Sort of unrelated but why don't the girls who are into ageplay just come out and say it already? Is it "ageplay" if you like pretending to be a child, but don't do it sexually? This is the biggest thing I don't understand: why is it considered so wrong to enjoy pretending to be a child sometimes? Or, rather, why do people ASSUME that there MUST be sexual connotations?

I get why people would be squicked by sexual connotations involving children, and therefore be weirded out by fetish ageplay. But maybe a person likes, you know, having a tea party, or dressing up dolls, or dressing like they did as a little girl, and they have no sexually motivated reasons for it. They just want to re-live an enjoyable part of their childhood. Which is what lolita seems to be for a lot of people.

Dresses don't really seem to be common in ageplay outside of sissy because there's like a 10:1 male-to-female ratio of ageplayers. Speaking as a male. I think what surprises me most about lolita comms is the outright denial of anything sexual about lolita as a whole. I mean, I get that you don't necessarily want your fashion associated with that kind of thing, but it's pretty obvious lolita is a huge, huge thing amongst ageplayers and that many lolitas as part of actual communities are also ageplayers.

It seems self-defeating to constantly assert the fashion has nothing to do with ageplay when it clearly does in a lot of cases. Not ostensibly, but it's implied all over the damn place almost to the point of being an open secret.

I like lolita mainly because I like the fact that girls are prepared to spend a lot of money on cute dresses to look cute for us. I appreciate that they do that. But I also think repressing what you want and telling yourself you hate it can be counterproductive.
