Somewhat related question, but is a height of 5'2 too tall to cosplay Koichi? I know he's officially around that height, 5'1 or so, but considering most JoJo cosplayers aren't that tall, would it look awkward?

The end of ep 26 (this morning) had Old Joseph in the airport and bitching out a kid for being Japanese, a silent Jotaro in the shadows in a jail cell, and Dio's coffin getting hoisted from the ocean. There's plenty of screencaps of this. It's not part 3 immediately, but if that isn't the next best thing to part 3 official announcement I don't know what is.

I'm working on the same thing for multiple cosplays that require muscled physique. If you haven't done any lifting previously, it'll take some time to get built enough. I've been lifting pretty regularly for the last 2 years and working on cutting down, and I'm probably still not going to be totally big enough.

My feeling on it is get atleast some basic ab definition and bulk on the arms, then accentuate with makeup. Lurk /fit/, read the sticky. We're all gonna make it brah.

Getting to Part 2 physique would take years unless you're already a bodybuilder of sorts, because back then Araki drew his heroes really buff. But he has drawn sleeker versions of older character designs for compilation images and whatnot recently.

My point is focus more on the outfit and the colors, the JoJo universe doesn't have really canon colors for the characters but pick one scheme and try to make it flashy. That and just remember to act like him. Still I can appreciate trying to get the physique as well, because buff Jospeh is best Joseph and so far I've mostly seen skinny Joseph cosplays.

I've been watching my cousin's work out progress for the past year or so. He's concentrated so much on building up his biceps and upper torso(mostly the biceps), that he looks disproportionate because his legs are nowhere near as defined as the rest of him. JoJo TV has the second highest BluRay sales for any of the shows airing in its season, even if there was a slight drop in sales from the first volume.

There wasn't a confirmation made in the initial plans for further than part 2, but considering the end of the part 2 anime and how ridiculously popular part 3 is, I think if they DON'T continue, it's most likely because Warner Japan hates money.

I started with the anime and I'm currently reading Part 3 right now; I'm at the Deep Blue Moon fight. It's pretty awesome

Basically I'm figuring they'll do Neptunia, and then we'll get Jojo this fall. Which isn't a bad deal - it would be nice to not have to wait, but at least this way we'll know they're doing a good job and not rushing shit.

I was thinking about something in the ballpark of 10-15, but in order for it to be accurate it would have to be in the 30+ range. My SAS dio only comes with around that many, and he looks fine. Now, this is an SAS and not like, a real person, but there's a point where the knives become ludicrous.

The SAS is being the most helpful thing right now, even though it is still just a figure, it is a much better representation than the manga where Dio has a metric fuck ton of knives. As long as I can have two handfuls and some in my belt, I should be fine, Right?

I don't know if I want to throw all practicality out the window with this costume, just because I care about our Lord Dio so much that I want to make sure to do him justice. But having a good number of knives, a Left Turn Sign should be enough for the pictures I need.

They are absolutely brilliant for the little details, especially when you're coming to cosplay a character. It's one of the reasons Giorno has roadroller'd his way into the next Jojo Cosplay I am doing.

Also, keeping figure parts in a 5 dollar tackle box is a great way to avoid everything from falling on the floor, even if the box falls.

Sorry I had to save this off my blog but I was wondering, do you think the blue in the bottom corner would be good for Narancia, or should I go for navy blue vinyl? I wanted to do a blue and orange color scheme and I plan on using the orange in this picture as the base for the butt skirt.

One trick that I have learned to do with Jojo's color schemes (when trying to figure out what will look good or not) is to find the stock images that Medicos puts up on their website and fuck around with the Hue/Saturation and Selective Color tool in photoshop. More often than not, Araki's art work follows a vague set color scheme, where the main costume will have very similar complementary colors (Blue Giorno's gold: Pink Giorno's green).

Though they're are exceptions, this trick normally works for me! And using this trick I think that the blue would look good with the orange you have!

Part 2 characters give a lot more leway when it comes to cosplay because their costumes are dynamic throughout the part and artbook sketches. There is also a lot of liberties taken in fanart and cosplay as well.

I'd say your safest bet would just be a brown blazer with 3/4th sleeves (either cut that way or rolled up) Regardless of your gender, I'd probably buy a woman's jacket, because they're going to look more like what you're going to want in the end result.

There's basically two seperate layers of applique there. I did all the squares individually first (basically sandwich it between two layers of stabalizer and stretch stitch over everything carefully, pic kind of related) and then laid all the squares out over the silver skirt, basting-sprayed them in place, and did it all over again with the skirt.

Do whatever you'd do for normal cosplay, I suppose, though the whole waif thing that is all the rage right now isn't quite as appropriate for a lot of the characters as it is for some other costumes.

There's several options. If you're using vinyl embroidery is out, although you COULD sew down some stretchy cord with a zigzag. There's also puff paint. I think it's Jones Tones that's super stretchy? Not sure how it'd stay on vinyl.

As with a couple of other cosplays, the colours are a little too bright. Trish is meant to be pretty fashionable like most of the Part V cast and most of their colours(save Giorno's pink outfit) aren't all that bright. That style with Trish kinda looks cyberpunk more than anything.

It's a shame because it's good aside from that. IT's just for Part V especially the outfits should look as much like actual fashion as possible, rather than costumes(except maybe Mista's).

MAC lipmix - basically they're little tubes of pigment, you just mix them to the color you want and you're good to go. Its pretty permanent too, it'll last on your lips for hours.

What I've been doing is using some Maybelline color tattoo in white and just dabbing a little on my lips to give it a bit of shimmer, the lipmix stuff is fairly matt.

