Hey cgl,
cosplay and lolita are wicked expensive hobbies, so what are ways, other than "working 7-4 M-F"? What are some alternative ways you fund your hobbies?

I recently lost my job and have been looking for 5 months with no luck and still have a cosplay costume to finish up by july so other than whoring myself out, i'm willing to do most anything for cash, so please give me ideas!

I used to work at a Sanrio, and when the store closed because business sucked, they didn't actually "lay us off" so we couldn't collect unemployment because Nakajima USA is the shittiest company in the world.
(SAGE+ protip: hole in the wall Sanrios are easy as fuck to steal from because they refuse to put cameras in them and the employees don't design the store, corp does and for some reason find it's a good idea to keep smaller items, stamps, pencils, phone charms, etc in the corner furthest away from the register. I also hate the company so feel free to have sticky fingers.)

Anyway, when that happened I just went to a Hiring/Temp agency and got easy as fuck work which brought in a lot of cash, so I suggest going that if you're having a hard time finding work by yourself.

I hope one of those girls who sell their panties post in this thread because I'm thinking of doing that on the side aswell, but don't know where to start or where to sell, or even how in a way to keep me safe. If anyone knows +2 invisible internet points for you if you tell us how you do it.

A previous thread had a girl recommending eBanned. Her precise suggestions were:

>Include worn photos
She also said that it's best to post ones with your face hidden/cropped from the shot. They don't give a shit about your face and it can actually ruin their illusion of "pure young maiden" since most girls over 18 don't look it in the face.

>Don't be afraid to say that "this is (your) first time"
Apparently, some of the fetishists ONLY collect first-timers' used undies. Again, that whole purity thing.

>Offer to take special requests from the winning bidder.
This can mean anything from special, exclusive photos to masturbating/urinating/whatever in the panties. You can set limits on this, of course, in your listing, but that limits your market.

>Don't be afraid to chat the creepers up
They will message you in advance and try to establish a connection so that the panties they buy are "personal" to them.

>Get a PO box at least two zip codes away from your residence. Never mail from your nearest post office.
It's inconvenient in terms of mailing, but it makes things safer if you're worried about these guys tracing back to you.

>> No.6773206

>>6773203
Thanks for the advice!
I'll probably not take requests because for me, just chatting the creepers up is enough for me..
But I work 3 towns away from where I live so I could just get a PO Box there and do it during lunch.
I don't need enough money to live off because that's what my job is for, but will be used for extra spending money.
Do you happen to know how much a pair sells for?

I've just recently closed down my little personal business which I'd started on ebanned years ago. I'm looking for careers and I don't need anything like that showing up about me.

So I didn't do panties, I did socks. And because of that I showed my face which got me tons and I mean fucking tons of business. Guys liked that I refused to take off my clothes for the camera, that I wouldn't talk dirty past a certain level, and that I offered video of me wearing their socks or pantyhose or whatever with their item for a fee.

So if you don't want to do the "be naked hide your face" thing, you can easily do it the other way around.

Also, I started with panties but they sold like shit because they're so many of them! I had so so much better luck with foot fetish sales and in some ways it was a lot less creepier.

Mostly you need to know how to "act" with different customers. Some guys want to be completely dominated by a girl and some just don't.

You will need a PO Box though. It doesn't have to be a far away post office, just don't use your real damn name and its fine. Make a new gmail for your fake persona and run with it.

Everyone wants to hear about the cash so I'll say that with socks and with not putting tons of effort into it, I made roughly $100-300 a month. It could clearly be more if you focused on it more than I did. I also made an extra $50 or so from youtube ad revenue because I'd started an account to save footage of me wearing the socks I was selling on ebanned. After the first year, I had so much interest from my 5,000 youtube subscribers that I never even posted listings on ebanned.

I don't care how you guys on 4chan feel about somethingawful but go into google and type in:

The money is in furries. I'm in a very niche scene so I'm a 'big fish' but there's so much promoting and chatting involved that I usually can't be bothered, I probably only pocket £20-40 a month at most. If you want to just draw generica bdsm, guro or vanilla hentai you're competing against thousands of free images and you need a real fanbase.
Successful Furry artists can take around £150 a month or more.

