I can find technique tips easily (there's a great youtube video). It's just finding the materials. Outside of Sephora, whenever I go looking for makeup, most of the time everything is combined (concealer + foundation etc.) I prefer to buy single type makeup just so thats its easier for me to apply and keep track of stuff.

I have kind of a weird situation. I'm doing a genderbent cosplay of an already feminine looking character, who already wears eyeshadow. Would you guys recommend adding some dark lipstick or just leaving the makeup as-is?

Pic for reference, the character is Judal from Magi. Any tips for how to make it clear that this is a genderbent cosplay and not just "I'm going to pretend he doesn't actually have a six pack" would be helpful. I was thinking belly ring?

I know nothing of the series besides stuff from tumblr, but I think a good maroon/burgundy lipstick would work (depending on your coloring of course). Other then a belly ring or an ornate belt add some cleavage? That series seems to like boobs so I think if you perch that scarf just so that boobs are visible from the right angles would work and be appropriate.

I think your make-up is a bit heavy on the eyes. Maybe try tinting your lashes and having a light coat of mascara instead of what you have now? Ditch most of the eyeliner and keep everything pared back and more neutral. Use individual falsies to build up the colour.

Contour your face a little more, you need a sharper look.

Give a little colour to your lips. Not much, just a little so you don't have that Asian crossplayer look.

Are you kidding me here? You should prepare for all and any make up you put on, and some products need more prep than others. Have you seriously never heard of exfoliating and moisturising your lips? It's no different from the rest of your face. Fucking wow, you obviously have no clue about make-up if you haven't heard of something like that. It's not like it's a trade secret or anything, it's literally Teen 17 magazine entry level beauty tip. It works like exfoliating your skin and is what gives you a smooth even finish, stops your lipstick from sinking into cracks/lines or caking on dead skin.

Difference of opinion aside, you should try it. It makes your lipstick look much better. You don't even have to spend money of a lip scrub product (although Lush does a brillion popcorn flavoured one), just rub some balm or vaseline on your lips and let it soak in for a minute then scrub your lips firmly with a dry toothbrush. Alternatively, mix sugar, honey and oil (olive, coconut, whatever) and rub it on your lips. It's pretty much an essential if you want to wear pale, nude or pastel shades.

You could easily get a good lipstick for the product of a Lime Crime product that actively MOISTURIZES your lips. And it won't dye your lips or look streaky with any attempt to build. And, best of all, you won't look like you're wearing some goofy, awful color of lipstick.

My recent wigless (for now) Moira O'Hara makeup trial from American Horror Story.
Can't decide if I even want to do this cosplay.
Or if I do, whether I should make a full eye prosthetic. Or if I should just do like the pic on the right and wear a blind-eye contact.
I do want to make an exit wound at some point if I do it so I'm not just some random slutty redheaded maid.

I agree with the one anon. I use Almay's Intense i-Color for almost every one of my cosplays (the one with three brown/tan shades for blue eyes)

I do occasional gore makeup for some halloween costumes. My suggestion, get some surgical tape (it's pretty sturdy shit) and tape your eyelid shut. Then use a wet eye-black on the eyelid. Add brighter red around the edges for the wound, a little bloody resin drip, and it will look like a pretty convincing hole unless you are within a few inches of it to see the contour of the eye.

May save you the trouble of making a full on prosthesis *and* even if you goop on the liquid makeup thick, it still won't give the hard-dry edge of a plastic mold.

You look awesome to cosplay Quistis. I'd suggest some fake eye lashes for the top and bottom lash and blush. You got the right idea keeping the makeup minimal, but you need to make it look less flat. Maybe add a light brown to the crease of your lids to make your eyes pop a bit more.

Both applications were done using Ben Nye Creams and over the counter make-up. I've discovered thought that my skin is extremely sensitive to Ben Nye Cream and I prefer Mehron's make-up lines.

I use Mehron's setting spray. You can't see any of the coloring in this picture, and I don't have any on my computer where you can. Everything is shades of purple (I hate straight black colored Drow, but that is just a personal thing). I just did this as a one time class thing, no intent of ever doing it again in the future.
