I've been dead sick the past two weeks so I haven't touched anything, but I went out today and bought my Mikasa Ackerman shirt... just need to alter it when I stop snotting everywhere.

Feeling kind of fat and gross and down about how I'll look this convention, but hopefully its just the sick talking and I'll get more excited soon.

Hell yeah I'm ready. HELL YEAH. AM I READY.

The three roomies I was going with decided not to go, so I planned to go with another friend. His parents decided to kick him out so he has to spend all his finances on getting a new place. Talked to another gal and she's letting me pile into her group, and she's only charging me $40 for the whole weekend. Six girls, two beds, a fridge, a couple blocks from the con, going up on Day Zero for the first time. fuck yes.

They're all taking the bus, but I'm a pretty pretty princess so I'm driving up there myself. I can swing the gas money there and back all by myself, and I can go and leave whenever I want. More room for my bags, rest stops whenever I want, radio all to myself. Buses and I don't get along very well so this just flies.

My costumes are Boris (Usavich) and pirate!France (Hetalia). Boris' prop came in and it was a little smaller than I expected, but I gutted it and made it work, so he's got his rifle. Added a feathery boa to France's hat and I've gotten his make up down. Costumes are good to go.

At this rate, I'm going to actually have spending money this year. Got a dinner date planned with my buddy from out of state, plan to go to the cgl meet up this year, got the freedom to wander around by myself and do whatever I want.

All I have to do is wait. In the mean time, I've got a job opportunity opening up for me.

Just got started on the last of the cosplays I need. At the rate I'm going I have nothing to worry about. Still going to need a room to crash in for one night seeing as I'll probably get blasted in either my Homura or Touhou cosplay but I got plenty of friends who can cover for me. Living in Seattle has a lot of perks for SC. Only problem is that I don't think I can fit in Homestuck this year unless I pull it as a Sunday costume which I really don't want. Just glad I can wear it to ECCC instead.

Really excited for the artist alley and hanging with my friends on Touhou night.

This is the oldest western SAO cosplay photo I have saved; it's from September 2012. It's understandable that the guy bought his costume online and the girl had no time other than making the basics (very poorly).

Got my badge, hotel, and transport taken care of. One of my costumes is done, another is half done, another isn't even close but it's so simple I can whip it up in a day. Things are coming along nicely!
A meetup would be sweet. I have a group on Friday and they're not really into /cgl/ so I'd probably only be able to stop by if we're still all together, but I put my vote in for Friday at 8:30 as well if it counts for anything.

I'm ordering stuff for my Keine Kamishirasawa cosplay tonight, I've been searching through Arda wigs and I found a perfect multi-colored one that's out of stock ;w;. There's also this one, which is really similar, but I'm afraid it has too much teal. My other option is a Pure White Luthien wig for an extra $5. I'm not quite sure which way to go. Also, a friend suggested I get a petticoat for the cosplay, what does /cgl/ think?

I had it out with my friend yesterday, so there isn't anything that hasn't been said as far as I know. She tried to please too many people and committed to someone else as well, even though we've been planning together for months. I told her off, let her know she fucked me over, got her apologies, and told her to go ahead and stay with her other friends. For the record, there was supposed to be 2 extra people in my room, and the other girl came along with her, so she's included in all of this. Man, we even had cosplay plans together all weekend.

Anyway, best case scenario is my sister-in-law decides to go, and everything is magically made better and I purposefully ignore my other friends while there. That's 100% up in the air, but at least a little light on the horizon.

it can be incredibly hard to find a hotel within decent walking distance, though i know the green tortoise hostel might still be taking reservations for rooms that weekend. they have private rooms, and are across the street from pike's place on the same avenue as the convention center.

they also serve dinner for free some nights, and have a kitchen you can use in their common area. the rooms are basic but if you're not going to be doing much besides sleeping in them they're nice enough. they have public showers/bathrooms that are kept quite clean.

overall if you're strapped for options they're probably the best route to go instead of a full hotel room that's a further distance away.

You may have to go through there at some point, just consider going a back way if the circle has gotten big again. (The entire park area out there is a giant circle with a branch that goes out to the fountain area.) They're prone to glomping if they mistake you for being part of the circle

The AP booth was Harajuku Hearts where they had the designer for the lolita brand Chantilly come from Japan and do a fashion show. From what I heard, they were so happy with the turnout that SakuraCon had planned on doing more lolita fashion things in the future. So last year there was two guests. This year we get one punk brand that also has some lace monsters. Great. Word has been floating around that AP was going to come again (but actually AP, not just a HH pop-up shop), but SakuraCon ignored their request. So, SakuraCon passed up the biggest lolita brand for some minor punk brand. Yeah, I'm mad.

From experience- if you use a credit card, there isn't a problem. But if you use a debit card, the actual money is sitting "locked" in your account until they cancel the charge...

I think almost all hotels do this, but what I fucking hate is how sneaky they are about it. I even called in advance one time and asked specifically if there was a damage deposit or fee, and they said no. Then I get there and they want a $50 per night "incidental" fee. hey guys. I'll be attending for the 4th time now. I'm going to try to do a Hotline Miami cosplay since it's easy and I'm rather partial to casual cosplays.

The thing I'm worried about, however, is getting through peacebonding. I've never carried a prop while cosplaying before, and I'm wondering if a baseball bat or a golf club would actually pass or they would be deemed too dangerous to have around. I was thinking of buying a realistic baseball bat prop, but those things are expensive...

And also, my sister is coming along this year, and she can't figure out what to cosplay as. She wants something anime-related that's "cheap and slutty" (she works as a bikini barista, so this request doesn't surprise me). I suggested Panty from PSG, but she still can't make up her mind. You guys got any ideas?

Wound up checking with the Sheraton concerning the incident fee thing. They do 20% of the price of the room.
Asked my mom to help out by tossing ~150 into my bank account- she gets it back after con. Problem solved. No more laying in bed wondering if I'm going to have a nightmare of a time trying to get into my room.