Please please please girls, unless you're not considering a serious career, never, just NEVER show face no matter what in this kind of situation. Even if your clothes are on. Naked with no face is so much safer than what this girl's talking about. Sure her clothes might be on, but she is still catering to sexual fantasies, thus any potential employer is just going to handle it the same way as if she were fapping on camera with a cucumber in her ass.

... are you fucking serious?

Okay, let me break it down for you even though this is just common sense.

The second you post your face you lose whatever "strict control" you think you might have regarding your personal information. Whether it be from someone recognizing you, someone wanting to dox you to be malicious, or someone stalking you, you always run the risk of your real name being connected to that picture. IE, it coming up in a Google search, which pretty much all serious employers for non shitty jobs do on any potential employees.

They will see that you are catering to people's sexual fetishes for money. It doesn't matter how "PG" you try to keep it, you're still getting people off with the full knowledge of doing so for financial gain, which is not PG. Not at all. Employers won't care that your clothes are on. All they'll care about is that you're intentionally using your sexuality for monetary gain.

Meanwhile of the girls in one of my grad seminars:

>#3: took 2 years off school because of depression and let her boyfriend support her while she did nothing, while a male in the program went through crippling depression when his father died and kept going because he couldn't afford to simply sit on his ass
>#4: flirts to get other people to do her work

It's a crime that women have these options available to them. It's simply human nature to take advantage of this shit, but it's only really made _acceptable_ for women. I just feel bad about that. Reminds me of a quote in Wollstonecraft's Vindication of the Rights of women, can't remember it exactly, but she compares the sexual/romantic deference paid to women by men as a gilded throne, but one that keeps them perpetually a child.

>> No.6773787

It's still your own merit. You're just using a set of skills/traits that aren't talked about in polite company.

Conversely, of all the girls/women I know only one has been a prostitute. Because she used to live in Pakistan, was bride-kidnapped and brought to Dubai, and had to make money fast to get back to her family (who then moved here to avoid the same thing happening to her again or one of their other 3 daughters).

>> No.6773796

>>6773787
I don't know about that. I have no real inherent merit. I'm a dude. Gay guys like me, sure, but with nowhere near the intensity that beta and omega males love women. If I want to be meritorious I really need to take the empty nothingness inside me and replace it with effort. I need to tear down what I am and build what I want to be. Women apply effort, I agree - they have to lift their arm to apply eyeshadow, after all - but it's effort that maximizes or enhances a pre-existing inherent value.

There's something called capital, that is essential to labour theory and social theory in general. I have no capital except my labour. If another man has more capital (i.e. the ability to make use of labour) than me, he either stumbled into a raw resource by luck, inherited it, or worked for it himself. If a woman has more capital than me.. it's almost guaranteed to be what sociologists call social capital, and increasingly more commonly sexual capital. Males have 8-10x as much testosterone, because women are supposed to be desired, and men desirous. It ensures that men do work and women don't have to jeopardize their baby-making (or rearing) capacity by chasing tigers.

Feminism realized this at a certain point but that was loooooong ago. There used to be women who would repudiate their sexual capital in order to assume a level playing field with man, and be forced to achieve just as much as him. It bums me out that that doesn't really exist as an ideal anymore.

Once you've sold a lot and have written a lot of stories, setting up a FB or a twitter account for your penname is a good idea.

Nigga fuck off, everybody has different privilege, and it depends on their circumstances and not their gender. Plus, a rich fat girl has privilege of being rich, but she's fat, while a skinny thin poor attractive guy has the privilege of being wanted and thin, but he doesn't have that privilege of being rich. Get your facts right. Men are statistically more *successful* at suicide because they have are statistically more likely to have access or know someone who has a gun they can use. Women statistically do not have the same availability, and opt instead for pills which leave a greater chance of someone finding the person and rushing them to the hospital/intervening. It's not attention whoring, its the availability and lethality of the method in question.

In 2010, there were 129,000 registered gun-owner (1.3% of the population) in Hungary with 235,000 weapons. Generality of whom were hunting guns and handguns for self-defense.

As a result of very strict controls, gun ownership in Poland is the lowest in the European Union, at one firearm per 100 citizens.

