First time posting on /cgl/, p-p-please be nice if my post is different from the ordinary posts ;_;

Will I be able to pull off a "prometheus" engineer cosplay if I drop some more BF within 2weeks? Might dry myself out a bit during that day, but not too much so that I face any danger to my organs... Also, what technique and sort of paint is used for this kind of cosplay?

Im fairly "big" compared to other people around me, so I doubt it will matter if im around 10% bf rather than around 8%. Some drawn shadows on striations will probably make me look better. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

>> No.6838996

>p-p-please
Drop that shit now.

And this is not normally something I would say to anyone, but you have a way to go fitness wise if you want to look like the engineer. Don't ask us, go to /fit/ and ask what you can do.

Body paint will be helpful, but won't take you all the way. Let me see if I can find the thread on body painting for you.

>> No.6838995

Is OP a picture of you on the left? because you're pretty good there. Just contour a bit when using the darker bodypaint to accentuate muscles.

And nah, don't worry about dropping more bf. You should be fine as long as you have enough muscle definition to be outlined by the bodypaint.

Yes that is me, Im on a cut right now until summer gets here anyway, so thats how the idea came to my mind.

>>6838996
Sorry for that, im from /fit/ and it's just a phrase i've caught up. However, Im really happy that you guys take some time to help me out!

>> No.6839007

Definitely practice your body painting skills. I agree with >>6838995 you're pretty well set. If you CAN drop more body fat, go for it, but I wouldn't call it necessary.

>>6839004
I think you just need some more sit-ups and chest presses. Idk you're from /fit/ you probably know that. You won't look exactly like the guy on the right but you probably don't need to worry about it too much. Bodypaint will only help a little, it's kind of difficult to get it anywhere near realistic looking unless you have a good artist doing it for you, and just drawing lines will look ridiculous. You'll need shading and some texturing and such.

I couldn't find a thread on body painting. I guess this may be a good place to try to start one? Anyways, here's a thread where if you can wade through the drama, they have a lot of recommendations on body make up and how to seal it.

If you've seen the behind the scenes photos the Engineer has a TON of prostetics and make up on. Not to discourage you from attempting this costume but as stated before practice your body painting or get a friend who is good at it.

I hope you're at least over 6 feet because it would look weird if you're too short.

Also since you're asking about body paint you're looking at full scale spray ons that theaters use in productions. Regular body paint isn't going to cut it since you have to do most of your body and will wear down over time or where skin touches skin. At this rate I would look into getting a zentai suit and getting a professional to do this for you if you're serious.

>> No.6839113

>>6839065
Im 6foot exactly. I might have a friend help me with this. Will a blue spray as background at shadows with toned white spray over it do the trick? Filling in the shadows with some dark colored powder maby?

Im not dead serious with this project. If theres flaws such as the painting wearing out after a while, it won't matter so much to me. However, thanks for the advice for spray.

put some more mass on and do it next year convincingly. even with great body paint skills and someone to help you apply it, the nature of the engineer is that he's yoked as fuck and there's no way around that. you're looking good, especially in the delts, but body paint can only do so much. goes without saying that you need really impressive body paint either way so make sure that's squared away as well since no one's gonna look like the engineer without body paint natty

also imo hit traps hard with heavy shrugs multiple times a week to bring them up especially

Engineer anon I think you could do it, but you'll definately need help with the painting and whatnot. A bit of excellent airbrushing and shadowing will make all the difference.

The thing is OP is that the character's defining feature is that he's ripped as fuck.
Anything less than Greek Hero is going to fall flat. Sorry dude but you even don't have defined abs yet. No amount of shading will convince anyone.

Good luck with your fitness though.

>> No.6840829

What are you talking about? OP has abs, you can see them, though he'd hat to cut his bf% down a little for them to be more noticeable. The main issue is op shaded his abs a little oddly and needs a bit of a gradient to make it look more 'natural'

Also OP seems to have a 4 pack torso
His arms and legs and pecs are large enough that he can fake being more cut than he is with some slight bodypaint improvements

Do you actually lift or are you just another faggot from /fit/ who spouts bullshit whilst being under 100lbs or over 400lbs? The guy's not engineer mode, no but given a few months he could easily attain it.

OP, work on your forearms and chest predominantly, the abs will catch up when you cut. You could do with hitting your legs as well as they're not as defined. Just deadlift, squat and bench the shit out of your body and you'll be perfect.

maybe if he turns in his natty card. look at the pics you see of good engineer cosplay. OP has at least a year of heavy lifting and heavy bulking and several months cutting before approaching what I'd consider a good size/body fat to pull off a reasonable engy

what do _you_ do when it comes to working out and eating to gain that much mass in half a year. even a year is fairly generous, that's assuming OP really works his ass off and has a great diet

wahahahahaha

>it would be completely natural
Are steroids natural? If so, then yes definitely.

With a proper and strict bulk and cutting diet along with a great work out routine, you're looking at a year minimum with a realistic two years to achieve that. But that's two years of work you'll be proud of and you will be able to do a lot more ripped cosplays than just an Engineer.

i think the OP can pull it off, even though he has pretty decent mass, not nearly enough definition, but with the proper shading he can look pretty good. the bodypaint work is going to make all the difference

>> No.6843621

I honestly think you'd make a good engineer right now; the reason that guy's muscles seem much more defined is strategic makeup and most likely photoshop. If you were to change anything, I would say try to bulk up your upper chest/arms, and thighs, since this guy and the guy from the movie's look more burly, where as you're more lean.
imo, I think lean looks better outside of this cosplay, though.

>>6839113
It'd be better to do white first, then apply the darker colours in the natural contours of your muscles and the engineer's. It'll look better, and if you do the dark colour first it'll probably show through the lighter one.

>> No.6843638

>>6843621
Two more things:

Most of those engineer cosplays pictured are 1. the same guy, and 2. have some sort of prosthetic on them. Granted, they're fit underneath that, but full body paint makes it much easier to blend the prosthetic in and make it look right.

If you're going to do some extreme thing to drop body fat and water weight very quickly, stop *at least* the day before the con. There are so many people that do crazy stuff to try to get perfect for their cosplay, but then end up light headed and sick from low everything and exhaustion from walking around in a cramped, warm space all day. There have been plenty of people who have passed out or gotten so bad they just had to leave. So, whatever you do, make sure that 1-2 days before the con you're eating normally and well hydrated.
