My friend had a whole bunch of pictures from Acen, and this is the only good lolita one I saw.
I just wish she worked harder to get the shape of the dress right, because the coord other than that is cute. But she has such a triangle shape... And it looks like that's only because she pulled it out so it wasn't completely deflated-looking. Petticoats, people!

I think there was a free for all application for models? The only slightly bad thing with the timing of the indie show was that they had at least 50 models, who are probably lolitas and the Chantilly presentation barely had any people at all in the big booked room. My favorite pieces were the ones by Mossbadger, but that's because I like painting prints. One of the designers admitted in the Q&A that she wanted to have a marriage of retro and Lolita design in her outfits.

Actually for the most part the mostly incredibly unprofessional MUAs did it, except for the people that had to wait for the last minute and do their own makeup.

The MUAs and stylists supposedly took notes the day before the show but everyone appeared to be sharing one book and a couple of them seemed to have no idea what was going on.

None of the MUAs had disposable applicators. Everyone ended up having the same applicator used on them. Several of them were so confused as to who was supposed to have what look that it took so long for makeup and hair that one or two of the models were forced to borrow makeup from one of the designers in order to finish up in time.

I think there is some confusion about the indie show vs. the brand shows.

Brand = paid "volunteer" make up people. They were not MUAs or hairstylists. They did the shows last year too.

Indie = models did it themselves.

The indie show really only had an hour and a half to rehearse, and a ton of people showed up late and still had to get ready.

The brand shows had all morning to get their shit together, plus a rehearsal the night before and it was still meh.

FYI to the uninformed in Chicago, she's been double-talking nearly everyone. Don't tell her a damn thing unless you want it spread to the rest of the community. Also, she totally posts photos of community members on here and acts like she has no idea why anyone would do that.

It's been put together that she has most-likely been behind a huge chunk of the Chicago drama. If she came to you with a story or saying that someone told her a rumor, she was the one who created it. Desperate and attention-seeking behavior is what she does best.

If not that, then you're the one hungry for drama, since you seem to think this has been coming up every possible chance for months. You're either paying way too much attention to it, or not enough. I haven't decided.

I haven't posted in this thread yet, but personally she wouldn't stop texting me or facebook chatting me for 2-3 days. Even after I stopped responding. She sent me about 25-30 messages. First it was complaining about her "best friends" because they got the dress and she didn't and this somehow made them horrible, then it was complaining that they wouldn't talk to her anymore or accept her apologies. It sounded to me like her apologies were borderline harassment, like if she just kept texting that she was sorry than they should accept that and forgive her. Given how many messages I got, as someone who was not particularly close friends with her and who was not involved in any of the initial "drama" I can just imagine how many messages she was sending the people who actually were involved.

You should have bought something at the Chantilly/Atelier Pierrot booth and bought a ticket to the Tea Party. You missed out on the fun! My only complaint about my coord is that I needed a dark red bolero and a stronger headdress which I mentioned in a previous post.

>how was the food by the way?? sandwiches and stuff?

The sandwiches were good. One was a berry sandwich with raspberries, another was a cucumber sandwich, and the last one was with roast beef with a mild spread. here are some photos of me since I don't want to post others without their permission.
This is what I wore on Sunday all day and to the tea party and it's probably my best outfit to date. The only thing I would fix is get a rhapsody-styled wig instead of the bob. My face is too round no matter what weight I'm at to really look good in bobs. Might also get a black petticoat.
In this outfit I'm wearing Colleen jsk by Atelier Pierrot, specifically bought for the tea party, with an offbrand chiffon coat over it. It's actually an old coat that I had that I never wore because it's a size small and I've always been a size medium until recently. The AtPi dress is also a bit short on me in the bodice so I added a waist-cinching belt under the coat to give it a more defined waist.
Accessories are from various offbrand sources, but the most noteworthy ones are the crown and socks. They're from Paradise Rose and Chantilly, respectively.
Btw if you ever go to Paradise Rose's booth at cons and see a crown you like, but would like to add spikes like mine has, just ask Lina to add them for you. She'll sometimes add them for a small fee for you and can have it ready as early as the next day of the con.

You're welcome. :3c

One of the girls from Harajuku Hearts -- not Ellejay -- suggested a corset with the skirt. I have no idea how to make it work but I'm going to give it a shot since I impulse ordered a set.

Does Anime Midwest have as many Lolitas attending as Acen does?

There are less lolitas at Midwest compared to ACen. However, they mentioned that several of the indie designers will be having their own panel at Anime Midwest.

He was actually super nice at the tea party - was acting as a butler but was good about addressing a problem my table had with the tea service. After that experience I kinda forgave him for the terrible pronunciation though he really should have asked how to say the names.