The weapons law begins by stating "No-one shall possess a fire-arm or fire-arms or a sword or swords", and very few exceptions are allowed.

I personally find our over sexualized society to be a bit disheartening. I'm not offended, it's just sad to me. It's as if people have become so desensitized they think it's fine and normal to do that sort of thing casually. It's like people are so sexual that we're slowly but surely becoming a culture of nothing but sex objects and losing very meaningful parts of ourselves. Obviously sex shouldn't be taboo, but it shouldn't be some sort of casual, marketable thing.

The guys tend to be way more innocent and naive the girls, I'm not talking about looking at hentai or whatever, I'm talking about having actual life experience and knowing how things actually are. You take some average guy from /a/ and he's a virgin who's obsessed with some 2D girl who's probably just as naive as him, now on /cgl/ girls have boyfriends and have been in several relationships.

Not "normalfag" in the sense that they watched dubbed anime on VLC and talk about Naruto with their friends in public, but in the sense that they are not spastic weebs who trip over themselves at the idea of moving to Animeland and survive on a diet of pocky and ramune. They are people who enjoy anime and calling each other names. To define them all as one entity and to assign certain qualities to them in spite of the board size and impossibility for accurate data gathering is full retard.

The word normal gets thrown around a lot, often as a makeshift insult, but the intent of the poster and the reality of the situation don't seem to mesh well.

The commonly shared qualities are an enjoyment of anime and the camaraderie that arises on every nearly online community.

I understand that people who don't have a lot of interaction with others may not understand this, but it's very simple. If you make a big deal of it, it becomes a big deal - whether positively or negatively.

If you act apologetic and scared that you like something, people will be suspicious of you. If you act overly proud and boisterous that you like something, people will be annoyed with you. You have to go for the middle ground and act as if it's the most normal thing in the world and you are not effected either way.

Dealing with people is not black and white. No, I'm not saying you need to run up to her and hit her with your dick while reciting a song about how being a virgin means you're going to become a wizard. You don't have to act offended, you don't have to agree. You don't have to react at all.

People think my jap related hobbies are lame as fuck and basically make me a stupid, uneducated person who is obviously in love with Japan in every way and I'm female.

It seriously does change how people think about you and how much they respect you, that's why people suppress their powerlevels.

I've told friends I've had for months that I like anime, and the change is immediate. It attaches itself to you like a barnacle. You go from "anon" to "anon who likes anime."

If you know how to deal with people, then you're relatively "normal". Everyone has trouble with finding a good match/mate. EVERYONE. Everyone. A lot of people don't actively seek one, even! Imagine that. A bunch of nerds on /a/ are not exclusive to this.

>>6775172
Did you treat it like a coming-out-of-the-closet type deal or something? If you didn't, and you mentioned it in passing, and they immediately started treating you poorly, they were probalby shitty friends to begin with.

I'm normal in the sense that I can bullshit my way into being "that guy who doesn't talk much but who doesn't do weird shit". That's all I've accomplished.

Now about finding a good match/mate, I don't know where this came from. I don't seek for mates. That's pointless.

You have to consider that men have been in far more perilous and far more trying situations and simply not had the opportunity to do what you're considering. There's a reason that the vast majority of homeless are men, and women tend to rebound out of homelessness very quickly. One of the reasons pay gaps still exist is that men are more willing to do whatever it takes to get, keep, or advance in a job. It's because "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" - those men have become inured to facing hardships and overcoming them, while no one other than themselves gives two fucks about whether they fail.

Ultimately you gotta do what you gotta do, but you are setting a precedent for the rest of your life here. You have an opportunity to evade the construction of what we call "character" by taking an easy road. Men are blessed for not having such an opportunity.

>For a man of character, in certain situations, there is only one course he can take. The man who in the same situation sees two courses open to him may be an artist in living, but is hardly entitled to respect.

Yeah naw, I would just mention a show or film I liked.

I mean, sure, maybe they were just "shitty friends to begin with," but it's happened many times, and to other people I know too (most of my closest friends are also powerlevel suppressing weebs except around each other). It's happened enough I'm ready to say it's a real phenomena and I don't judge anyone for hiding their weeaboo interests around normalfags.

