There's very little actual leadership since a lot of the decent fans have run as far away from the scene as they can. There's some cities as bad as Boston but it's one of the worst. Probably because everyone with some common sense stopped attending. There's definitely some good cosplayers and normal fans from that area but they aren't as loud as the embarrassing ones or they just don't go to the meetups that apparently happen every week.

Try to find a theater supply store in your area. Whatever they have should work pretty well; the Kryolan Aquacolor (and fixing spray, essential) I got in Philly a few years back has stood me in good stead. The most important part is some kind of sealer, don't bother with anything if you can't keep it from coming off somehow.

There's a theatre prop store somewhere downtown that supposedly has a bunch of makeup and props, and a friend of mine was telling me about this one liquid makeup, a grey coloured one, and how once it's mixed with a white liquid makeup, it'll form a nice grey to use and apply for any grey cosplays.

Only problem is, it's really pricey, about $14.00 a bottle so I'd be spending about $30.00, but the bottles are decently sized and will last for quite a while.

But who knows, maybe they have Ben Nye there.

For sealing, I have read that people use baby powder. Does this mean I just apply the makeup, be it liquid makeup or Ben Nye or whatever I choose, and then apply baby powder to where I sealed?

Or are there other options to seal?

I know powder works for setting greasepaint. ben nye (and mehron I think) have sealants you spray under the makeup to seal it (keeps the sweat away). iirc it's not reccommended you mix the spray and the powder but I forget why. water based stuff like kyrolan has an overspray to waterproof it. and I'm not sure about snazaroo.

Honestly if you're going to get Ben nye, buy Ben nye neutral set. Baby powder works but it always seems too thick to me while neutral set will keep it the same color and more skin-like. That should seal it for the majority of the day and if spots get greasy from sweat or anything just use your finger to dab on a bit of neutral set. You can always buy the sealer spray but from my experience, at least on your face, it doesn't do much.

Either way it's not a proper bodysuit and I hate the two piece thing because it is wrong. Then again there's not many people in Homestuck cosplay who have experience with spandex let alone pleather. What's a good way to anchor horns to a wig without a shitty headband showing?

Put the headband under the wig and jam the horns through.

I also used to build my horns joined by an arc of the armature wire and held the wire headband in place with hairclips, but that only works if you have thin black wire and black hair clips, and I lost my wire.

Nails and anchors or rivets. You stick the anchor (hole) part of it into the horn (glue really well) and then attach the screw/long end of the rivet to the headband. Put the head band underneath the wig with the screws poking through, pull the whole thing on, then attach the horns.

Not sure if you're looking for help with this stoll, but snap buttons work best for me (Pic related, it's the underside of my Kanaya horns. Glue the rivet piece onto the headband and the eyelet one into the horn, glue, rinse and repeat. It also lets you maintain the wig without cutting it, because you just snap the button ends together with your headband under the wig, and if someone decides to try to yank the horn off, it won't pull your whole wig off/move the headband.

Aside from that, it lets you have interchangeable pairs of horns for one headband/mix and match for your convenience.

trying to apply more snazaroo over powder is asking for blotchy makeup. apply as much as you need to first, letting it dry in between layers of paint, before you powder and seal. if you're using hairspray, the wet paint is going to dissolve it so don't bother sealing it between layers either.
i personally do a few layers of powder and hairspray/sealing spray after i paint, but i'm not actually sure if the additional layers help keep it on better but it makes me feel a little less worried about smudging too easily, regardless.

yup. just make sure to let the layers of paint dry before you go over it again, and make sure your brush/sponge/whatever isn't too wet for when you do any additional layers, because that will take the existing paint right off as well. (you might want to experiment a bit with this yourself to gauge how wet 'too wet' is-- just test it on the back of your hand or something, takes less paint than testing on your whole face unless you're already doing a full makeup test.)
