>What's your routine.
MAC Matte-ifying creme used as prime, MAC SPF 35 Studio Finish concealer to cover faint beard shadow which is slowly going disappear (three sessions of laser hair removal so far)
I'm satisfied with the resulting looks so far but I've been trying to subtly add a little bit more femininity without going all out drag queen.

Today I went in for a little retail therapy and picked up an urban decay naked basics eyeshadow palette and one good brush from Sephora. I followed this video tutorial as closely as I can and while I wouldn't go out looking the way I do right now, I'm confident I can settle into a routine I like.

My general daily routine:
-Too Faced face & eyeshadow primers (I like UD's eyeshadow primer too, but the TF works better for me personally)
-Covergirl Natureluxe foundation (in the market for a new one that's paler, though)
-Too Faced matte palette to fill in eyebrows (mostly the dark brown with some of the dark gray mixed in)
-Urban Decay Naked palette (5 most used colors marked)
-Maybelline Line Stiletto eyeliner
-Chanel mascara (sadly a sample size, this stuff is awesome)
-Covergirl classic blush in silk rose
-Maybelline mineral power finishing veil translucent powder

On days I have little time, I narrow it down to foundation + fill in brows + mascara + a bit of blush so I don't look like I'm dying.
Being really pale means that I always get asked if I'm sick if I wear zero makeup.

Mineral makeup question:

I keep seeing it said that using mineral makeup, such as Bare Minerals, will "improve skin".
Does this mean that your skin will get better if you switch from regular makeup, or does it improve skin overall (whether you do or do not wear makeup at all)?

(disclaimer: I know all skin is different, and not all things work the same for everyone, etc,etc - but this is the claim I've been hearing in regards to the "majority" of users).

If you're looking to be subtle with your make up, go with neutrals. I'd recommend a brown kohl eyeliner over something black, and for now avoid liquid/gel/brightly colored eyeliners. The Naked palettes are great for adding subtle shimmer and shine without looking ridiculous as far as eyeshadows go. I'd recommend a good lip gloss/lip stain to add a bit of color, like the Tarte Lipsurgence, for something nice but not over the top. I'd recommend against mascara for an everyday look, and save that for going out/special occasions instead. Good luck, and post pics if you're comfortable doing so!

>> No.6831323

>>6831322
>I'd recommend against mascara for an everyday look
I'd disagree, mascara is the one single product I make sure to wear if I'm going to wear makeup at all. As long as the product isn't something that's extremely volumising or lengthening, it generally looks really natural. Takes a lot less longer to apply than eyeshadows too.

Agreed on this point. If I had to choose between mascara and eyeliner for everyday, I would choose the mascara.
Eyeliner, and eyeshadow, ends up looking too jarring with worn without mascara, imo, but mascara can look fine on its own.

If you're worried about it being too dark, there are more mascara colours than just black.
I'm pretty fair, and my lashes and brows are blonde as fuck, so I wear brown mascara for a daily, minimal look, and go for black when I'm full-out.

>> No.6831333

>>6831325
Start with a haircut, I would say. I won't make suggestions as to what kind right now, since I don't know how liberal you are with what you'd allow done to your hair.

As for makeup, you look pretty as it is. If you want to try stuff out, start with a BB cream, mascara (black or brown), eyeliner (black or brown; pencil or cream), and neutral eyeshadows (browns) for basics. It's hard to mess up on those, so don't go for bolder colours until you feel like you kinda know what you're doing.
Once you get a relatively steady hand with eyeliner, try out using liquid.
I'm personally not a huge fan of using glosses or lipsticks, unless I'm going to an event, because I end up eating them or my hair sticks to my lips non-stop. But get them if you want them.

Okay, so I'm in the market for an eye primer. The catch is, I live in New Zealand, so brands like Too Faced and Urban Decay aren't available here. We do have some 'drug store' brands like Maybelline, Revlon, Covergirl and L'Oreal (inverted commas because these products are nowhere as cheap as they are in the States). Do any of these brands make eye primers, and if so, do any anons have experience with them?

At the moment I stay away from eyeshadows because I have oily lids and shadows crease before I've finished putting on the rest of my makeup so I'm interested to see what difference a primer makes. I could resort to ebay if I had to, but I doubt the authenticity of products from there. Online shops charge an arm and a leg for shipping.

