Part of crossing is hiding the parts that would give you away... While I'm not saying you should throw a sheet over yourself, covered characters allow you to use subtle padding to change your overall body structure to help crossplay. Props if you have the body for MtF crossplay naturally though, but that one is the hand fate deals you in your genes, so they're only so much you can do about it.

I don't actually plan on becoming a full time crossdresser. I've finally become comfortable with my looks after being a teased a lot throughout my grade and highschool years. It's just sometimes, I think it would be nice to be able to look "pretty" or "handsome". I don't think there's any answers out there for me to clear up my appearance, and I'd rather not take estrogen or something to get rid of my 5-o-clock shadow after an hour after blade shaving. Figuring out how to cross doesn't imply anything that's permanent, I look very different in and out of cosplay anyway. It's just makeup techniques, where to pad, body angles and stuff like that.

Also, if you have stubborn facial hair, you can try pulling it out. Lasts longer but hurts like a bitch (especially around the upper lip)

There's something about touhou that just encourages the fanbase to cos the characters out of love for the series. For FTM crossplay, I want to pad out my figure. Not anything as extreme as >>6694924, I just want to make my waist-hips ratio more balanced, but I'm not sure what to actually use for it. Some kind of foam, like shoulder pads? Do they make some kind of body suit that's good for that kind of thing?

I found it strange that I couldn't find any kind of tutorial or advice for it, whereas there seems to be quite a lot for MTF crossplay.

Unless you intend to show if off by baring your midriff, most male costumes cover that area quite easily... Most of my female friends don't even bother padding when crossing and some of them are quite curvy/slim.

If you intend to bare your midriff there are tutorials on how to contour for abs and stuff like that, but i don't know how you can blend the edges of padding away short of a bodysuit

My facial hair is just one of many features that would prevent me from cosplaying. If I took a year off cons and just focused on diet, exercise, and some kind of make-up courses, I might be able to pull something off, but honestly, it wouldn't be worth the return investment just to run around as an anime girl, when there are clearly so many girls who can do it better.

I've thought of a kigurumi, however... but I was quoted about $5k, which would be better utilized in an HEV Suit fund.

My build is right on the boarder of medium and small, so I opted for medium when purchasing it.
Next time I'm gonna go for small and see what that gets me.

Safety pins work on the skirt as well. But you have to experiment around with it so it doesn't mess with the pleats. I'm not sure if washing will make a big difference. Do you have any tailors around your area that can do a fast alteration? Just give them measurements and get them to shrink it a little.

That's actually pretty decent. Invest in a good concealer and you're good to go. I personally use the Tea Tree stick concealer from the body shop. It has very opaque coverage, but then again i have pretty bad acne. If your freckles are light you can probably get away with a semi-decent concealer from drugstores. (Revlon is a decent brand, their photoready series seems to serve well especially if you intend to be photographed under bright lighting conditions/powerful flashes. Not sure if that series has concealer though)

I'd recommend getting a small petticoat and maybe a waist crincher or a corset to create a more feminine body shape, especially since Shiki has that band around the waist already to emphasise that area a bit. Also to get some black thigh highs and sew them to sheer stockings (stockings make your legs look better and help the thigh highs stay up), might work better than those leggings you had.

The wig could use some styling too, definitely cut some bangs and smoothen the shorter side by cutting the hair vertically rather than horizontally to make it more layered.

Cross playing really isn't that hard for guys...as long as you're not like, huge and put some effort into it. The biggest thing is playing to your strengths...me for instance, I have an absurd jaw line, so the ones I pull off best are the ones I can hide it with. Same with shoulders...

Learning the basics of corseting, padding a bra and makeup can get you going started off pretty well. After that, just find a photographer who knows how to work angles and make you look good. Oh, and con photos? They always look bad so don't even worry about that shit...

It depends on the costume...generally you can push them back when posing, but if you have a decently stuffed chest, it'll make them look a little ridiculous.

Don't do it, saran wrap doesn't allow ventilation and plus when you sweat it might slip around and generally be uncomfortable. Also, the fact that there is no boning to sorta keep it in shape means you may get some unsightly bulges.

How long more til the con? Is there time to jump onto a Taobao courier to order a corset? They can be pretty cheap and decent enough to do the job of cinching your waist for just that bit of shape.
