CGL, help.

I bought two ETC skirts, they just arrived today and they are TINY. I'll have to alter them to have any chance to fit into them, and I have no intention of re-selling them. I need ideas on how to alter them without wrecking the look of the print or the skirts themselves.

And before anyone accuses me of being too fat for lolita, not really the problem. Even if i lost weight, I'd have to lose a substantial amount of bone and possibly some of my internal organs to fit these skirts.

>> No.6843155

bone? Your waist doesn't have much bone in it...what size is your waist?

>> No.6843159

Post the skirts. We'll need to see the what kind of waistband there is.

>>6843155
Maybe they're underbust, or she has a short torso, so they sit on her ribs.

>> No.6843160

>>6843155

The waist isn't the problem, the skirts with the zips pulled down won't go over my hips. There's not a hope of getting them the other way past my bust, and they would barely fit the width of my ribcage.

>>6843160
how big are your hips?? my hips are huge!

>> No.6843169

It would help to post a picture of said skirts.

etc skirts arent that tiny, you're just too fat OP

>>6843160
Perhaps it is only necessary for a slight alteration and a longer zipper.

>> No.6843179

>>6843160
couldn't you just take apart the seam with the zipper on it and replace the zipper with a longer one? doesn't seem very complicated.

This is one of them, the other is pretty similar. They look like they'd be hard pressed to fit an eight year old.

>>6843170

Ah, there's always one. I guess I'd better kill myself then.

I don't see why you just don't tell us your measurements, especially if you don't think you are fat. How can we know how you need to alter your skirts if we don't know how much more room you need?

>> No.6843192

>>6843186
What fucking size is your waist/hips, what fucking size is the skirt? What size was it supposed to fucking be?

Don't just come here "Waaah my skirts don't fit and it's not because I'm fat desuuuu it's the skirts! Oh, but I won't tell you my measurements just believe me the skirts are the problem!!!"

>> No.6843193

>>6843186
1. Do what a few other anons said about the zipper. See if that helps you get it on your waist. If not:
2. Find a similar striped fabric somewhere to replace the waistband. Let out the some of the pleats (keep the pleat, but reduce the amount of fabric that's folded under). Or, if you don't mind, just completely unpleat the back. Make a new waistband with your new fabric, to fit the new measurement.

let me carve some bacon off your back first

>>6843193

Thank you, that's very helpful. I'll give it a try.

>>6843192

I don't know my measurements off the top of my head and I'm nowhere near a measuring tape at the mo. I'm a rough size 6 in clothes from the waist down, size 10 around the bust if that helps.

Why would you buy something if you clearly don't even know if it would fit or not?

>> No.6843217

Nobody cares if your waist is thick because you have organs or bones or fat lumps. Your problem is that your waist is too thick for your skirts. Stop it with the whole ~i'm not fat, i just don't know my measurements~ bullcrap. you are clearly asking a question that can only be best answered after knowing your measurements, and the measurements of your skirt. In general ETC sizing caters to petite ladies and even slightly chubby people cannot fit it. There ARE other people on CGL (me for example) who cannot fit ETC skirts, but we don't go all denial mode "I can't fit ETC, but I must be skinny"

>> No.6843220

>>6843160

How big are you?
If you're a bit chubby or fat then losing weight would almost definitely help. What a lot of people seem to forget is that when skirts don't fit it's not just because of fat on the hips, it's mostly the fat on your ass.

>I have had this same problem . __.

>> No.6843223

>>6843211
Clothing should fit you, you shouldn't "make it work" and if you can't find what you like you buy something else or make something similar. Jeesh, what is wrong with you idiots. I don't go to the department store and throw a shit fit if they're out of my size, nor do I buy the wrong size and then try to 'make it work' you just fucking don't get it. It's not a hard concept.

How fucking fat is your ass?! I have a 40in hip measurement and most of that is my ass and I can fit these skirts just fine!

Different anon but usually if your ass is bigger the fabric in the back tends to ride up as opposed to the front end, making it look a bit wonky and off.

>> No.6843243

>>6843238
I get that part, but usually you can fix it by pulling it up slightly in the front. I was just curious as to how large peoples butts are who are in the fashion.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if you accidentally bought ETC Lulu, which actually is for eight year olds

>> No.6843256

>>6843243
But for lolita pulling it up might be making it a bit too short. The length really matters to make a good fit work.

>> No.6843260

>>6843250
Actually that's doubtful. This is a pretty common thing to be honest, especially in the lolita/j-fash comm. A lot of people just buy up things they like and then complain about "why doesn't it fit? the measurements are so close to my own even though they're about 9-14 inches off, but i'm not too big you guys, you're just mean and you want the clothing for yourself!" It's quite puzzling why people do that.

>> No.6843262

>>6843256
That's true, but in lolita you can rearrange the poof in your petti to balance it out. One of my friends actually removed one of the layers in her pettis over her butt because she didn't really need it that poofy there.

I'm 4'11 and petite and sometimes I buy etc lulu off mbok and wear it casually since it fits like a regular dress with an adorable print and its cheap. When I get bored of it I just sell it. It's cost efficient for short girls if they'd like cute casual clothes without a huge price tag.
That said etc lulu did make a picnic print so that's probably it.

>> No.6843359

I feel you... Looking at me you'd think I was chubby, but naked my hip-bones, ribs and clavicles are prominant, and I have a thigh-gap.

Feels badman, but at the same time I'm got a tiny waist and massive hips, some people like that. Just have to dress for your shape.
