DEAR JANITOR: PLEASE DON'T DELETE THE ENTIRE THREAD BECAUSE OF TROLL POSTS. IF YOU COULD JUST BAN THE SPAMMERS/TROLLS AND/OR DELETE THEIR POSTS THAT WOULD BE SUFFICIENT. THAAAANKS

Some of them (my classmates, for exmaple) are vegetarians.
It's not ALWAYS the case, but time and time again it's shown up that in RARE cases even if you don't eat shitty you STILL manage to put on weight from an underactive thyroid.

You can never tell measurements of a person by looking at their pictures. It's not reliable, unless of course the person is quite large.

I have a lower body fat percentage (5lbs overweight, 15-20 shy of my goal... 130-135, may try for about 120-125, I'll see when I get there) but I have a 100cm bust and 88 cm waist. Please excuse me if this is the wrong place to ask, but I really like lolita style. I started cosplaying and saw these super cute girls and just really liked their style. I thought this might be the place to ask though, so here it goes: As someone is on the bigger side, I thought it would be pretty hard to get anything that would fit me. I am wondering if that's not true. My measurements are: 103-77-106cm (40.5-30.3-41.7 inches). My thighs are my biggest part, they are 115cm (43.7"), which shouldn't matter since the skirts flare out; and I am about 172cm tall or close to 5'7.
I've sort of looked at what dress styles I should wear because of my shape...But it's a little daunting I guess when you're just looking at an image. I basically just want to know if I have any chance of things fitting me, or where I should look (e.g. can you buy patterns, or is there a place that does bigger/custom fits etc). I would just like to give it a go is all.

Also, does it matter if you get knock-off stuff? I'm not sure, I have heard tell of "rules". I'm basically in the mind frame of "if something looks nice, that's all that matters" when it comes to fabric prints or things like that.

You look...downy.
Not an appropriate term but I honestly can't think of something else to express what I'm thinking.
Like, you need a /lot/ of makeup. Dramatic eye makeup, highlighting and contouring, and a nice lipstick/lipgloss combo. I really want your features to "pop", and have a better posture. You have no confidence in this picture and I think perfect makeup with a better pose will make you look 100% better.

You've definitely got a chance of things fitting you, though you bust may cause dresses to become empire waisted when you wear them. You can certainly fit into a good number of skirts with those measurements as well. There's also handmade and taobao. For sewing patterns, check out http://sew-loli.livejournal.com/

Replicas are a touchy subject, but honestly, it's your money and you can do what you please with it, especially if the print has been sold out for years and is exceedingly rare (like Puppet Circus). I've purchased a few things from Oo Jia, she's not too great at making bodices, but her skirts come out perfect every time. She can also sew basically any design you ask her to.

Thanks! I was worried about my bust size for fitting dresses, considering I put I was 103cm/40.5", but say a bra size I am a 34E. I find a lot of things will either be fine for my waist, but not my chest, or fine of my chest/hips but there's far too much material around my waist...
But I'm checking out these sites, and I found Oo Jia has a FB page. So I'll do some research. Currently I am losing weight, but to perfectly honest my goal isn't to even get to that small a size, so I may still have trouble finding stuff to fit me anyway.

Oh, LOL, I thought that print looked awfully familiar.

There's a lot of fabric in a duvet cover. All that fabric to work with, and she still has boobloaf straining at the seams because the bodice is too fucking small (and poorly fitted--it's too long through the waist). Girlfriend needs to make a muslin next time; she can use an old bedsheet--oh, wait...

And I see folding creases in the skirt--did she even iron that shit after taking it out of the package?

Not really. I've just seen a lot of people use them and wanted to try it out. I'm sure she saw other people wearing them as well. But then again, she's e-famous.

It's a pain because I wear regular prescription glasses (I have some fucked up issues with my eyes, so it's better off for me to wear frames rather than contacts), so switching between them for pictures was kind of silly. Hey we all try something that doesn't work out right, you know?

>> No.6831681

>>6831033
As far as general fit goes, most full-back shirred stuff should work fine on you. But you'll run into a problem with your bust hiking your hemlines up. So AP may not work on you as is. (You can work around it though). IW tends to release a lot of larger things but they aren't cut for larger busts, so I find it looks a little funny, But they have a lot of cute things, and at least on the one piece I do have from them, the straps have a lot of room to be adjusted for length. If you go the skirt/blouse route (try Meta's full-shirred skirts, or you can always "dun dun dun" alter brand.) there'd be no problems. Though sometimes, finding good Lolita blouses that fit you well can be an issue unless you go custom-made. Oh and Bodyline, they actually know that larger sizes = larger busts and lengthen their damn bodices (unlike some replica makers, and brands that do try to accommodate, but still strictly cater to their existing Japanese customers with B cups at most). Too bad the quality on Bodyline is a little on the "Walmart" side.

As far as replicas go, if it makes you happy, go for it. Just be aware that it can potentially piss people off, and it's not going to look as nice as brand. Once you start going brand, it's really hard to go back to replicas, at least it is for me. I know people that wear their replica(s) and brand fine, but I find I want to go for my brand stuff rather than any replicas, so I ended up selling them when I lost enough weight to fit into brand better.