I've actually seen a hipster dude dressed a lot like Narancia before. Weirdly strappy tank top, skinny jeans, scarf around hips, shaggy hair with a scarf in it. I had to try to not laugh because it was so accidentally dead on.

i hope that the anime airing brings some jojos out of the woodwork who have been fans for ages but have been too afraid to cosplay from the series.

i honestlly want to see a lot more part 5 cosplays this year, and i am thinking of doing a ghiaccio. before the anime aired i thought no one would get it but i think i might sum up the courage to actually do it now!!

well not in design or execution, it's mostly affording stuff really. i need to save up for books for next semester, and i wasn't really thinking of doing ghiaccio until much later in the year (preferably a con with snow, because of white album) but i'll try my hardest to see if i can get it done for fanime! the chances are slim to none though

At first I was going to say "oh anon come on now, Koichi isn't the only option for a short guy" and then I saw his pic enlarged. Yeah, you should be Koichi. If you want to bling it up a bit you can look at the art books and find one of the oddly colored gakuran illustrations. You should also look into some of the part 4 antagonists. A lot of them aren't super tall.

If you don't mind playing a white character, you could also consider trying Narancia or one of the early Phantom Blood kids.

How tall are you though? There's plenty of short people who cosplay JoJo without looking stupid.

You can either do a lacefront, or fake a hairline... for the latter you can google some tutorials, I don't have one on hand at the moment, but basically its glueing some spare hair to the front to give it a more natural looking front... (that make like, no sense XD)

But yeah, generally, you're going to end up using a lot of hairspray.

The antagonists... eh, I would just suggest reading part 4 to see if there's anyone that catches your eye (lol duwang,) but I don't know if I'd call the shorter bad guys very memorable. You may not want to do some of them if you don't have a group.... there's a lot of normal clothing in part 4, moreso than like, the rest of jojo

Can I request some good part 4 cosplay? Japanese or other parts of Asia or lolwhitepeople all of it is fine! I just want some DUWANGs.

Do you think it'd be possible for a chubby person to portray a JoJo character right? When it comes to JoJo cosplay, are posing and characterization more important than how one looks like?

I'm thinking of cosplaying Lisa Lisa. I can pull off her serious, no-nonsense look, but I'm short and chubby. Not hambeast-level, but still quite chubby.

I think it depends on the character. Lisa Lisa might be harder if you're both short AND chubby, so you better get everything else perfect.

A lot of people are going to /fit/fag but the important thing is to preserve the overall vague silhouette more than the precise level of muscles. If you're too fat to have a waist it's going to look bad, but if you're not quite as thin as the character it's a bit harder.

Regardless if I saw you at a con I'd be delighted because you're cosplaying a JoJo character.

However.... if you're short and chubs and love JoJo, have you considered Shigekyo from part 4? I'm starting to think I'll die before I ever see someone cosplay that.

Does anybody have any advice for binding as Narancia? I don't want to be using ace bandages or anything but he has that tube top thing with a rather low back and I'm a small C. I can get flat as fuck with a regular binder but all of mine would show with his outfit!

What I have heard from all of the Kakyoin cosplayers I have talked to is just searching Ebay for "Sport Sunglasses" though it may take a while, you can find a perfect pair for like a dollar shipped. I never really got the Kamina/Squirtle Squad/Bro sunglasses compassion, as Kakyoin's have arms like a normal pair.

Also, headband progress feels awesome! But tomorrow I need to stop putting off the inevitable and work on Dio's Leotard/Shirt thing. Hopefully more progress then!

Might wanna hike the wig down a bit but FUUUUUCK YEAH JOJOS

Today I made a hat pattern and most of pants and the wig for my friend's Gyro. Sorry for file size I am phone.

The secret to the hat shape turned out to be masking tape and the hat being shaped really oddly from above http://silencedrowns.tumblr.com/post/49238525892/goddamnit-gyro-zeppeli-your-hat-is-super-stupid and then I ended up having to make it MORE asymmetrical to work on a head

Hermes progress... well, a makeup test + the sweater thing + finally complete wig. I need to do my eyeshadow differently though come convention time, I think.

Looking good, Aniki! That wig is wonderful.

The one thing that stands out is the eye makeup. If you could fix the brow shape that'd be good (needs more arch), but the eye makeup definitely needs tweaking. Stone Ocean has a ton of eyeliner and really defined lower lids with a ton of lower outer eyelashes. Try adding more mascara everywhere especially the bottom and a bit more lower liner, as well as a bit of highlighter under your brows.

I need to acquire an actual eyeliner pencil, I have a bad habit of relying heavily on liquid eyeliner for most characters, but it is BALLS for lining lower lines.

Thanks for the tips though, I'll take it into consideration. I have to find a balance between lower liner and not making my eyes look droopy as hell.

Try using your liquid liner to heavily tightline as well, and apply way too much mascara. If it looks like spider lashes all clumpy and horrifying... well, that's actually what Stone Ocean looks like, hahaha. That eye makeup he drew in part 6 was horrifying.

You might also want to get a lip liner darker than your lipstick and line just outside your lips before putting on the blue; it's too close to your skintone and it just kind of fades into your face. A brighter blue or a bit more lipliner would be great.

I hope you don't think that I'm being a horrible nitpicky anon here. I just love JoJo and your wig and shirt are so great that I want to see your costume shine as much as it really could.

nope nope, that's why I do makeup tests, so I can see what works. I can already tell this is going to require a lot of playing with to get right, since Hermes has such weird makeup going on.

The lips... it is actually lipmix, its not a lipstick, I can mix whatever color under the rainbow I want to. I've actually been debating if I want to do green lips instead of the silver, but either way if its on the pale side I probably will have to edge it in something darker.

If you wanna be REALLY fancy you could cast it out of silicone like Jia's Leeloo suspenders. I've been wanting to do this for a Rohan headband for ages. http://jiajem.com/tutorials/leeloo-suspenders/
