Ok I just went through /cgl/ and couldn't see one so...WIG HELP

I am looking for a wig to cosplay Amy Pond and I found one I liked at Arda (Buttercup in Pumpkin) but they are out of stock.

What are your recommendations for wig sellers? I have heard of Amphigory but the website is sort of turning me off it...

So general wig help and sellers you all love!

I need sellers who ship to Australia

>> No.6722498

Amphigory is actually legit, but the quality of their wigs has been eclipsed of late.

Check out epic cosplay. Their website is a little awkward but their wigs are excellent, and less prone to tangling then arda's. The wig caps are a touch smaller though.

Any long wig is going to tangle if it's rubbing against something rough, like for example lace on your collar. My real hair is long enough it does this too, so it's not a wig problem really. All you can really do is carefully brush the wig out before and after each wear and treat it with a silicone detangling spray for synthetic wigs.

>> No.6722997

>>6722990
Pretty much this. Even human hair tangles after awhile. Especially the longer it is, the more prone it is.

Pretty much I find keeping a wide toothed comb on hand and combing out your wig every now and then at least helps keep tangling at bay. Motion oil sheen is suppose to be good work spraying on wigs to help fight tangles.

Epic cosplay wigs are pretty thick, so I doubt you'd need to add more wefts. However, using a preparted wig(like Arda's) would probably give you a more natural finish, complete with a part.

Also the company actually has a Mami wig.

Slightly smaller then Arda's. But yeah actually about the normal 22". Arda is well known for having their stuff run larger which is good for bigger heads. stick it on a wig head, braid it, put the wig head in a box.

Alternately braid it, stick a hair net over it, and take care not to mush it somewhere in the bottom of your bag. You could also hang it on one of the little hangers in the passenger window. I imagine that's going to look hilarious to all passing vehicles.

Those are so you can have a 'natural' looking hairline. Like if the character you're cosplaying has their hair pulled back from their forehead, the lace front gives the illusion that it's really your hair coming out of your scalp. Be advised though, spirit gum is involved and it ain't pleasant.

It's not really a bad color as it is though. Natsume's hair runs the scale from white to blonde to brown depending on the art and he and Reiko look alike. If you really feel the color's wrong you can try dye, but I'm going to be brutally honest in that it's highly unlikely people will recognize you in the costume either way except for maybe carrying the book.

Lots of hairspray. Maybe some glue inside. Make a form (some people use tinfoil) to wrap the curl and peal around. I'd buy wefts if you're set on using the Jareth, since I think it's too short in front and bringing the longer hair from the back and sides to the front might make the rest look strange.

First time wig buyer here
Well, I ordered this wig from lucaille since it's pretty cheap. The thing is, the place where the wig gathers together is not tight enough so there is a hole in the middle of the wig (this didn't happen with my other wig).

Around the middle are frizzled and messy short fibers.

Another issue is that, due to the way the store styled it, the back is layered really short, and this makes the behind having a very noticeable bump. I find the bump really retarded.

Perhaps silicone spray would solve all the issues? Should I try to save this wig or just bitch to Lucaille?

My other wig came perfect, except it also has the messy frizzled fibers around the gathering, but at a lesser degree than this wig.

Epic cosplay has terrible customer service anyway. I got a wig from them, and it arrived ratty, and matted as fuck. I took pictures and emailed them. Rep told me that they would refund me and to throw it out, because that was what they would do anyway.

Week went by, still no refund, so I contacted them and a different rep said that until they received the wig I would not get a refund. I sent them pictures of said wig, and the conversation with the other rep telling me to chuck it. They then told me if I threw it out, then I was shit out of luck.

Lesson learned. NEVER throw anything out until you get your refund, even if they tell you to chuck it and you don't need to return it.

As for Arda, I personally love them, however I find they are geared more toward people making and styling their wigs, rather than having pre-styled ready to go wigs.

Does anyone have experience adding wefts to a wig to make it fuller? I have a really nice human hair/blend wig that has some weird wefts that I want to take out and replace with nicer ones. Are there any tutorials for this sort of thing?
note: some of the strands are basically frizzy as fuck and its only a couple separate wefts that look like this the rest of the wig is immaculate.

You could use craft foam, as it is light and stiff so it wont droop. I'd cut a large piece into the shape you want (for this, like a rectangle but thicker in the middle, so when you fold it in half it'll be wide at the edge and getting thinner where it attaches to the head) and cover that in wig fibers. Maybe even separate ones on each side so it's not just one big thing. Pic related. Craft foam is also sturdy enough that you would sew it right into the wig so it's steady.

>> No.6734183

>>6734162
oh my god
that might actually work
i was worried the wig might not support the shape and they wouldn't perk up. This is definitely easy and cheap.
You also have a WONDERFUL picture there. Thanks a bunch!!

I love how uncomfortable my smiley face looks.
Anyway, the hard bit will be getting the size and shape right. Try on the foam and take a picture of that before you start gluing wig fibers on. Then you can compare the picture to the character before you put too much work in.
Also, kind of obvious but get foam that matches in colour to your wig. Good luck!

Sorry, I forgot about this tread until I saw it again.
This is the Assist wig i have, it's light gray with a very subtle warm, pink undertone. The fibers don't seem like they would tangle horribly, similar to Epic's wigs. Up close it's a bit shiny (glossy?) but doesn't look super fake. It's pretty thick too, but the skin top is a little weird, the fibers are so close together you can hardly see it. The fiber colors are mixed too.

Alrighty. Three questions - please forgive my extraordinary newfaggery, but I figure that I'd rather try to improve than remain a shit-tier novice cosplayer.
-If I'm a guy, are most wigs you can buy online going to fit me? Most of the sites display them on female wig-heads or models, but are they sized in such a way that they'll fit most folks, or am I going to have to shop specifically for ones labelled as being men's wigs?
-The same goes for wig caps. I'm guessing with their elasticity that they're one-size-fits-most, but it never hurts to check.
-How are shop.cosplay.com's wigs? They have a couple of wigs that look like they'll suit what I'm doing. The /cgl/ sticky mentioned cosworx.com, and that address now redirects to shop.cosplay.com.

Don't worry about looking for mens wigs, most will fit fine. There used to be an issue with Asian sellers making tiny wigs, but I guess they caught on because I haven't seen anyone with any issues for a while now. Except pre-styled sailor moon wigs, apparently those can be small. Wig caps are one size fits all.
I'd avoid cosplay.com's store. That have a bad rep, and I have received incorrect colours from them in the past. No apologies, just 'xyz colour was sold out, so we sent you this instead'. I would have preferred to cancel my order, but they didn't even tell me they were going to send a different one. There are heaps of good (and cheaper) ebay sellers though, I believe there's an image with a list on it somewhere.

I checked around for wigs, and the best one I found was Lucailles Chibiusa wig because the clip ons look very full. However, I don't like the look of the odangos, they look too pointy. And I can't find anywhere if Lucaille sells loose extension so I can make my own.

2. I'm going to be getting a long with soon for Sailor Pluto and I've heard that Epic Cosplay wigs don't tangle as easily as Arda, but I'm worried that it'll be too small for my head. How much smaller are Epic's wigs than Ardas?