I wasn't talking about that, I was referring to ones that the back of the dress is shirring. I don't like a completely shirred bodice either.

>> No.6831733

>>6831693
I don't think they'll squish your boobs anon, though you might have to end up buying/trading/selling until you find something that works. Had to do that with a few dresses. Look for anything where the max measurements in the bust are in the 110-115+ cm area and you'll be fine. Also look for things with adjustable straps and buttonholes that can be moved. Not the type where there's a buttonhole or loop on the back and the button on the straps. I find those always work better for me.

You might have to use a few tricks to get it to look right. I use a really good supportive sports bra (it was cheap at Target). It keeps the ladies firmly in place when I jog and doesn't give the appearance of uniboob. It takes my bust down about 4cm. I also wear a good underbust corset. I find that my bust tends to eat up the entire space of the bodice, so I use the corset to push them upwards a little bit. I don't tight-lace, otherwise it becomes lumpy and obvious especially when I sit. The bodice sits below the bustline and there's no lump/blobbyness where the bodice/skirt portion meet.

eat more often throughout the day in smaller portions. it will keep your metabolism running at top speed and may make it easier to lose weight. instead of two large meals, have 4-6 small meals. a bowl of cereal with skim milk for breakfast, a mid morning snack of veggies or sliced fruit, a light lunch of a salad with a lean protein like grilled chicken or fish, a mid-afternoon snack of whole-wheat crackers and cheese, or more veggies with a little dip (plain yogurt mixed with spices), then a light dinner, maybe more chicken or fish with a baked potato and steamed vegetables, then bed. and of course lots of water, or green tea with limited or no-calorie sweeteners.

IW's max measurements are absolute max measurements, don't do it unless you're well under the maximum. Also they're cut for a very small differential between bust/underbust (i.e. smaller cup sizes) with no extra consideration given to the longer vertical length required to get over larger boobs - so even if it is wide enough for you that waist bit could sit awkwardly on the bottom of your boobs.

So I got home from work and went straight into photo taking. This is not a cord! The blouse and even the socks are just my work clothes. I'll be picspamming some close up photos of the salop for those interested.
And I apologise the shit quality of the body shots. The bathroom mirror has a shitty light that's about to die soon.

In terms of the fit, the front will always be a bit too small but the waist part is absolutely roomy, I could stick both my arms through it and still have plenty of space. I would not recommend it for tall people. I'm lucky I'm a short fatty.

chantilly wouldn't fit very well on a plus size girl, hence why there are no pictures.
old blurry pic of me in one but-- I have 104 cm boobs, it pulls the dresses up higher and the waist doesn't fall on the right place. my waist is 74 cm but my ribs are HUGE. plus the tiny sleeves are unflattering on bigger shoulders, like mine (hence the jacket in my coord), and wouldn't even look like sleeves on someone with thicker arms.

Like >>6838563 said - it's a fully shirred dress. It sounds like you have a somewhat unique body type, which, guess what, isn't flattered by a fully-shirred dress. There are some skinny girls who look great in full shirring, and some who it doesn't suit. There are also plus-sized girls who can look good in full-shirring, and some who can even wear empire waists and look okay.

Overall, it's more about your proportions than anything else, which can vary much more than fat vs. skinny.

And I'm 155lbs (95-84-95) I'm pretty sure that's "plus-sized" at least in cgl/lolita terms. Also speaking on the fact that I've lost like 70lbs over the past year so I can't help but have a warped perception of how I look.

>Those tights are too unforgiving
>You're too...tall for brand tights
>You'll warp them and they won't look like you hope
>You won't be able to pull them up to your crotch

WELL. They came in the mail and they fit and look great! Everyone who thought they wouldn't fit were wrong, they fit just as well as tights I'd buy at the store, and the crotches align. The design isn't warped or weird and when I take them off they go back to normal shape. SO HA.

Haters to the left, please.

>> No.6838743

People in these threads operate under two different definitions of plus size: actual plus size and then just too big for unshirred lolita size. There's a huge difference between a size 10 and a size 18 and because of that these threads always have a "you're not plus size omg" "but I can't wear some burando ;_;" argument and it's fucking annoying.

It varies all over the place, honestly. Most people say plus size is anything size 14 US women's and larger. But even then that varies. A size 14 person may look either quite "average/normal" or they may be extremely chubby. It depends on a myriad of different circumstances.

Likewise, I wear size 8 pants, and most size L shirts. That's not plus size. But I'll be damned if I can fit into brand partial shirring or brand skirts outside of Meta's.

I think it's pretty much anything larger than a 100cm bust, and a 85cm waist, which at that point you can fit into brand, but your options begin decreasing.

>>6838613
Also it's impossible to tell a person's measurements from pictures. They may not look "fat" but have large measurements due to how their weight is distributed, their height and body size. So saying someone is or is not plus size when it comes to Lolita is kind of tricky.