Some Asian brands have extremely light BB creams. I'm not pale so I can't recommend one in a shade that's light enough for you, but Missha M Perfect Cover is a nice basic BB cream if shade 13 is light enough for you. If you're insistent on getting a Western one, do not purchase one expecting it to be the miracle product it's hyped up to be, and do not expect it to be anywhere near as good as an Asian one. They are almost always nothing more than a tinted moisturiser. The remainder that aren't are often too orange and too dark.

There's a lot of reasons honestly. I grew up wanting to be Sailor Moon, so that started the wish to have long hair, then a traumatic (to me) experience when I was a kid made me not want to cut my hair into my teens. Then getting bullied and called a witch because of my hair made me stubbornly refuse to cut it through high school. Now, at 20 I realize how lucky I am to be able to grow my hair as long as I have.

Having long hair and keeping it presentable can take a lot of work, depending on your hair. With the amount of time you spend growing it and keeping it nice, it's not shocking that a lot of people get attached to it. Of course, plenty of people just don't like change, and cutting your hair can change your look significantly. It's why a lot of women cut their hair after a breakup or other significant event in their lives.

Sorry if I didn't really answer your question, but I feel like I'm rambling so I'll shut up now.

Any advice on how not to be so afraid of makeup? I want to play and experiment with colors, getting more comfortable with better looks for my eyes to possibly brighten them up, and learning how to better apply eye makeup; however I just have this fear that everybody around me is thinking I look too overly made up like a porn star or something.

Don't get me wrong, I feel more comfortable in the, already what I feel is a lot, makeup I wear, but I just have this gnawing feeling that I'm too overly made up.

A lot of it is just getting used to how you look. 9 times out of 10, when you wear a product you don't normally wear, you feel like it really stands out on your face, even if it looks okay to everyone else. If it's eye makeup you want to get used to, start off small, then work your way up. Start with mascara alone, then with a thin line of brown eyeliner, then black, then maybe thicken it a little, then wing it out, then play around with neutral shadows, then maybe some natural-ish colours like peaches and golds, then some brighter colours that contrast well with your eye colour. Alternatively, try coloured eyeliner instead of eyeshadows for a pop of colour. I love wearing a thickish coloured line with a thin black liquid line on top.

I'm pretty bad at applying makeup, and I'd love to get some help on what looks good.
I have short, thin eyelashes, even with mascara they're barely visible. My eyes are deep set and close together, and also hooded (I think?) and so eyeliner and eyeshadow tend to not really show.
Also, where on my cheeks should I apply blush?
BTW I do have eyebrows, they're just blond and therefore don't really show in the pics that are taken with zero makeup.

You seem to have a bit of redness on your face, some BB cream of tinted moisturiser should help even out your skin tone. As for your lashes, have you tried curling them before applying mascara? And what mascara specifically have you tried? If you don't find that some of the more 'normal' types make a difference, how about one that's supposed to give you a bit more of a dramatic look? As for eyeliner, start off thin in the inner corners, and thicken the line outwards, particularly focusing on the outer corners, which should help make your eyes look not so close set. Alternatively, if you only want a thin line, only line the outer half of your eye. With your brows, maybe fill them in, or use a tinted brow gel to make them stand out more. I'm not too experienced with eyeshadow and blush, so unfortunately I can't help you with that.

>> No.6831393

My winter routine was a bit too heavy now that it's warmer, so I've recently switched to some new products that I'm absolutely loving and want to recommend.

Skinfood has a charcoal bar soap which completely destroyed the blackheads and clogged pores on my face, which have been a problem now that I'm sweating a bit more. I can only use it on my chin and around my nose, though, because it burns the rest of my face. A lot of my friends use this one too.

I also reallyreally love Tonymoly's Floria active peeling gel. Blobs of dead skin come off every time I use it, and I use it once a week all over my face/neck/shoulders/upper back before I shower. Since it's chemical peeling it's less abrasive than exfoliating, so my skin isn't as irritated after.

My current favourite sheet face mask is Skinfood's Hydro Fitting Snail Mask Sheet. It leaves your skin a bit sticky after you remove it, but it absorbs after a few minutes and leaves my skin incredibly smooth. This is insanely moisturizing, so I only recommend it for people who get dry patches on their skin. I like to use it after I do the peeling so my skin doesn't die.

