order at all. the list of walkons/skits didn't have group names or (for skits) what series the characters were from. the guy running the laptop with the sound was not told anyone's audio cues and he totally botched some folks' audio.

i feel bad for the kid who was the coordinator...he was really nice and very accommodating to the participants but obviously had zero experience running this big of an event. he really needed another coordinator/senoir person to guide him.

I just got back home! It was so much fun. I haven't been to fanime in years and I wasn't expecting such a crowd, but holy shit Steam Powered Giraffe was there and that was soooo coooool!

But now let me tell you about four hours ago;
On our way home on the 208 south, a car came flying over the barrier (I think, it happened really fast. they may have just hit it) and turned over right in front of us at 80mph. We were able to stop before hitting them and my boyfriend and roommate jumped out to help (I had no idea they could run so fast!), also luckily an ambulance was just driving past so they were right there when it happened.

So let me stop and tell you about modern car engineering, it is fucking fantastic. This was a terrifying crash and I have never heard anything so loud, but absolutely everyone walked away. I was on the phone in a panic being absolutely useless to 911 (always pay attention to your surroundings and where you are btw, don't be like me) when I look up and everyone who was in that car is out of it and walking to the EMTs, it seemed that the only injuries were some cuts and bruises on the driver. So go hug an engineer, and always buckle your fucking seatbelt guys.

The people in the car were also Fanime Attendees so if anybody knows them go give them some hugs too, I am fairly certain they were in shock and holy shit I cannot even imagine how terrifying that must have been for them.

I don't know who won, but I don't think they ever make it clear that you can only qualify for best in show if you're judged on both craftsmanship AND performance. I know that has led to butthurt in the past
