This is a perfect example of why beethy's work has gone down hill. Lets compare the Yuna shot and the Litchi shot. While Yuna is typical beethy soft edit and slightly desaturated, it still works, the pose is feminine, location and colour works well, the hair is slightly blown out but not over drastically. Its overall a nice image, it feels nostalgic and warm to look at, I almost want to break out ffx again. Litchi on the other hand, while done in the same style it's completely the opposite of everything that is good about how beethy edits. It's blown out like fucking crazy, skin and the wig. The wig looks like a shiny mess and that could have been avoided if he really spent 5 hours in shop. The skin editing is done badly as you can see where the colours bleed in the chest area. The colour is too starchy and ruins what may have been a good image. A lot of things could have been changed and this MIGHT have been a nice photo. The angle also takes away any shape this girl has, and makes her look more bulky then she probably is. If litchi was editted to be more sharp maybe like the kosmos photo it could have even worked better. Also the location is terribly shit for blazblue.

There is a lot of factors to take in though. Beethy has a lot of success on DA from being a long time user who just took a fuck load of photos and eventually got decent at it. Take into account the amount of photos uploaded by each of them and how long they've been active on DA.

Each of them have their pro's and cons.

Kris usually gets lighting spot on, will happily give cosplayers high res of the whole shoot, has good gear, will fix wigs, but he lacks creative inspiration and time.
His photos straight off the camera are usually quite good.

Beethy has shit gear, generally uses no lighting set up, no sense of giving a cosplayer direction and his hotos straight off the camera are usually terrible. However, he's ace in photoshop and completely compensates for what he lacks in gear and lighting skill that way. How ever, he's slow as fuck to give back photos, wont give the cosplayer the originals and edits them himself. He has a lot of time but doesn't shoot nearly enough as he should and is slowly losing his skills.

Fiathriel is generically good all round. Is great at direction, has quite good gear, knows whats she's doing and is easy to work with. She is creatively and generally knows how to bring out peoples best angle/features. She sends though originals to look at and then will edit the ones you like, though sometimes she messes up in photoshop.


All of them have their pro's and cons, it depends what you're after in a photographer. Views aren't everything, but they do account for something.

It's hard to make a photograph of something framed by an overcast sky not look terrible. (If you find it easy, I'd love to hear your tips. For real.) You have to basically cut out all the objects in the foreground and perform two separate jobs, one for the sky and one for everything else.

Actually, only one of those photos by Krisez were edited at all. The bottom left was edited by Aly. The top left was just four images cut together (by Krisez, as far as I'm aware) with no other editing. The top right has absolutely no editing except for the watermark, as does the bottom right. Krisez may not be the best at editing, but he doesn't need to be. His photos look better than Beethy's even when they're straight off the camera.
