Just wanted to thank CGL for actually helping me with my costume, I think it turned out well for my first armor. I started a thread here about a month ago about how to get the pattern on her clothing and people were really helpful and sent tutorials and great suggestions. Anyway, thanks CGL!

Well It needs a lot of improvement, shaping and redoing, but here you go. And in before landwhale etc.

Oh haha you were the calhoun with the laughably misshapen breastplate.

>> No.6642674

>>6642638
It fit my breasts fine, which are not misshapen, just large for my body. If it makes you feel better about yourself to laugh at it, go ahead. I was happy with my costume even though I just said I still have improvements that need to be made on it to make it perfect.

I don't have anything to say about the costume, but I think you're pretty.

I think the camera angle is embiggening the titties cause we're losing a whole midsection of your body.

The paint job look spretty good though! What was the technique?

>> No.6642726

>>6642701
Well it was mostly exterior spray-paint, and acrylic hand painting, but the weathering was due to a topcoat that you can get from hobby stores. I can't remember the name of it, it had japanese on it. Something about it made it wear out the black layer to the silver one under it, so I thought it looked pretty cool.

No it's that the boobs are flat discs with no definition and are far too large. Whywould someone attempt this as a first armor project.

>>6642728
Dude they fit my breasts perfectly I assure you, don't worry so much about it.

Do you have any other shots?
Not being rude or anything, just asking because given the angle Anon does have a point.
The do look a little flat and for a first armor, that's not bad. Some small errors happen.
That aside, looks pretty awesome.

Lol letting me know they "fit perfectly" doesn't make them not look shitty.

>> No.6642747

They're saying they look like you stuck plates to your tits instead of fitting a breastplate around them.

Yo kiddo. Can you just give some legitimate concrit so that it can be fixed rather than scoffing that someone would make it their first project.
I've never done armor and my first two projects are a BGS hardsuit and Nightingale armor. Planning, research, and practice make good armor.

OP I commend you on a nice job for your first try. Practice makes perfect. Try out some other materials. I've heard and seen good results from bonding styrene to a craft foam form.

No, I totally get it. Here it is from another angle, this was after that pic was taken and I did do some more shaping. Yes I know I'm not skinny and perfect like she is but I still had fun and plan on redoing a lot

Looks great IMO. Breast plates would be a bit difficult to work to get them to look EXACTLY like the movie ones.
If you made a V2 and brought the lower half of them up a little and had them push out more (?) they'd look a little more accurate.

Overall REALLY nice for a first armor IMO.

>>6642771
I agree, I'm probably going to redo them completely. I saw a tutorial about doing breastplates and it's a little involved with making a cast and then heating the eva and stretching them over, but I didn't have time to do that so I had to figure out a pattern for it on the fly.I only made this in a month and over half of it was sanding it to make it the right thickness for certain pieces and figuring out the pattern.

I mean for your first try I think it's pretty impressive, but the chest armor does look a bit...off. They're a tad bit too big when you compare it to the reference pictures. Everything else seems to be in order though.

along with redoing the breast plates I would definitely wear a corset underneath next time. It seems like you're a little chubby so a strong corset could give you the appearance of that unrealistically curvy body type the character has that most of us would really just need padding for!

You are both right. It does and I will redo them to make them more fitted. I am wearing a corset but It wasn't small enough to cinch it in as tight as I needed it and also the ab portion wasn't shaped in where it needed to go in, it was too low.

Anyway I'm definitely redoing with better shaping and smaller corset. All your suggestions are actually really helpful. I might even try my hand at making the corset myself, which is something I've also never done before.

The good thing about doing it again is that now I have a better idea on handling the material that I'm working with and how it looks to other people. I will also have longer than a month to make it. Once I redo it I'll slap it back up for critique.

Honey, you're delusional.

The breastplate seriously needs to be smaller. The way it's cut makes it look like you took two circles of cardboard, painted them, and glued them onto your chest.

We're not insulting you. We're trying to help you.

She seems to be taking our advices fine to me...? She says she'll redo them too. I don't see a problem.

This post is the very pinnacle of passive aggressive behavior.
"Honey", why don't you just tell her you think her costume is bad and be done with it? Why be so bitchy?

>> No.6645477

>>6642833

Stop being a jerk. If you think her costume is bad then just come out and say it and leave. Insulting her isn't going to help her in any way and considering this is her first costume/armour costume she's done a pretty fucking fine job.

Honey, acting like a bitch AND not reading the thread before doing so?

Thank you for giving me a laugh. What a cunt.

>> No.6645742

It's pretty purposeless too since when she firt posted her picture she already said it needed reshaping and redoing...
