I was planning on making my scout costume, but buycostumes was having a clearance sale on all official licensed Sailor Moon costumes for only $10 (!). I figured for that price it's not a horrible idea to use as a base. If you're considering changing scouts or are looking for an outfit, it wouldn't hurt to check out that site at that crazy price

Eat lunch early. Seriously. If you do so before the rush, all is well. Once it begins though, you're doooooomed. Good luck getting into anything in that little cluster next door once the rush starts, and there's barely anything else around besides it...

1. expect huge lineups at the Harvey's all weekend if you want to eat there. Sames goes for Timmies, Subway, and any other restaurant around.
2. Pick up your ticket on Thursday if you can, saves you a lot of time and bullshit with lines.
3. If you need water, AN has water stations all over the AA and Dealers Hall area.

Also if you're not completly starving, I'd recommend going to a sit-down restaurant with some friends instead of just doing take out. There's almost never a lineup at the restaurants nearby the con if you want to sit down to eat. And another obvious pro is that it actually gives you a place to sit and eat. Most take-out places are packed and you're going to have to take the food somewhere else to actually eat it

I work in a tailor's shop, so I've got access to formal wear.

That being said, I'm just getting a waist coat, shirt and purple tie and calling it a day. I'll probably just stitch a cutie mark onto the vest and I might spray paint my hair purple and make one of those little horns.

It would be my first cosplay. I'm usually the photographer, heh.

The wig looks alright. The seller has good feedback and I checked the reviews and there isn't a negative/neutral feedback left for that wig so far and over 150 people have bought that style. I'd say go for it, and it looks like you're in the clear as far as the delivery estimate goes too.

Instead of dropping that much for a horn, how about try constructing the horn yourself? All you really need is some clay, paint, and a pair of delicate hands to form the shape of her horn.

There's plenty of Youtube tutorials and guides online for horn making. It's your first cosplay, strive to enjoy yourself in the process rather than blowing your money to try to look perfect. Horns are simple enough to make and are actually a great start to get into crafting, so I'd suggest learning how to do it yourself

if you mix it thoroughly (for 5-10 minutes) it can have an amazingly smooth and solid (hard as fuuuuuuuu) result (especially if you are using a mold before hand) than just sand it down and voila, perfection!

If you're catching the GO bus at the con, be aware that you should wave to the GO bus to indicate you're not waiting for the TTC like most people at the stop. - Dealers room has fairly poor selection at Anime North for a con its size.

- Avoid picking up your ticket on Friday evening if possible. Last year was particularly bad because of some paperwork issue and the hot weather, but it's always a long wait then.

- The schedule's released a week before the con. Use the Guidebook app if you have a smartphone, otherwise print out the PDF (bring a highlighter to mark the final schedule you'll receive at the con - it won't have unremoveable color coding like the PDF version).

- The Sheraton's a good 15-20 minute walk away from the TCC and Doubletree, so make sure to leave time if you're going to/from it. There's a shuttle bus that's fast when it just goes between the two hotels, but if it's going to the TCC it always takes so long to fight through the crowd that walking is actually faster.

- The Sheraton has the best public washrooms. (Futuristic egg urinals for the win!) The TCC ones are fairly ghetto, and most of the Doubletree's just can't handle AN's crowds. The washrooms on the second floor of the Doubletree by the Plaza ballroom are more spacious, though.

- Maid cafe tickets sell out in about 15 minutes. (You can buy tickets to the butler cafe ahead of time, but not for the maids.)

- The Doubletree has a nice pool with waterslides, so bring a bathing suit.

- The Doubletree sells snacks during the con, but they're very expensive. The gas station across the street from the Doubletree has eightpacks of chilled pop for five bucks.

- The flea market (on Friday night) has some amazing deals, despite the absolute best ones getting cannibalized by the other sellers before it opens.
