Does anybody know whether customs are still confiscating/destroying packages containing replicas and whether or not this also affects those ordering from the UK?

I'm about to drop a load of money on an assload of fakes and I'm terrified my package will get destroyed.

They do, but it's usually not such a risky business. Recently they had a big crackdown in the US on packages containing imitations, so big in fact that say you order 7 items, if just one of the items is a Gucci handbag, they'll destroy your entire order.

The crackdown is supposed to be temporary and will go back to normal soon, but I don't know whether it also affects the UK.

It's really shitty though. I mean I understand that the laws are in place to protect a designers intellectual property, but I don't think people should be able to dictate whether a piece of basic jewelry or a plain handbag should be exclusive to only those that can afford it; especially when you see just how cheap they are to manufacture.

I didn't see this in the other thread, but does anyone know if An Tai Na shoes are being confiscated? I don't know if they're replica enough.

Also, what if I get a messenger bag and ask the shopping service to pack the replicas inside it? Will customs look through another bag inside the package? Like, I want a VW replica purse and jelly shoes, and I found a big zip up Rilakkuma bag. If I just have the shopping service throw them all in the bag and close it, I feel like customs might not search "that" thoroughly.

They x-ray all the packages so they will see things hidden inside a bag no problem.
What you can do however is in your notes for the order, request that they remove any suspicious looking labels that might give the items away as being replicas. You can also request that the SS hold onto your order for a month or two until this has calmed down.

I just shipped my package using Singapore EMS through taobaoring. Sucks because I wanted to ship SAL to begin with but had to switch cuz I'm so paranoid. I bought some replicas of the brand "gelato piqué" I think it's too obscure to be confiscated but who really knows anymore. It's a group order with my friend's cosplay stuff so I didn't want to risk it. So we'll see if my stuff makes it out ok!

It doesn't matter where it is going. Some countries might pressure Chinese customs for more regulation (like the US stricter stuff recently) but in general they still check.

That seems to be one of the brands being confiscated. Not sure I would risk that one. Smaller, lesser known brands such as lolita brands are generally safe. But big, well-known brands such as designer brands like Westwood, are really not a safe bet.

Usually you can tell that customs has been through your box because it's got tape all over it that says something along the lines of "Searched by Customs" but you don't get a letter or note saying that they've seized particular items. You just kind of find they're not there.

Have you tried looking for the stuff elsewhere? I had a VW armour ring in my order for my Nana cosplay, but I've decided to get it on eBay instead because it'll get through customs. I'm not sure about less generic pieces, but it's worth looking for them elsewhere. Another idea might be to make a separate jewellery order and ask your SS to send them in letters like the eBay sellers do, so you can get them through customs. You're pretty much SOL with the bag, though.

I always see talk about customs searching through packages. What's the talk towards using DHL for shipments? They've been pretty reliable to me in the past, and all I've seen so far is posts about EMS or SAL.

Since it's such a small order, you might want to ask the SS if putting it in a large bubble wrap envelope and airmailing it to you would be cheaper than EMS. That usually takes one or two weeks to arrive after they send it.

Someone asked in the last thread if Canada is checking parcels like the US is, I'm pretty sure they are cracking down too. I have 3 parcels in customs right now, one from Korea, one from my Taobao agency, and one from the states. The package from the States passed through in less than a day, while the Korean and Chinese package has been sitting there for 3 days. Until they arrive I don't know for sure, but as of right now I'm guessing that they are being searched.

I just had my second order ship out from Bhiner last week. I don't have any big complaints, but they're not great, either. (The small complaints I have are the way it's a pain to get items confirmed sometimes. Also there was just one item that hadn't gotten to them when everything else was at their office. I very, highly, extremely doubt that will be confiscated.

The way it works is that the customs officers obviously have knowledge of all the really big brand names, so we're talking Chanel, Gucci, VW etc., those are things that can be recognized by sight.
For other Asian and lesser known big brands that are generally obscure in the West (Liz Lisa is a good example), there is a checklist that the officers carry with them that have the names of these designers written down on them.
When an officer comes across an item they're suspicious of being a replica (this is assuming they even see it in the first place. Opening your box is NOT the same as searching, as when opened they only glance at the top and if there's nothing there they seal it again and ship it off), they will look for a tag/label on said suspected replica and consult the list.

I've looked at your bag, and as far as I can see there's no identifiable tags so you'll be fine. It's bags with things like the Louis Vuitton print slapped up and down them that are the ones you need to worry about, or like the one I'm ordering (picture related) that is pretty fucking obviously a rep. The custom officers do not check every single parcel, that would be impossible, but everything typically goes through an x-ray,and even then they're not going to call in the sniffer dogs if they see a watch/bag on the monitor, they're too busy looking for knives and guns and shit.

I've feel like I've posted in every thread about this, but I had several really annoying issues with Pruany in two separate orders.

The first order, I used them because TBS was having communication issues and not responding to my emails or FB posts on their timeline. They ended ups ending me a pair of damaged shoes and asked me if I could repair them myself when I asked for a refund. They were cheap, so I dismissed the issue. They also sent me the wrong colour for an item (I ordered two pairs of tights; one pair black, one white. Both came in white).

In the end, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, since the items were small/cheap, and tried again.

The second order was an even bigger nightmare than the first. Their shopping cart system magically "changed" while I was in the middle of my order. Two items were out of stock from the shop I initially ordered from (I wanted to save shipping by getting them with other items from the same shop), so they restored that credit to my account. Later that day, I went to readd those items to my order from other shops that had them in stock.

I got a message saying "items arrived, cannot add new items to closed order". Apparently, my other items had arrived at their HQ, so my order was closed. I'd not had this happen in my first order, so I wasn't sure what to do. I submitted a second order and requested that it be added to the first. Nothing happened. So I sent a message to them and asked if they could add the items to my first order.

I was told this wasn't possible. So I asked if they could transfer the balance of my first order to the new order. I was told this was also not possible.

I recently used pruany and everything went just fine. I was a little worried about the English issue but everything worked. Their cart system is a little weird but you figure it out soon enough. They have this option on their cart where you can add a picture of the item so you don't get the wrong color/size/whatever. Haha I don't think you know exactly how slow they are. It's normal for them to completely ignore your order for like 2 weeks. You have to e-mail them saying URGENT, but even then, I had a slow turnaround time. Seriously, just use another service if you're in a rush.
