There were two girls who had organized the meetup, and were also conji staff. They gathered us at the beginning of the meetup and said, basically, that people without badges weren't allowed to be there, and that if con staff saw them, they'd risk getting themselves booted from con AND getting the two girls in trouble as well. Yep, that's literally exactly what I worked out for the construction of my friend's Mituna bodysuit. A material like spandex doesn't fray so if you cut it neatly and your topstitching is nice and pretty, it'll look just fine. Much better than paint, imo.
Though, of course, spandex isn't for everyone. I was just lucky to have previous experience there.

Semi-relatedly, Homestuck turns out in droves for Momocon and AWA, but proportionally speaking there should be way more of y'all at Dragon*con. I just want to airlift everyone I see crammed into an Otakon photoshoot to the Hilton steps. At least Momocon pulled a short-step shoot this year (the big ones were taped off for some reason).

Dragoncon actually had a very small shoot last year re: the number of people at the con itself (couldn't have been more than maybe 60 HSs or so). Dragoncon's average attendee age skews toward the 40s, and I'm guessing a lot of the teens from the atlanta area didn't want to buy the $120 badge required to get in.

I am actually so glad that most of the shitty HS fans are moving onto Dangan Ronpa. I don't have much interest in DR because after being in this fandom for so long, I am for sure NOT going to dive into something else with a possible chance of an even bigger fandom. To be honest, this is never, ever going to happen. Dangan Ronpa is not nearly as accessible as Homestuck and never will be. It isn't even officially available in English. You are pretty much delusional if you think that Dangan Ronpa is ever going to reach the level of Homestuck- for it to get there, you'd have to start seeing non-convention Dangan Ronpa meetups popping up everywhere, meetups of hundreds (thousands?) of cosplayers at major conventions, recordings of a million+ unique hits per month on the LP, etc etc.

Is Dangan Ronpa popular right now? Yes. Is it the next Homestuck? No. Barely a fraction of the fandom is moving onto DR. It's nothing but a drop in the bucket to Homestuck.

The shape is pretty nice but if you're trying for a larger and rounder puff then you'll want to probably put interfacing on the sleeve then sew as you have it pinned now. It's a lovely shape as is but I think they're a bit bigger canonly.
