show me your favorite lolita skirts, /cgl/! can be co-ordinated or stock photos, brand, off-brand, indie, taobao, whatever! i'm trying to incorporate more skirts into my wardrobe but i'm only familiar with a few, so i was wondering what everyone else was fond of.

My wardrobe consists mostly of skirts because I'm horribly cheap and won't pay almost 50% more for a bit more fabric on the top ;P
I find skirts more versatile as you can dress them up or down. For example, you could wear cutsews for a casual coord or a snazzy blouse for when you feel dressy. My favourite tip is to experiment with different kinds of bustiers/corsets to create a more polished look.

>> No.6664954

Bless this thread!

I can only wear skirts because I have a really long torso and a large bust so dresses look weird on me, but it seems like people hardly wear skirts, or if they are they're not posting pictures!

>> No.6665111

>>6664482
I see it differently - it's a fuckton more construction to make a basic bodice than it is to make a basic skirt. I don't know if you sew at all, but after putting together 'a bit more fabric on the top' I'm quite happy to pay the difference for a dress.

Yeah of course I understand that princess seams and everything take a lot of work, and I'm not trying to discount that. It's just a matter of perception for me, especially if it's just a simple bodice, and I feel like I can replace it with something similar.

You know, for a long time I've had this theory, and I think this thread shows it fairly well... that skirt coords in the west are just.. different, from the way Japanese lolitas coord them- especially visible in classic coords.

My theory for this being that when we do blouse and skirt coords, we end up subconsciously channeling more of a retro 40's-50's look.

>> No.6666437

>>6666404
I agree with this. I think that lolita needs to have a more strict sense of what defines it because throwing a petti under a dress that looks correct doesn't always make it lolita. Like, a skirt's a skirt because it isn't pants. If the line between Lolita and just a poofy skirted outfit is too blurred it doesn't make it Lolita.

Does anyone have any more gothic ones? I seem to have picked up a bunch of skirts lately and it'd be nice to see some ideas for a more elegant/mature approach.
Also have some selfpost, concrit would be very much appreciated. Sorry for the crappy picture quality, haven't had a chance to get a proper photoshoot or anything done recently so I just grabbed a meet picture.

Can I ask what the top is? Is it a vest over a lace top, or a lace sleeved sweater? It's a bit hard to tell with the low contrast.

I'm not digging all the different textures put together. You have the lace pattern of the cutsew, the lace gloves, the floral print, and then the printed tights, and it looks just the tiniest bit messy.
