So, a few questions:

What Homestuck cosplays are you guys working on, and for when?
What Homestuck cosplays are you planning to do?

Me, I'm currently working on God Tier John and God Tier Dave. Dave's outfit is basically complete, just waiting on the cape now. I'm focusing more on John's outfit for now, piece by piece. Buying a pair of shoes and probably a base shirt to print the symbol on sometime this week, next week I'll probably look for a good pair of pants. They're both for a con upcoming in about three weeks.

I'd love to work on Jake English and Dirk Strider after this upcoming convention, and once those two are complete, I will have the two Beta boys and two Alpha boys complete.

Working on fixing up my GT Jade for Fanime. I'm working on a better lighting for my planets and a better way of holding them and keeping them together. Finishing up another hood with a lighter grey rather than the near black I had it before.

The only new homestuck cosplays I have are Godtier Mituna for Anime North, and Jane Crocker with an apron for ColossalCon. My group has loose plans for a guardian group for Colossal as well, but I have a feeling we might bail on it, so Grandma Jade is on my back burner.

I'll be cosplaying as Meenah in a couple weeks' time, and have virtually everything worked out except the wig; all I've done to the one I have so far is trimmed the fringe a bit, but I'm kinda stuck on how to style it. I don't think I've seen any cosplayers try to match the sprite hair exactly apart from putting in waves and curls, but I'm not really sure what to go for. go for full black, that pink tint is sceney as hell. make sure the front curls stay down if the wig isn't a lace front because there's not much to cover your hairline with. Make the braids out of weave, not string.

If I were you I'd buy a curly bob lenght wig, attach the braids an then trim it short. Make sure the wig is full enough so the wefts/seams aren't visible once it's cut short

first post in this thread but personally my preference for block horns vs gradient horns has a lot to do with the overall interpretation. Textured horns with blocked color = wut. Gradient goes with everything. An outfit like >>6820161 looks weird with blocked color horns because everything else is SO detailed and realistic-interpretation that the overly cartoony horns throws it all off.

Both blocked and gradient horns are seen in comic so pick the one that goes best with the outfit and the horn style you've picked.

Shhhhh anon calm down. First of all you are drawing assumptions that are outside the scope of horns. And continuing along the lines of horns, I follow HSG fairly often and I am pretty positive it's been mentioned before that only the Condesce has been drawn with gradient horns, but it's been a while since that particular discussion, so to be fair I could be very wrong about that.

Also, I think blocked color translates very well in real life considering it's actually very easy to execute as opposed to being 2 feet tall and having no arms/nose/ears. Blocked color appears both in the sprites and in hero mode, when Hussie actually takes his time as you've mentioned. I don't feel the color blocked nature of the horns are any different from a characters' hairstyle - aka a canon feature that can be duplicated very well in cosplay.

I don't think the painting style really matters, as long as the horns are regularly shaped and well-made. Of course, as mentioned, color blocking would look odd on realistic. textured horns. I prefer a slight gradient.

Since glasses seem to be a big peeve here for feferi, but goggles tend to look awful even if they don't fog, what would you recommend doing for feferi in terms of aesthetics? Would it be best to get goggles and keep them on or wear them ontop of your head like a swimmer above water?

I personally think that the little bits of hair in front of her fins are much more cute. And come on, when HAVE you seen fins that look nicely attached? from what I've seen, it looks pretty hard. This girl made it work personally. May not be accurate, yes I know, but some times as a cosplayer you need to do what looks best.

Ok, very ture, it's not a "bit" of hair, but from what detail you can see on the fins themselves, they look nice. That's just my preference I guess. It's fine. Can I ask about the goggles though? And the only reason why i was asking about the goggles, was that I'd like a good exsample of a "good" cosplay.
