Is this still even up for debate? I mean, I understand that it's annoying when someone comes here asking the most basic of questions, but I really can't understand getting upset with someone asking a legitimate question. Maybe if this thread were a 'Homestuck Pictures and Drama Bullshit Only', but it isn't- it's a general, and so I think it's fair game to post anything Homestuck cosplay related.

On a similar note: might it be a good idea to start stickying either a couple of links to helpful basic tutorials (Hanyaan's makeup tutorial, for example), and/or the HomestuckCosplayHelp tumblr? Iirc there's a bunch of different sellers (and perhaps different factories) using the same photo, but I have a couple of friends with that wig, and have had to borrow and style one myself a few times.

They're acceptable, and the matted top (instead of a small skin top) makes them easier to shape into spiked styles without having to tease or heat the base for volume. The feathered ends are good if you're going for the messy look, but aren't so great if you want more solid, defined spikes. They're also natural black, which might suit some people's skin tones better.

I don't really like the fibres because they are kind of cheap and plastic-y, turn up shiny in some lighting, and sometimes get messy underneath and itch like hell. But I just prefer more matte, wiry fibres and thicker wigs so that's just my personal preference.TL;DR good, but not great.

Mine were made of just model magic, which was probably not smart of me, but I was young and stupid when I made em. 14 inches long, kept em in one of those plastic tubs and rotated them every few hours for a few weeks. didn't crack or anything.

I didn't want to at first because of the trolls tbh. /co/ was flooded with them and for some reason they just rubbed me the wrong way even though I didn't know about them. I eventually got over the Trolls though I'm generally ambivalent about them as a whole.

Hey, /cgl/stucks, could I ask for a little help? I'm going to be cosplaying Snowman at a convention at the beginning of July, and I'm not sure whether to go with a full zentai or a hood. I've found a few places for both (zentai-zentai for a full suit, eBay has many hoods), so either would work.

Also, does anyone know how I could do her hat? Currently I'm looking for a hat with a round top and I'm thinking of making the brim for that, but if anyone could give advice with the whole hat, that would be lovely. I couldn't find any tutorials, or someone to ask about the hat, but worst case, you could try using metal to make a base for the hat by using two circles (one for the brim the other at the cap's base) with wires connecting the two crisscrossing for more definitive shape?
That's the way I'm planning on making a less drastic hat in a month or so, anyway.

You're going for the more 'canon' carpace look, so I'd say go for the galaxy coat. It'll pop against the rest of the outfit's stark black and look pretty drastic!

I'm gonna sew at least three of those things together and I picked up something from a Feferi cosplayer that soaked her wig in salt water. It (admittedly) kinda fucked it up but it gave it a rough sort of bouncy texture so I might soak the top wig and back comb the bottom two until I get it all vaguely mane-looking. And some sort of harness for the horns underneath it.

Bad character design makes sure that Troll cosplayers look like tools no matter what.

Spackle works really well, just don't go with the really soft lightweight crap. It seems good but it just cracks more with each layer. If you remake them again, I recommend wrapping the tinfoil base with masking tape beforehand. I did that , put a thin layer of paperclay, and I only got two thin cracks which were easily filled and sanded down with more paperclay.

Sounds pretty good. I've been waiting for a good GHB for a very long time, he's probably one of my favorite HS designs. I hope you post progress pictures+end result here. Also, when combining the wigs, I recommend actually sewing the wigs onto one another for more volume (if you weren't already going to), and cutting some layers onto each wig so you can sort of spike it outwards,etc. The wig is where most GHBs go wrong (those fucking black mullets and bob marley wigs), so do be careful with that.

It depends. Are you filling a crack, or covering a base with spackle? If filling parts, yes, it should be fine. Actually, I've had rather large props with a few layers of spackle across the entire thing and while a little heavy, it sands really well and provides an even texture. I'm not sure if there are multiple brands, but if you go to home depot I usually get the green tub of spackle. That stuff is magical.

Though I agree with you to some point, there is a difference between pants made for girls, and pants made for guys. The shape is completely different, and a lot of ftms wear pants made for girls which only makes their hips/girly figure more apparent. You can have pants that don't show your curves whilst still making them fitted enough. At least, I think that's what the discussion's about anyway.
