The thing is I don't see a sailor coord as dark since common colors are navy or white. You can always opt for a straw hat instead. I'm going to probably use a dark blue beret.

An A-line sounds good. Cupcake/really poofy comes off as "sweet" or youthful. I think it's all on your preferences. You can accessorize with grey anchor jewelry maybe.

Go with black, not navy and not a pure white dress. PLEATS not just a gather for the skirt. A-line is a much better option that a bell skirt, good idea. I know sailor lolita either does plain tights or striped tights, but I would probably try to avoid both.

I don't wear it exclusively, but I have 5 sailor specific dresses from various brands (one is more rockabilly than lolita, however), 2 "themed" dresses from AatP that work for sailor lolita when worn with a collar blouse, 2 skirts, and 4 cutsews, 2 jackets and 3 boleros that are all sailor collared. Most are in black x white, but the cutsews are sax, red, navy and pink, one dress is ivory x gold, and others are navy x white, pink x white and red x white. That mentality makes some sense, but still, if you just get married and have kids because you're ready, you might just be ready to do those things instead of actually in love with your spouse/whoever you're raising your family with. So that can be a big problem.

I don't know, I'm biased. I don't think getting married young is a good idea. Most people in my family dated for years and years to be sure that they found the right spouse/partner. Even my grandma dated for a long time, she married when she was 24 in an era where marrying out of high school was the norm.

Just use any pattern or tutorial people post. Instead of attaching it to a shirt/dress collar, just sew that inside portion partially closed like the outer edges, flip it right side out, then slip stitch the opening shut.

Aloe is your best bet for healing the burn, but you can also use a thick lotion to prevent the skin from peeling. Vaseline brand barrier lotions are really good for this. Just make sure you don't wear any clothing that will be laying on top of it as it can make them greasy.

The RHS would probably look best around your ankles with some frilly crew socks as someone said. Also, it might be boring, but a standing pose will probably show off your coord better, or just a more demure seated pose.
Maybe it's something to do with underarms not being a common sight in Lolita?

Anyway, I really believe this is the firm foundation of a good coord. It just needs a little shining.

I live at the beach. It gets hot. Maybe I should have called it casual instead, since I don't meet a lot of the criteria for lolita. The pose was off the cuff. The wind was blowing my hat away (as you can tell, I was on the beach), and I was pointing at a boat when my sister took that shot. I thought it looked cute, but I'll try different poses.

Ankle socks are going to take some getting used to for me, but I'll start tying my straps around my ankles. The seated pose was a little awkward, I was basically leaning up against a rock and had trouble maintaining my balance. I was going to wear wrist cuffs and decided against it, now I'm glad because I have tan lines where my bracelets were. I have definitely learned my lesson about skin care in the sun!

I was wearing a petti, it was just my deflated crushed one that I wear normally to smooth out my overly fluffy pettis. But I'm fine with just calling it a sailor outfit. I'll try tying the laces around my ankles next time. I've never done it before because they are leather and I thought it might warp them or something.

Hey, /cgl/. I've been meaning to get into lolita for a while and this thread got me inspired! I made a pretty shitty first time coord. Any advice?

Lose the hat on both.

For the right, get a red hairbow or something instead, and maybe a red necklace to tie the top in with the red shoes and bag.

You might want more interesting socks/tights too but for a simpler coord plain tights are probably fine.

I'm iffy on the black boots, they match but those heels are really too strippery for lolita, unless you're doing a much more mature pirate coord. They don't go in feel with the cutesy dress.

In general, try to dress down the costumeyness of the dresses, becuse right now you're only enhancing the costume-ness.
