So, can anyone help me understand exactly what the purchase limits are from the international site? The SF site said two main pieces, but only one of each color, and two accessories per main piece.

Is it correct to assume that the rules for the international site are the same? And, if they are the same, when they say two main pieces, can you buy two of the same style JSK as long as they're different colors? Finally, can you buy a two headbows (one of each color) or would you need to buy one headbow and one bonnet?

Hey, Web Dev loli here.
So, I really don't think that AP International is stocked by a Web Dev; it doesn't need to be. They have a full-function cart system. Those systems are made for lay people to be able to add items to. As far as I know, they pay a 3rd party (Japan-Shops) to manage the shopping cart technology, and most likely the hosting. So we are looking at basically a shop girl / admin assistant / data entry type position, not a professional dev.

Innocent World has someone who has to edit HTML pages for their English site, and AP SF has someone who knows their stuff when it comes to the web, but I'm pretty sure AP international isn't paying a Web Dev to add new products. Not when they could pay a fraction of that for data entry.

If you think Angelic Pretty manages its online shop application and server, you have never even looked at the site URL while you were shopping. It's hosted by JAPAN-SHOPS, a hosting company that does a number of other retailers as well.

I'm sure regular AP staffers just log into the admin console and manage the stock. Not web developers. That would be SUCH a poor use of a web dev's time.

You work with shitty developers if they don't care about the end user. You have to care about the end user. When you miss deadlines, when the usability sucks, when the client isn't happy... the site doesn't preform well and the products don't sell as well and your companies reputation suffers. Good Web Dev is as much about interpersonal relationships with your clients and user psychology as it is about good code. Granted, that's assuming a smaller set up where you don't have a whole team of usability specialists, but let's be frank here, even if AP hired a web dev to do this, they wouldn't have the budget to hire a whole department. They are still a small company. Heck, they didn't even have bar codes on things until really recently. Think about how small or low tech a business that would make them.

anyways, a good web dev, who is worth their salt cares about deadlines, cares about the customer and cares about the end user.

That's not to say deadlines are always made. I know in the web world that missed deadlines happen a lot more often than many other environments, but, in my experience, 90% of the time, it's because we say "I need x from you" to the client and the client doesn't deliver. So we ask again a week later, and again, and again, and it just doesn't get to us on time, and it sucks, because of course the client gets upset, but you can't go "well, if you had just taken the 3 minutes and sent me the photos/text/requirements we could have had it for you early".

You're probably right, the environments i've worked in either our product was unique or in high demand to the point that a lot of the engineers probably took it for granted, or simple the fact that clients can be extremely demanding of time. I've also never worked in a place where any of the web team every spoke directly with clients or end users, the PMs always took care of that (talk about BS right there, fucking project managers) and going back and forth between the teams.

I basically just made sure key word checks passed on hosted sites and hardware wasn't blowing up (Replacing drives and batteries) and doing other stuff non related with customer FTP. But I can tell you I wouldn't let a customer call in at 3am wanting to wake up a web guy because a word was mispelled.
