I think I advanced pretty well from 'closet cosplays' at best (if you can even call it that) to portraying a character that needed some real cosplaying skill.

Don't laugh at me too hard. I still have a long way to go.

I need to stop. I'm getting all old and stuff. Legally drinking and applying to grad schools what happened to my youth.

I like to think I've gotten better at sewing, considering the wreck I made in 2007 vs Conchita. I don't know about anything else though.

You have the exact same face in all of your pictures, and it's a little distracting, not to mention unflattering. Try practicing in the mirror, which will also help you figure out an angle that looks better.

I've been cosplaying just as long, but i dont mind my sewing skills taking a while to happen. I just keep at it. I'm better with wigs and thoroughly enjoy styling and cutting them. I'm also getting much better with make up.

I don't have older pics, I started in 2008 and I was terrible. But still, I learned lots of stuff, can style wigs and do make-up properly now. I only need to lose some more weight.

I've definitely feel I've improved, especially in the makeup department. Though a more accurate looking image would be a picture of my zippers and seam work over the years.

I'm only posting my main cosplays for each year, but I do think I have gotten better. But like >>6691283 said, the improvement is more about internal structure.

Need to work again, or leather, I'm starting to miss both.

I guess I haven't improved that much, except that I stopped using cheap party store wigs, started wearing more makeup than basic foundation and learned to use photoshop. I should probably try making more complex costumes someday...

I decided to show as much as possible. I think there are Halloween costumes and Pirate costumes missing, but I started getting better about taking pics of those a few years ago.
I like how anti-wig and cheap-crap wig I was early on.

Thank you! Yeah actually, Lan Fan was made at the way way beginning of 2012 because I just *had* to wear it to Ohayocon. And I probably should have put Jupiter in 2011 but I didn't finish finish remaking her until summer of 2012 I'm hoping to remake Lan Fan's automail some time in the future with better materials. I'm just waiting for my fiance to want to cosplay GreedLing again.

I can only speak for myself but I only put in the costumes I made. I started cosplaying summer of 2009 but I bought everything and commissioned. I didn't start learning to sew until summer of 2010 when I had had it with several shitty commissioners. Lost a good chunk of money on two and never saw the completed results. My picture turned out a little longer than expected.2010 was my best year, then I went and got really fat and my costumes weren't very good. Bad wigs, bad fabric choices, fat, etc. I'd like to think I got better in 2012, still have a long way to go.

Thanks! It's Karin from Street Fighter Alpha 3. It really shows how big a difference actually styling a wig and finding a good photographer makes.

In my earlier days I also cosplayed Peter Pan. But apparently I was later so embarrassed by it that I untagged myself from every possible photo so I can't find it.

Um. I think 2012 sparked something.

This isn't all my cosplays (cough), but ones I either made most of if not completely, spent a significant amount of time on, and consider some kind of stepping stone! 2012 was a pretty bad year, I stretched myself too thin and ended up with only a couple big cosplays I liked and a bunch I was really meh with, hope I've learned my lesson for this year.
