This is really well taken picture and a decently made costume, but the wig is wrong, and it's really bothering me. Swirl's swirling the wrong way, and she used dark bobby pins that're poking through the hair. Call me nit picky, but it's just enough to bother me.

Bobby pins in wigs is probably one of my biggest pet peeves, honestly. Like, it's one thing if the ones you're using to keep the wig on your head show in one or two pictures by accident, but the amount of Roxys just using them for the curl, etc., is maddening.
Get some fucking hairspray and a blow dryer, it is really not that difficult ugh...

Hey HSG, I'm a first time horn maker and I'm really struggling with it, I'm on my second test pair and it still isn't working so I'm thinking at this point instead of throwing cash away to finally produce something mediocre that I should commission someone instead. I would definitely say go with Lambency. She's the only one with legal permission to do it, and she's an absolute sweetheart. Always offers advice here and is nothing but kind.

I don't think so, and I wouldn't recommend it. The amount of time invested would be a lot, and the results can be unpredictable unless you're already experienced with sharpie dyeing.

I had a really good experience with him at Katsucon. I was meeting him for the first time and he was in his Persona cosplay and I was just talking to him and a friend. He was super sweet and super humble. We had a good talk about cosplay, anime, gaming, etc.

However, no one talking was in Homestuck cosplay or even mentioned Homestuck. So maybe the person who was saying that he's a dick was a stuckaboo to him.

Oh, hello! This is a nice surprise, wow. It's not so much a specific question issue so much as a general failure in all aspects. I've been going by Yaexrae's tutorial, so I've been spraying a big block of polyurethane foam and trying to carve the horns out of that, but it's...awful. It's awful. That stuff is wrecking the skin on my hands, not to mention that I'm completely unable to spacially recognize the horns in 3D as I'm trying to cut, so they never end up in the shape that I want, and once you shave too much foam off there's no putting it back on. I've gone through two cans of this stuff and it's not working. I've even tried to just make the core out of foil, but the shaping on that goes to hell too. I haven't even hit the model magic stage on any of these yet because I can't even get the base down. I'm really at my wit's end.

For the smaller ones you could really cut the foam out of the equation if you have the time to allow for drying of Model Magic [to prevent crack's it's a really slow process of controlling air flow]. Thanks so much for offering your help! I'm trying to make Meulin's horns. Since I've never cosplayed a troll before, and since I'm very new to sewing, I'd thought I'd pick a troll with minimal skin painting required and a more basic outfit since that way I could sew the shirt and stuff to get practice in. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be to keep the slope of her horns even all the way around though.

If you're trying to make them kind of like cat ears then yeah. You might want to get some plastic folder that you can bend easily and make a small arc out of it to rest model magic against so you can get a curve. If you want to just use model magic, sculpt the basic shape and let them dry for a few days. When they start getting harder [you can test by squishing them, if there's a lot of resistance then they should be good. Still squishy, let them dry a few more days] you can take a fine grit sand paper and sand the shape of what you want. The plastic should help keep a curved shape though, if that's what you're going for.

Meulin's are thankfully not too big that you shouldn't really have to need foam but some people do like it better. It's best to test and see what medium doesn't make you stressed.

With drying also, if you use model magic, use a plastic bin like Tupperware to put the model magic in and dry with a crack of the lid open. Slowing the drying process results in less cracking.

I hope that's helped somewhat.

alright HSG, i'm doing grimbark for a night shoot at a con, and i need tips on how to make it not look really awful. i already have a GT jade cosplay, so that's all ready to go, and i use green contacts for jade anyways so they'll be pretty bright against the paint (airbrushing on a dark grey). i'll wear fangs etc etc, but anything else i should be aware of?

Honestly? You're not going to stand out at all no matter what you do. Homestuck cosplay shows up in droves to conventions- especially ones that large. You won't be the only Aradia there, and even if you're the best one present nobody will care that much.

Looks like it. The ears are big, but compared to concept art, they don't seem too far off the mark. I think they look all the larger because there's no bulk to offset them. Hey anon, it's lambency again! I'm not sure if you're still here or not but I had an order of Meulin that I had to sculpt today and thought of you so I took a couple of pictures on how you could go about doing what you were hoping to.

The first image is the first one I finished then rolled out the second horn in to a ball. Usually rolling out and kneading the model magic helps prevent seams which also prevents cracking from happening. Seams = cracks and breaks.

Image two is making it a cone or cylinder like shape to match the height of the other horn. Always compare just in case so you don't get crazy different sized horns.

Image three is using the palm of you hand or the flat surface you might be sculpting on to help shape them in the cat like way you were hoping for. I use the backside of one of those plastic cutting mats and it's smooth enough to help keep things smooth and flat.

Hey so about that 50sstuck Cronus: anyone got any recs when it comes to lace front wigs? I have never worked with that before and I'm not sure what I should be looking for. I was thinking of getting something wavy/slightly curly to make it look more alive rather than the helmet or egg-kind of look that i.e. yonejiro has got for their Cronus

Also, how to do the hairline??

The wig at least has some attempt at styling, horns could be larger but look well made and are the right shape, she has the fangs and the makeup looks nice here, the symbol isn't bad looking to me.

hello, i'm just popping in here to say that this meulin is me! On the topic of the lips, I took advice concerning this for the next time that I cosplayed her, and didn't go the cleft lip route and I found that it looked miles better. I'd recommend leaving it out to all future Meulin/Nepeta cosplayers, it looks really awkward in general and just skipping it is probably the better choice!

Looks pretty good, just a few things though.
You need to work on the posing as a whole, making everyone get a bit closer and posing TOGETHER in some way. It'll seem more uniform and just work nicer.
Help that poor Feferi figure out what shes doing in the pictures
