I am far from ready. I have no motivation what so ever to sew. Unless I get my arse in gear soon, it looks like I won't have a new cosplay this time. Oh well.

I guess I'm ready. The wig for my planned costume was the wrong length, so no cosplays for me this time. Just need to get next week over with which will be the hardest part.
Will probably go to the meet very quickly to greet people and then head off again as soon as the drinking begins. Will be fun to at least see what kind of people go to this board!

I noticed while booking hotel that the prices had skyrocketed, I wondered why and noticed that MCM was on.

I'll be in London between 23-27 and I've never been to a con before (since Sweden is a barren wasteland covered in forests and potatoes), so I wondering, is it worth it?

If you don't mind travelling each day, you could get a super cheap room in Stratford and then take the Tube + DLR down to the ExCel, only a 10 min ride. You'll see plenty of cosplayers in the same direction too so you can just follow them.

Truthfully, MCM is shite if you don't know people. It's essentially eBay/EA/SE shops coupled with a large amount of fat sweaty people dressed up in either tight or terrible cosplay.

The only good thing I can think of is the after-parties and trawling for con-ass, even then the choices have become severely limited year by year. If you just want to buy stuff, either do it on-line or pop up on Sunday when they start giving it out at discounted prices.

There is no limit to tickets, so the hall can get crowded quite quickly. The people count for the last May was around 60,000 so it's really just a limit of how many people you can pack into a hall. You can get early bird tickets though to get in for 9am, but normal tickets on the day only allow you in after 11am at a cheaper price.

If you're new to the meets and want to have fun I wouldn't suggest going to the official meet, it will be terrible and the people are boring as fuck.

For those of you who want to drink and have a chat with people who have similar tastes we'll be meeting at Custom House DLR station (near the ticket machine) at 7pm on Saturday. From there we'll be heading to a local pub for a few beers and then retiring to a flat nearby for games, more drinking and general shenanegeins. You can bring your own alcohol but we've got quite a bit to get through so it will be provided (spirits, beers, cocktails - you name it). When I made the skype group, I was concerned that it might turn into a somewhat inaccessible circle jerk and that it wouldn't serve its intended purpose (helping new people to make friends so they have more fun at the event). What's actually happened is that the new people have made friends in the group and everyone gets on really well, and I'm really glad to see that. Gives me the warm fuzzies. Expos happen multiple times each year in different places. There's not great variation beyond the guests that attend since it's just a essentially just giant dealers room.

If you absolutely have to see someone at expo, then go, but plan your revision and shit carefully so taking 2 or 3 days out for expo is minimised. I'm going to MCM on Sunday and it is my first convention, I'm going with a few of my weirder friends and they suggested I rope together some kind of costume and so I just found my big sombrero I got on a holiday to Mexico and made a makeshift poncho out of an old blanket.
