you need a corset because it helps your waist slim and pushes your boobs up

and before you say "if you are fat don't cosplay as black cat" well the fact is hardly anyone has boobs that big and a waist that small(and the ones that do arent geeks)
so no one would ever cosplay her

Seriously - people who have to put glitter on EVERYTHING. I shit you not.
Instead of just paint or applique which would look canon and texture-correct they use glitter and glue believing this will make a garment look glamourous.

And using the bedazzler to add crystals also looks cheap and tacky unless it is part of the costume design.

People cosplaying from Final Fantasy VII is kinda fish in a barrel for pointing out flaws, but the amount of inaccuracies I've seen on Tifas is infuriating:

> Using real hair instead of a wig for her main game outfit when person's real hair is shoulder-length and stringy
> not even bothering with the arm warmers
> using acrylic gloves with buttons for the gloves?? you're not a forever 21 model.
> making the shirt too long or too low-cut. The neckhole comes down to her collarbones, pls stop with the gratuitous cleavage. And there is midriff there so stfu and do some sit-ups b4 the con
> in general people who don't have the proper bust/waist ratio not bothering with bra-stuffing, shapewear or other body wizardy. You don't have to look like a porn star but at least leave your hotel looking like you made effort?
> using a random belt and suspenders you found at Claire's
> wearing shorts
> using uggs, random running shoes or knockoff converse for the boots
> FUCKING. AIRBRUSH. ALL OVER THE FACE.

All told I'm pretty sure there's about 20 good Tifas out there, even less if you only count people who've actually played the game.

And what color would it be if it wasn't under a spotlight?

>> No.6828631

Actually it's pretty likely that it's the same dress. Have you ever seen something covered in that much glitter under the old fashioned stage lights? The lighting and atmosphere was designed to highlight the people on stage and make things look brighter.

Also from an animation/artistic standpoint, the brightness of Jessica while on stage was likely intended to emphasize her presence and roll. Not saying it doesn't look pink, but I'd also like to point out the massive amount of Jessica Rabbit merch over the years that has been red dress/shoes, sparkly or matte.

At this point I give no fucks if Yaya decided to go with the stage look, it just irks me when people defend their reasoning as if there's no other logical argument as to why they might be incorrect.

Since you know your colours so well, let me break this down for you.

Just FYI: I worked on the "special lighting" color schemes for Skull Girls. I made colour pallets for the same characters wearing the same clothes but in different lighting which can dramatically change everything. Not so much here, this is pretty basic stuff.

Her hair, gloves and skin color all tell me that this is the same color pallet and her "normal" scheme but under special lighting.

Questions?

>> No.6828698

The lips in her sparkle dress are the same color as the dress.

The lips in her normal dress, are the same color as the dress.

To me that says it's again just the lighting, but others could see it as her having a different shade of lipstick. That's understandable.

Now her having a different hair and skin color? not so much.

she didn't change it to "cover up more", she had to make the area covering the breasts larger, because she has larger breasts than the character. The amount of fabric is proportional to the size of the breasts. She's just as scantily clad as the character, but if she had the same amount of fabric covering her tits as the character, I doubt they'd be able to cover her nipples. She was just trying to avoid a nip slip, not look more modest.

>> No.6828828

>She was just trying to avoid a nip slip, not look more modest.
That's... the same thing.

And as for being the same... not really? Felicia has pretty big breasts, Yaya's are only a little bigger. Felicia's fur strips only reach to the nipple and are pretty thin (depends on the art you reference, but generally it's about an inch, inch and a half wide). Same deal with the fur full panties because they don't even bother trying to mimic how the fur comes up over the crotch, stops, then the top wraps around her hips and either stops at or connects to her tail, bare-ass (like Cammy).

A full bra and panty like so many people do really does look off, it's one of my biggest pet peeves of Felicia cosplayers. It could be done so much better with a creatively cut bodysuit.

I'm glad people share my pet peeves.
I just don't get how people spend a month on a costume. STARING at reference pictures. And they manage to be like, "oh well, this is how the REAL so and so would do it anyways!".

I can understand in certain situations when something is just not possible outside of anime. But most of the time it's things that are totally easy.

I'm going to throw something out there and see what people think: What about making changes to a costume to make it more modest? Like, lets say you REALLY like a character and their design, but you're a little dubious about doing their design in real life (especially since physics work differently in anime). Do you think that is okay, or just as bad as people who modify stuff so its "sexy"?

>> No.6835075

>>6835055
nah, i think it's okay to modify it either way. other people might point out that it's made wrong or differently, but if it's been done to make the costume more modest you're less likely to get people screaming you're a slutbag who just wants to show off her titties.

if you're not comfortable showing as much skin as the character, why not just see if they have an equivelant outfit that's more covered, or one that you like just as much?

>> No.6835115

>>6835055
I get a lot of shit for making certain revealing cosplays more modest, but personally it makes me feel more comfortable in public. I still love and support the character, but dressing like a stripper is a bit intimidating for less confident people.
I hate the argument "if you're not willing to cosplay the character accurately, then don't cosplay her!" Fuck that, if you love a character, then I think it's fine to cosplay them however you like.

>> No.6835134

>>6835075
Well, I would do the cosplay as is. But I shared that I wanted to do, and people didn't seem to like that idea. Plus I worry about my family seeing, or a potential employer stalking the internet to find out about me and seeing me in a very revealing costume.

And realistically, I am unsure if I can pull it off. For reference, what I want to do is Menace from Queen's Blade. I like a lot of the characters/their designs and stuff; but obviously just wearing underwear is a something they doesn't quite work in real life lol.
I know there is another version of Menace that has her in an outfit with more coverage, and even a version where has a matching bikini to her underwear on. I just like the original design more and basically want to cover up my lower half more is all.

>> No.6835143

Thanks anon. That's how I feel, but seeing people bitch on threads like this makes me wonder if it's actually okay to change a design to make it more modest. Sometimes some things are not going to work. Or you're worried about how people are going to respond to what you have on. I've often made skirts a bit longer and no one seems to care.

>> No.6835155

It really goes down to how you alter it for modesty's sake. There was a girl here last year talking about her modest cosplays. She did Dead Master, but with pants instead of capris and it looked pretty bad because of how wide the pant legs were. If she'd gone with leggings or fitted pants, it would have been a different story. She also had a cardboard scythe and shitty wig, and I'm of the opinion that if you're going to start altering things for modesty's sake, everything else has to be perfect.

After 5 minutes of research it seems you can wear a corset during the 1st trimester of pregnancy, so long as it's good quality. Like crunchs and mild abdominal exercise it should not harm the baby, however it isn't recommended.

What you can wear is a maternity corset, like women wore in the Victorian era. It allows the belly to grow but also offers back support like belly bands do today.

>TD;DR She's probably not harming the baby, you can wear a corset while pregnant, but it should probably be a maternity corset.

The thing about long Sailor Moon skirts is that they throw off the proportions for the rest of the costume. It just looks BAD. Short and with that slight V shape is actually very flattering and makes your legs look longer.
