Backstory- Tavrillex happened when the cosplayer had gotten into the entirety of their Vriska cosplay and then went to put the horns on and they broke. Changed their wig, horns, and glasses for random ones around the apartment and suddenly discovered that they looked like troll!Skrillex?? And so decided to roll with it.

Sailor Dirk happened when I said 'You'd look great with pigtails' and then a nearby cosplayer loaned them their clip-ons and wham bam thank you ma'am we have the prettiest Dirkette.

Well, I don't know. While I certainly don't dislike her, she had a bad habit of fishing for sympathy.
She posts rude anons every time she gets them instead of ignoring them so her followers jump on the 'nooo ur gr8' wagon and threw a bit of a fit the last time she got discussed here instead of just realizing that it's so much easier to just shake it off.

Sameface in most pictures, basically cosplays as nothing but Roxy yet is purportedly a ~*gr8 cosplayur*~. At cons she's incredibly standoffish and talks to no one but her clique of 4 other people. A lot of the other "notable" people (and regular ones) in SFLstuck dislike her/her group, and by now they know it. They almost
completely stopped going to cons and meetups.

Also, I've been told by some of the other popular people at meetups that she has a queen bee mentality.

I'll add to this. I also hate how she pretends to be younger than she is. She's around 20 or older, and I know that for a fact. I've seen her old twitter a while ago with birthday tweets saying she turned 16 or 17 in 2009 or something. So I confronted her about it, and she lies to me and deletes her twitter. She's very rude to people she is close friends with and not trying to get in good with. I won't name names, but out of her inner circle there is one girl she is a lot ruder to than the other four. She just puts her wants way before the needs of others and she has a very prominent victim complex. She's talked to me a few times, but I try to avoid her all together because of that sort of bs. Unrelated: I rather like this Meulin's shoes. I think they're a good choice for the character, and add a just enough detail that they're interesting, but not so much that it's over-the-top, not to mention that they're pretty cute on their own. I also like that the buckles are hearts and that that ties them in with Meulin's aspect.

I think it would depend on how that person pulls it off. Imagine a ______ cosplayer with a perfect t-shirt that is your desired colour + size of a transfer / symbol, but that person is wearing a shirt two sizes small. that's ugly as fuck.

I'm overweight myself and I wouldn't really go for cosplaying feferi because I wouldn't be able to pull her off very well. She's like, the equivalent of a olympic swimmer or something. Of course I wouldn't go as far as to say that they suck at everything, but I would definitely think in my head 'her legs are too big for that.'

Also, I don't really know who CC is, so I don't know her size. sorry. Just wanted to say that I know where this person's coming from, the same as I know where you are coming from. Angelus Leather paints. Works on anything but canvas or suede. Take the finish off your shoes with nail poolish remover, use the paint, then finish with Angelus sealer. Best paint ever

Standard God tiers are pretty straightforward. I think they'd work well for a beginner. They're mostly variations on standard pajamas, which are first sewing projects for many. Here's a tutorial: http://www.deviantart.com/art/TUTORIAL-seer-robe-296560649

Her hood might be weird for someone new to sewing, but I did the similar hood for Vriska and didn't have much trouble with it. I made a shitty mspaint diagram of it, I'll see if i can dig it up and post it.

ALSO: Don't use satin, cotton broadcloth, or anything with tons of stretch for your fabric. Use something that won't wrinkle. A little stretch would be okay for a GT (like a cotton jersey) but it's probably best if you avoid it for now as a beginner.

Thanks! Do they come in a fairly wide variety of colors? I ask because the first pair of shoes I need to be a very specific shade of blue, and the second need to be an equally specific shade of purple. A lot of the shoe paints I've seen have only come in shades of brown and grey, with a few dark blues or purples thrown in.

There was a big discussion about him a few threads back, I wasn't the OP but the tl;dr is that he talks shit about everyone right to their faces, even those he's close with and keeps in his inner circle. He's essentially a major elitist, and while no one can say he doesn't have the craftmanship to warrant confidence and pride, there's a difference between that and unbridled ego.

If you want to go the paint way, paint your hands/fingers/etc. and then seal with fuck out of them with hairspray. Don't spray too close or it'll run if it's water-based paint. Also, do layers of the hairspray. After the layers dry, then seal it with actual sealer.

Yes. Your arms too if they are exposed; you don't wanna rub paint onto yours or anyone elses' cosplay by accident. Never put hairspray on your face. I wouldn't put sealer there either. Follow all the above users and like them because they're chill people and offer helpful pointers and advice to novice. All but VA and Kurtuna are great at running things without being an asshat about it. Little to no drama on all fronts, but none of them put up with shit. Like all their costumes, obviously VA and Vantasticmess have a lot more and polished costumes. I like how all of them portray the characters they cosplay. All of them are fairly attractive which is a lot in my book. I like Rel too because of quality cosplays, panels, and fucking around on the boards here without being a bitch.

BNFs I dislike
Aside from the obvious: MF and ones that have been mentioned over and over on here.

Buttpilgrim can rub me the wrong way and I stopped following him because of it. And I don't think he contributes enough to really be a BNF? Not a bad guys but never really impressed with anything he does.

I think Cancerously gets too many ass pats for her cosplay when they're pretty mediocre and is a little too self important and high maintenance.

I'm sorry, but that was the biggest vendetta-chan I have ever seen. It was only two anons who said that (which could have been the same person), who wouldn't even come out and say who they were. If you're going to make that serious of accusations against someone, at least have evidence instead of just smearing their reputation. I'm not super close with Scott, but I know enough to say the crap that was and is getting said about him is bullshit. He's incredibly talented, and that makes him intimidating to people, including myself. But once you get past that, he's a pretty awesome guy who just wants to make cosplay and hang out with people. The fact that people get so intimidated by him seems to be kind of upsetting to him, judging by all the Tumblr asks he's received about it. Ok HSG, I have a question
I have limited funds and am in a college setting, where wigs don't really thrive, but I have a couple of Homestuck cosplays planned that I would like to do eventually.
Do you think I can get away with the same wig for Aradia, Feferi and Jade? I will obviously switch the bangs up when I change costumes, but would the same, many layered, long black wig with a lot of body.
I'm thinking about getting something from Arda that has a lot of hair to work with and then styling it for Aradia, which I will probably do first, then smooth it down for Jade and part the hair properly, then pump the volume back up for Feferi and pull the bangs back.
Does this sound like a decent plan?

Would this paint work on vinyl too? I'm the test subject Roxy, and I'm looking to improve my long fall boots for sakuracon. They were spray painted but by the end of eccc all the non-fiberglass bits had flaked off and been replaced with duct tape and sharpie, so they looked like shit.

HSG, what are your favorite and most effective wig-detangling methods? I have a Jade wig that is wholly ratted, with the ends rough and scratchy to the touch too, and I need to detangle it without pulling out all the fibers. honestly, crocheted scarves can look just as nice as knit scarves if the person bother to count stitches and keep the tightness of the stitch even throughout. Also counting. Fucking count. Included pic of what happens when you don't count- it's uneven along the edges etc. Using two different thickness of yarn is also a huge "oh god don't". Well it doesn't sound like you soaked them in new solution before putting them in your eyes, which is the problem.
Since they're stored in that solution for however long it takes from production to sales from merchants, you 'clean' them with fresh solution so they don't irritate your eyes.

Most "fantasy" outfits generally aren't historically correct, be they European, Asian, or whatever. That's generally the way fantasy goes.
