The hotel and convention know about the people going. They are in the process of checking art that might be of interest to con 'tards and putting it in storage for the weekend. There will still be art around, but it will likely be massive pieces that can't easily be destroyed. Though I'm sure people will try anyway...

Also, last time I checked, they are planning to drain the giant fountain/pool that's in the atrium for obvious reasons.

As for Ani-Idol it completely depends on what people choose to perform. A lot of people choose songs that aren't really right for their voice or they forget lyrics.

There are a lot of really strong performers in the advanced division now. Things should get interesting to say the least.

Anon, just know that pretty much anyone from Texas that admits to hanging out on /cgl/ is shit tier.
None of our decent cosplayers will admit to being seagulls and, for all the talk, there is relatively little to no actual texas drama.
Unlike the coastal conventions, texas threads are pretty boring. We have a few shitty tripfags that go to the meetups (Smoker, Slendy, that crowd etc) that don't even seriously cosplay and just kinda hang around, shitting up threads.

I've been to a couple meets over the past few years and have been sorely disappoint.

Just as a friendly warning, jebus is going to probably be on his best behavior (at least during the meetup) now that he's starting to realize that he's not actually as well-liked as he thought...but don't be fooled into thinking he's a cool guy or a good friend just from being around him for an hour or two. Don't walk into it thinking you're going to find some kind of misunderstood kindred spirit, we've all made that mistake in giving him the benefit of the doubt and thinking "Ohhh...he's not so bad!" and been sorely disappointed because of it.

I refuse to believe that this is all A-Kon has to offer. Why can't we ever have nice threads? I look at the ACen and Anime Boston and Fanime threads all around and they aren't pure shit like the A-Kon threads consistently are.

When A-Kon was at the Sheraton, the people in the downstairs Artist Alley couldn't leave their displays up without them being attended because there was no way to block it off and prevent people from tearing shit up. Since I'm not participating this year I'm not sure if they've announced the table arrangements yet, or where the AA is located in the hotel. If it's an area that can just be blocked off from public access I can see more people setting up on Thursday so they wouldn't have to do it Friday, but who knows. There may be a handful of people who decide to set up for a few hours if they don't have giant, busy displays to set up.
