Alright seagulls, im making a prop and hot glue has failed me. It just doesnt have the strength to hold this thing together, anyone else know of a stronger fast setting adhesive?

Gorilla glue? Then again, depends what materials you're glueing together, etc.

Need to know what it is your making first, what it is made out of, and what kind of pressure or tension it will be under.

>fast-setting

Exactly how fast? Most of the strong glues I like take a day or so to dry completely.

You shouldn't use hot glue for anything. Most strong glues are going to need a 24 hour set time, although they do start bonding pretty quickly. Normally I would recommend epoxy or e6000 but there could be a better glue for the job depending on what materials you're using.

What is it that you're using? I'd say if it's just to holding something on, use some zap-a-gap and spritz it with some accelerate.

It's made out of styrene sheet plastic im bending it into a circle on a foam circle. Ive got gorilla glue, rhino glue, and super glue here. Its just that most of the those, the rhino glue especially take way to long to cure. This thing needs to be held down with fingers long enough for the glue to set.
Hot glue is normally my go-to but it just wont hold it this time.

Before you glue it, take a heat gun, or even a hair dryer and heat the styrene up to the point where it sags just a little, then wrap it around something that has about the same diameter that you need it to end up as. Based on your pic, I would suggest a rolling pin. Hold it down with elastic bands and wait for it to cool. It won't take long. Do that for both parts.
Now when you glue the two parts together, it won't be trying to pull itself away as it will stay curved.

Plastic model glue.

it will partially dissolve the plastic and weld it together

>> No.6657721

both of those are awesome ideas, think ill try the hair dryer first (the one we have is really hot) then go for the model glue. Thanks!

So the blow dryer didnt work on it, but i've got some contact cement and that stuff sets fast and has worked wonders in the past. Ill update

...just now realizing how many glues i've collected.

said screw the styrene and used craft foam for the outside. took me 30 seconds and looks great.
