A mask can help you look more feminine, and also if you don't want to be recognized. Just make sure to learn makeup, tweeze your eyebrows, get a wig, a good bra and inserts, and maybe long sleeved shirts to hide veiny/manly arms. It's all about details, hiding the manly things and emphasizing/faking the feminine things. Never think that you can skip one little thing, because those little things together are what's going to add up and make you look like a girl in the end.

Also, you might want to go for the "onee-type" characters or bigger sister/older girl characters. Maybe a glasses-girl? All kinds of more mature looking girls, really.

Thanks. I suppose this is a good start. I should most likely start by wearing girl clothes at home just to find out what makes me look feminine and start some trials with simple make-up. A good coverage is needed so a long sleeved shirt with ZR should bring decent results on that part. I'm kind of a perfectionist and if I really get into this stuff I might find the resources to invest on this project since I don't want to go for a cheap or half-assed look. It would be so easy to go to a foreign con where no one would notice me. I live in such a small country that people would brand me as a faggot for eternity if I was found wearing skirts and other girl clothes in public.

Anyway, the best tip i can give you is that there is no magic trick, it's all hard work and every little bit you do helps.

i suggest google for most things, one of the things i do recommend is getting a bit of high-quality make-up, especially concealer or foundation is important for beardshadow, also contouring is very important, you can also google that and what types of make-up you need for it.

Hi Anon, realtalk here.

If you want to go as a girl do it, but just look for characters that fit your build like the one attached here. It would help if you posted a few pictures of what you looked like so we could give better answers. Of course you could post in the suggestions thread too. The real key is great padding and great makeup. As a few anon's (or one twice?) have posted, Ru Pauls Drag race is actually a good show to get ideas about how to transform yourself into a fabulous looking female. Just remember to tone the makeup down for cosplay.

OP it's okay to be paranoid about being perceived as gay. Have you ever read the manga Hourou Musukou? The main character is trans but it does a good job of pointing out the double standard inherent to crossdressing. The sad fact is that it's okay for girls to be masculine but not for boys to be feminine, as if being feminine is somehow wrong. It sucks, but good for you trying to do what you love--and wanting to do it right.

Invest in good makeup--you'll need to counteract five o'clock shadow unless you're as smooth as a baby's bottom. Learn how to contour so you can hide the more masculine parts of yourself. You'll probably need a high collar as an adam's apple is usually a dead giveaway.

Shave your legs (or wax), but you should probably wear dancer's tights anyway. Most girls should, let alone crossdressers. They hold everything in and make your legs look nicer.

Other than that, pad the fuck out of yourself. If you have an girl friends that you're comfortable talking to about this, ask to watch them walk and talk and stuff. Copy their mannerisms. If you have no friends or don't want to talk to anybody, go on public transportation and watch how girls hold themselves. But don't act like a creeper.

You don't HAVE to restrict yourself to older characters, but it will make passing easier for you. One character you might try is Kuranosuke from Kuragehime--he's a crossdresser in the show, so a more androgynous look is appropriate for him. And it would be awesome to actually see a male cosplaying him.

Thanks for all the stuff for everyone who's contributed and I assure you guys I'm no ruseman. Just a regular dude who wants a new hobby. Another problem I have is getting clothes. If I walk into a shop and buy women's clothes they'll call the guerds to throw the pervert out so at least for starters I was thinking of buying online since it's cheap at least where I live. How should I go about sizes on skirts for instance? I wear jeans with a 32 waist if that helps. I'll try take pics of myself once I get my bad quality cam rolling. At least it should help some.