And my favourite bb creams at the moment are Etude's Dear Girls Be Clear and Skinfood's Platinum Grape Cell Essential. Both are really smooth and creamy pale, and just blend really nicely without leaving a texture on my face. The SF one has better coverage and 45 SPF. I like to finish them with the Etude sweet recipe cookie pact which gives a soft and non-cakey finish.

... There's a lot of other products I could pimp, if anyone is interested.

There are two ways that have worked for me.

1) Don't use crazy/really dark eyeshadow colors and play up your lashes with falsies.
2) If you must use those two, apply the shadow way above your crease as well so it won't get hidden when your eyes are open.

Here's a tutorial that I like because the lady has hooded eyes, but her makeup makes it look like she doesn't.

IMO, maid cafe = flirty makeup. Maybe some false lashes, the kinda wispy style that still look kinda natural? Winged eyeliner and a sweep of pink eyeshadow blended with a shadow that matches your skin tone in your crease, and a slightly shimmery champagne colour in the inner corner and under the brow. Maybe a subtle blush which suits your skin tone, and pink lipgloss too.

This is just an opinion, but I find that contrasts between the levels of makeup people wear are much more jarring than the amount that's actually on their face. For example, it's much more visually strange if somebody has super elaborate eye makeup and giant uncovered zits, than if they were just wearing full face in the first place. I am an RN and this is the only foundation (with a primer) that survives my mask going on and off my face. At first I was putting waaaay too much on because I underestimated how much coverage this stuff has. Don't use a sponge with this stuff. I just use my clean hands.
I also live in the swamps of Louisiana where the temps get to 98+ and the humidity is like 90% By 6pm my face still looks great.

My face is combo but mostly oily. I am in so much love with this stuff. It just works for me. I had to return 2 of them untill i found my right color. (It is hard to base it off the packaging.)

Bobby Brown is another good foundation for my situation, however I always keep going back to Revlon, it is cheaper and does just as good of a job.

It does not improve skin at all. No BM product does not even the ones with the stupid rareminersls or "lemon peel". The way they package and formulate the stuff makes the unstable.

That said I own several BM products because they're lovely. Tried the Moxie lipstick and it's a thousand times more moisturizing than lip butters. They are 18 bucks so probably not for those on a budget.

I'm in the same boat. I used to think I was neutral because I was just so light, but even the lightest skin is going to have SOME tone to it. Turns out I'm leaning towards a really desaturated yellow-beige.

Do yourself a favour Anon- go to the Meow Cosmetics site. I don't use their makeup because I prefer a liquid/cream foundation/concealer, but they have an amazing array of shades from just white to almost white with undertones, and so on. Buy a bunch of sample baggies of shades of the foundation in the depth you think you'll need- the Inquisitive level runs pretty light, I think lighter than even most pale girls are. So if you really are just -white-, get all of the shades in the Inquisitive range, or maybe the Sleek range. Swatch test them until you find the shade that blends in the best, and that will help you know what undertones you are.

It helped me tremendously because even if I'm ultra ultra pale, I realized because of my yellow tones to avoid pink foundations like the plague because they make me look dead.

Seconding shape eyebrows-don't go overboard, just get rid of stray hairs. Getting them threadded is pretty cheap if you're nervous about doing it yourself.

I'd add a mascara, possibly in a dark brown to keep it from being too harsh but still helping your eyes to pop a bit, they're so pretty!

I can't tell if I'm seeing undereye circles, but if you do have them grab a concealer and a powder to set the concealer.

A tinted balm or lip tint might look cute as well. You're super pretty and should go with something simple. Also, I kind of like your hair- especially for mori or classic/country lolita. although you maybe should be more careful about how you part it.

If I decide to wear makeup it's typically, wash face, moisturizer, concealer around eye area, light shadow under eyebrow and in tear duct area, medium toasty brown color on my lids, dark chocolate brown ond the outside of my eyes, mascara, line the the outside quarter of my lower waterline (if that makes sense) and outside half of my upper waterline, mascara. Yo /cgl/ I have a question about my eyes, specifically talking lids. That's my eyes, opened naturally. My eyes are pretty narrow and basically about 10% of any makeup I put on my lids actually shows. My eyes basically take up the whole area/you really can't see my lids period.

I like how I typically do my makeup, but the only problem I have is that if I want to make it look like I'm wearing any makeup, basically all of the makeup goes on the outside of my lids. This makes me feel weird/uncomfortable because, quite frankly, I feel really weird/OTT/drag queen when I'm putting all of this eyeshadow on my brow bone/not my eyelids.

