This costume really is not that great, honestly...? Like other anon said, it's done from a by-the-book pattern, which is okay, but the fabric choices and trim are really cheap-looking. In group shots like >>6634709 it stands out from all the others a lot, and not necessarily in a good way.

I do not enjoy homestuck cosplayers. They add nothing to the con and everything about them both in costume appearance and in personality is annoying. When I see them walking around I just want to roll my eyes and hope that they leave.

Part of what I think makes it annoying is that the homestuck shit isn't really a fandom for the most part. It's a social trend. A bunch of young 15 year olds who saw their friends' facebook photos of them painting themselves grey and putting on silly horns or whatever and decided this is the cool thing to do to dress up and have fun. So they put on their homestuck-themed retard garb and march into conventions by the droves, invading everyone's space and acting as immature as they look.

They are not a reflection of anime culture or fandom. Homestuck is not a part of a con, it's a con invasion.

Not speaking for Rachel in one way or another, but there's actually a large number of reasons why right NOW a con for Homestuck wouldn't be feasible:

1) Since it's a convention directly linked to one individual (instead of a general anime con, gaming con, etc.) the main organizing parties would either have to be the company itself (whatpumpkin) or at least would have to have a heavy hand in it.

2) A major part of conventions, the Artist Alley and Dealer's Room, would be near impossible to do given the claimed copyright on anything MSPA related.

3) Since Andrew would have to have hand in helping run the con since it's his comic and he is part of whatpumpkin, just imagine: Put that man into a swarm of people of which at least half think he's god. That man wouldn't make it out of the convention alive.

4) If whatpumpkin (which is like I think made of 4-5 people tops?) aren't being the head staff all by themselves of the convention, they'd have to find people they trust enough and with enough con experience to run different sections. Security, Volunteer staff, etc.

5) Volunteer "hiring" would be a fucking nightmare of people only doing it because "I wanna see maybe Andrew Hussie".

6) Special Guests. Congrats you've got Andrew Hussie, maybe a couple of the musicians. Who the fuck else is there really for special guests. Its not like an anime con where you could get one person from this thing and this person from that, the only special guests available would be Andrew, anyone from the music team, and anyone from the art team, MAYBE NAS. I don't think there's a big enough pool to choose from for special guests, personally.

7) Half the con would have to be freaking shot down when there's a photoshoot going on. Almost every Homestuck fan I've ever met at a convention, cosplaying or not, attends the cosplay photoshoots.

Once the Homestuck craze dies down a little bit MAYBE it can happen. But for now no.

Okay so was it just me or were all the Homestuck BNFs at Katsucon really M.I.A. in terms of Homestuck meets and cosplay? I don't see why not? Unlike normal clothing, you probably only wear a cosplay only a couple times a year. Along with obvious daily basic hygiene, I usually bring a small steamer I got at Target and some oxiclean with me. I also hang up all my shit inside out so it has a chance to air out.
Honestly I've never had a problem with a cosplay smelling bad after two days of wear. 9 times out of 10, if my cosplay smelled, it was because some one else gave me a hug and left their stench lingering on my clothing.

I like seerofsarcasm's Kanaya because I imagine Kanaya with a sort of large, motherly face and lately she's got that pretty down. Not sure is she gained weight since Otakon or if her original photos were shopped or just at a really high angle but the in the videos of her and IRL she's larger than she looks but I think it really works?
I think mohawkdandy makes for great Taurus trolls but his characterization bugs me. All he said in the panel at katsu was "um" and even though it worked and was funny for the situation there's a lot to Tavros besides that.
I haven't really found that many Terezi's that fit my "headcanon" except cancerously, because although she physically doesn't fit it, she fits it perfectly in character and voice. I can't stand when people sound like a 50 year old smoker in panels and I see a lot for that.
Damaramegido for Aires like the rest of the damn world. Never seen her characterization but she looks fab.
Silencedrowns for Gamzee and Kurloz, terminallyxsadistic for sober Gamzee if for nothing else but characterization. I saw the AUSA panels she was in and she was fantastic to the point that I actually got a little scared. As scared as I can get in a cosplay panel, anyway.
friendleaderp or whatever their new URL is for Karkat because of her jawline for real. I have such an attraction to their face it's so perfectly sculpted, especially for crossplay. Their voice is good too, not too screamy but still bold.

My phone is flipping out and not letting me directly reply, but that IMT cosplay group looks terrible. I'm not familiar with anything else they've done before this, but it floors me to know this isn't a first cosplay ever thing.

Going from memory (since phone is too fucked to let me see the photo now), it's astoundingly bad. John's wig is unstyled, Rose's bangs are too blunt (in the way that screams they just cut straight across), Jade's wig is not even remotely canon, and Dave can't be assed to get all his dark hair under the wig.

Jade's glasses are ridiculously far from canon as well. And they're wearing bathrobes. Kid cosplay is so simple, you put on a shirt and pants. These guys can fuck off, what a laughable 'group.'
