Does anyone else feel like this scene is slowly dying? Where I live there are not many people left spending ridiculous amounts of time on their hair etc, you know what I mean.

I've always had troubles getting blue dye to fade... it's stuck no matter how much I bleach it. Still I dyed my hair black/blue a couple days back, not sure if that was smart. Any tricks if I need to get rid of it one day?

Lately I haven't been dressing vk at all. It's a shame really. Old picture is old and bad, but that's what I usually wear (+ black tights). I guess I'm a bit scared going out in any of my better pieces if we're going to drink or something...

Well, the easiest is to just put a darker permanent colour over it (like dark brown at least I think), otherwise shampoo for dandruff should work
And semi-permanent colours don't work the same as permanent, so that's why it's really difficult to strip that blue colour with bleach (but hopefully it'll bite on me, otherwise I'm fucked)

How do you do those stripes? Does it take a long while to do them? I kind of get tired half-way through so i just do some other hairstyle, but I really want to do that hairstyle

It takes around 1-3 hours for me to do hair, depending on the amount of effort I'm putting in. That style in the picture takes me 2 hours and a shit ton of hairspray. I know it's not good for my hair but I don't use other products (wax or anything), just hairspray. I just... straighten my hair, backcomb a small portion of it, strand by strand spray it in place, repeat until done. Sorry, I suck at explaining my methods...

Ah yes, but it still takes a while, it's just that the dandruff shampoo is very harsh against colour so it speeds up the fading process, a lot of sun should help too

The quality is shitty, but that's because my phone's camera has gone haywire so I have to use the front (and it just loves to fuck up the quality)
The pic is a bit old too, because I've changed my fringe a bit and the yellow is no longer yellow but white (and silver, goddammit directions)

I dye my hair myself, yes. The mirrors can be a bit tricky sometimes but somehow I've avoided all disasters. I had to learn how to do it alone since I have problems trusting other people with my hair... I guess then if something goes wrong I can only blame myself.

Wish I had the before and after pick still of the one v-kei who looked like a skinny shrimp while in band cloths / makeup. The comparison picked was him in his regular day clothing, dude was huge ripped. Amazing how feminine makeup and the right cloths can make you.

Personally, I sort of hope the Visual-Kei scene dies down again. Like most things I doubt it will die out completely, but at one point I think it was getting too close to going too mainstream, which to me would just ruin the scene all together.

Speaking as a really old school V-Kei fan (getting old here), it seems to me like it has risen and fallen in popularity several times in the past, and the quality of the music and bands in general seem to improve greatly when it is in it's not-so-popular stage.

If I had it my way, I would keep it as an extremely small scene like it used to be, but that's just wishful hoping.

Visual Kei will never be mainstream. Partly because 9/10 of the bands that form will disband within a year or two , given most of them are half-heartedly trying to begin with while not even trying to create good/original music, and only 1/10 of them are decent bands with decent musicians who actually try and stick together.

I'm in it at least for the 1/10 who make good music while keeping it kei and seem like decent people. These are the bands that stick together (or at least truly try to) and actually have some positive impact on the scene.

Their latest mini-album released about a month ago though made it seem like they somewhat still care the ever-so-slightest about their old music still though. Surprised me. Dum Spiro Spero sounded like one really long and drawn out noise that never changed and was a huge disappointment to me. I have a TINY bit of hope for their music though with this latest release.

To me, there is something to the music as well. Although bands do vary in musical style, many of them have that "something" to their sound that makes you say "This sounds like a visual-kei band". I cannot really describe it though.

I use got2be glued (the yellow one), it's not super cheap but it's freakin' awesome, the second best hairspray I've ever had. The best one cost like 25€ a can so... nooo way. Don't remember the brand though, it was a long time ago.
I've also tried the brands you mentioned but they both made my hair feel sticky and it was pain to style it. Dunno if that's a common problem.

I have no idea what the community is like nowadays. When I jumped in (10+ years ago) everything was nice and dandy, then the bitchyness ensued and it was a free-for-all hate fest. Now... there seems to be nothing going on anywhere, some tumbleweeds rolling in the wind.

Then again I've never been too involved in the community. Mostly because the drama really put me off back in the day. And this is just where I live.

I think it's hard to style with them because they're extremely quick to dry, but I think it's worth it if not even the wind can fuck up your hair. Don't know about the stickiness though, maybe you used too much? I never got a sticky feel with them, or maybe you and I have different kinds of hair, I have no idea if this makes any difference

I want to cut my hair so bad, I've had this asian mullet for so long, but I have no idea which style I should pick since the mullet is so fantastically dynamic when it comes to styling