I guess my question is, is there any solution for this? Should I look toward Asian eye tutorials because they also have narrow eyes with minimal lids? Should I just put more makeup on my brow bone or outer area?

hey guys, just a question.
My eyebrows are pretty thick and dark naturally, as you see in the picture. Should I fill them with makeup anyway? Everytime I try to, I end up looking either angry or like a drag queen. Some suggestions, please?

>> No.6839832

>>6839820
If you are going for a natural look I would not fill them, they are dark enough, maybe just a tiny bit in areas were the hair is more sparse to give uniformity. Do it softly with an eyeshadow a bit lighter than your hair color so you don't get the drag queen effect.
Also I would pluck a bit under the arch area to give more definition

Can anyone suggest a good slightly shimmery peach/warm pink blush? I'd prefer it being somewhat light and easily buildable. I've got fairly pale skin, but I have olive-y neutral undertones. I'm still pretty pale, but I've been getting some sun lately so it'd be best if it was a more "versatile" shade; it'd be best if it was in one of those duos with a good bronzer too or had a hint of "sunkissed" sort of colour in it, but I know that's getting way to specific. I'm better with powder/cake blushes, but I'm open to trying any type!

Okay, while these are good suggestions, I'm wondering where the hell they got these prices from. They have a L'Oreal mascara listed as $26, but I got the exact one recently from Walmart for around $7 or $9.

If your skin has a tinge of pinkish red (exluding inflammation) you are cool toned (almost all fair people are cool toned). you'll also notice that bluish veins will give your skin a "cool" tone which is where "cool toned" comes from.

If your skin has a yellow/tan tan tinge naturally you have warm undertones

If your skin is neither yellowish or pinkish, you have neutral undertones. It helps to print out swatches of blue/yellow and line them against your skin.

Friendly PSA for a cheap mascara:
this mascara is actually really good. I got it when I was completely out because all my old mascaras had dried up, and Walgreens was out of the Jordana Extreme mascara I usually use. It was on sale so I gave it a try and I have to say it's pretty thickening and not too heavy or drying on my lashes. It gives good separation and fullness and layers like a dream! For $3 it performed way better than I expected. Agreed, I find that Wet'n'Wild is generally quite a reliable CheapGood brand. When I started filling in my eyebrows and shaping them, I would practice with their eye pencils and they were surprisingly good. It controlled really easily, applied evenly and didn't smudge. The pencil sharpens cleanly and doesn't break too easy and it still works pretty well even with the tip dulled down between sharpens.

Having said that, my philosophy is to invest in a good eyelash primer and then most mascaras all work better regardless of their price point.

Using florid language like that is pretty pretentious. I feel like there is context to be considered in using words appropriately. I wouldn't expect the average person to have that kind of vocabulary, and you shouldn't look down on people for not speaking the way you do.

What lashes are those? They look gorgeous!

Yes it is. You can get your point across most of the time without having to resort to that language. Most highly educated people I know don't even speak like that in their daily lives.

But whatever gives you that false air of superiority.

Does anyone have any tutorials for "kawaii" eye makeup tutorials for hooded/mature eyes? All I get on google are kawaii Asian-eye makeup tutorials and old lady drag queen makeup tutorials.

Also, would eyelid glue help "fix" my hooded lids or does that only work for making double lids from monolids?

Is this thread on autosage yet...?

So in my younger years I overplucked my eyebrows, I haven't touched them in a really long time, but they still don't want to grow and I have to manually shade them bigger every day

Would putting rogaine on my eyebrows work? Or is there something else I should do?

you sprinkle your conversation with that of a cheap fedora wearer.

The only one of these that is even slightly okay to use the way you listed is androgynous. The other two, you just sound like you looked up some words in a dictionary, and liked the way they sound. Those words are more descriptors; as a writer, I would perhaps use them when describing a setting or situation, but never in dialogue. It's unnatural, and incredibly pretentious sounding.
Hell, even the way you typed their responses shows that you kind of think you're better than them for knowing a few 'big' words.

I have eye hollows or sunken under eye, is there some sort of face Spackle that I can use to slightly fill it and reduce it?
I have tried highlighting the area to reduce their appearance but that method breaks with most lighting and angles.