Everyone is a bullshitter, as well. You're not special in that area either. That doesn't make anons a bunch of lonely virgins. i'm from /k/ and i like lurking on /cgl/

expensive hobbies generally need a stable income and crafts or skills gained from the hobby are a sure way to put back into it.

i collect a lot of firearms, and i invested some cash into going to armory school. combined with regular shooting, i do little gun smithing jobs for people for just enough money to fund the hobby. everyone wins.

for cosplay or lolita, why not make textile crafts. don't just limit it to clothing - try leather or working with nylon to make durable bags or other containers.

for people looking for work, i went for a few months between jobs and nothing gets attention like volunteer work. you feel good about yourself - you don't get depressed by being inside all the time and wallowing in problems, you meet new people and get your name out there and it looks fantastic on a resume when you can show that you have world experience in a wide variety of tasks and are ready and willing to put in the effort to be productive - even if it isn't in your field.

for those in here that are doing the whole "women have it easier then men"; there's nothing inherently wrong with that since if there's a market for a product, there's a merchant willing to sell. to put morality on how you make your money - as long as everyone involved agrees to a deal - is juvenile.

when i was in college and grad school, a number of students (more women than men, but still both sexes) did the escort or stripping thing. it's a job like any other, and some liked it enough to keep at it. instead of thinking less of them, it would be better to remind yourself that if you think a woman selling her body to men to make a buck is bad; how awful are the men that have to spend the cash to get some action?

about the only real advice i have on it is to keep it strictly business, watch out for yourself, and make sure it's something you WANT to do, not something you HAVE to do.

>> No.6776019

>>6774825
The minority of females who actually do this are are loud, attention-loving girls. So of course you'll only hear about them doing it. You just don't hear about the rest of the women willing to work, because, well, they are working instead of being obnoxious about selling their bodies and have normal jobs.

Men seem to forget that all women don't 'have it easy'. No one would pay for my ass. Ugly girls have to work hard.

So stop condemning the entire gender. You should be jealous of attractive people. Those are the people who go places and get life on a sliver platter if they are male or female.

If you are ugly or fat? Sucks to be you. You need to WORK.

>> No.6776160

>>6776134
You can fix fat. And you can blur your face out for ugly. All you need is a decent enough body. If you can't even work out for your body to look good, you aren't trying hard enough. Also, makeup is always available. Facials, bb creams, concealers, hundreds of different fashions. Don't use the "i'm too ugly/fat" card. It just doesn't work when things like that can be so easily fixed. We have the technology.

>> No.6776358

I don't hate men, they just scare me. They're bigger than me, stronger than me, and could probably snap me in half. If they're willing to pay for videos of my feet (and I do take good care of them) then that's a service I'll provide. What's wrong with that?

Don't get me wrong, there are the rare few that have wonderful genetics, and were raised eating certain foods at certain amounts, which happen to be their maintenance to stay fit, but most of them have to work.
You could do squats, lunges, amongst other workouts to get your rumpus into fine shape if you wanted to. Obviously if you're a paraplegic or a few other things it would pose a much much greater challenge, but you get the idea.

I was able to make some money off of fiver, but of course, you get like $4 for every little drawing or whatever-it-is that you do. I was offered money to do some drawings for people outside of fiver, mostly in the furry genre (not sexual art, surprisingly, just OCs), but I don't feel confident enough to take more than $5 from people for a sketch. I might get back into it. We'll see. Back when I was younger, I was able to sell pixel art I made for like $5 a piece, too.

I know some of you will complain about this, but for a year, I did make money selling baby hamsters and rehoming older hamsters in general. Not sure if I profited that much from this. I also resold wigs locally that I didn't want or wore once -- I actually made a profit off of wigs that I had worn, because it seems like people didn't want to wait for the ebay wigs to arrive. Plus, I got mine off of taobao for the most part. I sold (locally, again) a few cheap seifuku that I got off of taobao. To be honest, I generally sold a lot of stuff that I didn't want or use anymore on kijiji and craigslist.

I work two pt jobs now while going to school. I don't even know what I'm spending my money on, but it's all going away so quickly. Good luck finding a job, anon. Don't whore yourself out unless you really want to.
