Take a thin section from the sides from the part to about an inch about the ear, make a choppy little cut (I don't know the series or the character, but the cut looks pretty blunt to me), cover hand in hairspray, make a claw and grab it and pull your arm back few times like you trying to rip the hair out of the wig. Gently do this a few times, and this should stick out a bit.

Play the Corpse Party games. Start your adventure with Corpse Party Rebuilt, which is a remake of the very first CP game.
If you like it, move onto the fangame, Corpse Party If. After that, buy a copy of CP: BloodCovered, Repeated Fear for the PSP which is a longer remake of the original one, with a ton of new elements and characters. After that, take a look at the fangame CP: Zero.
And finally, move onto CP: Book of Shadows. That one isn't RPG Maker inspired, but is rather a VN. If the other games interest you, then you'll probably be up for it though.

I also recommend Misao. And I have heard good thngs about Mad Father - It's not an RPG-Maker game, but the gamestyle is similar.

I really enjoyed Corpse Party, long but a great storyline, kept me on my toes. Ib was okay, the endings didn't make me feel satisfied with the game, but that's my opinion. Mad Father is great, as well as Misao. I find Misao to be replayable because it goes pretty fast. Ao Oni is good, but kind of overhyped. Yume Nikki and .flow are both great and very creepy if you think too deeply into it. But that's just an anon's opinion!

Honestly, I think Ib's endings being sort of underplayed is the reason why it's my favorite of all these sorts of games. All the meat of the game is within the actual game itself and it doesn't feel a need to throw a curveball at the end like Mad Father did. I think that's a sign that the story and characters could stand on their own.

Make the cut, light hold hairspray. Tease near the roots and use a freeze spray to keep in place. Comb freeze spray through the rest of the hair, and pull out with a flat iron. Hairspray again for good measure after you've separated it. Done. If I have to mention using a heat protecting spray beforehand, then you should probably go to another board.

She was scared shitless of us at first, but we took our masks off and sat on the floor with her to play with her Big Daddy doll, then we slid our masks back on and she was fine. OFF isn't really scary, so much as a little bit startling the first time you do a /certian something/ in the game but.. considering how frequently you go through the same 'startling' part of the game, it kinda turns it. The game in itself is incredible, in my own opinion, and it's rather 'deep', like Yume Nikki, but not really scary at all. Pretty fun, though. Fandom's very sweet.

I like horror games but I'm not exactly sure I would call myself a horror fan. I do like the games mentioned in this thread but anything that relies too much on jumpscares like Resident Evil kind of turns me off.
Elsewhere, I did like The Ring before they tried adding science bullshit. I also like Junji Ito's work.
I guess I'm into psychological horror or at least something that's not "BLOOD GUTS MURDER". I mean, I do find gore to be unsettling but ultimately, I don't find that scary.

As for cosplay, I want to cosplay Garry from Ib so I have an excuse to learn to play the guitar themes but I don't think I'm fabulous enough. I should try something simpler like Hiroshi from Ao Oni.
