I guess the point is that it's (1) different, and (2) I also find it strangely appealing. It isn't something I'd personally wear, but I consider something that is "ita" to be something that makes you cringe. I can't put my finger on why, but I actually find this interesting and quite appealing.

Thank you for the advice! I have replaced the shoes with something much more heely- this was taken at Halloween. I'm not wearing a turtle neck- it's a scarf. It's hard to tell with my shitty ass photo. It was just a photo before I grabbed my coat and dashed out the door for some party stuff.

The scarf- yeah, probably won't do that again. It was October, and therefore cold. I was trying to add some detail to the dress and not be so cold. It didn't pan out well.

Hey, that was me.

That wasn't really how the thread happened, but people were pretty determined to carry out the usual snowflake routine.

Someone did tell me to cut my hair off, I replied saying it was too drastic, especially since one of the pictures had my virgin hair in it for the most part - it's just like that, and I know at least 2 others with my hair like mine who've never touched bleach. The problem was more with doing my roots than damage, plus my hair is naturally resistant and easier to style when bleached. I've been dying my hair for 8 years so I know what fried hair feels like. People kept throwing a shit-fit whenever I pointed out anything like this and that's when the thread got bad.

People referring to me as male very early on and kept doing so after I corrected them, pointed out I was female.

It's also not true I didn't listen at all. I've since dyed my hair back my natural colour, bought a conditioning mask, getting my hair trimmed soon, ordered a wig and clip in ponytails to help thicken my own hair. I bought makeup for countouring too, but the problem is that I've been caking it on to hide shadow, so that problem should solve itself. I'm getting a petticoat and I'm looking into dresses that might suit my style better, maybe Otome or just general colourful street fashion. I still like those dresses and want to wear them even if I'm a crap lolita though.

I can't do much about my face except wait for hormones, and definitely can't fix my frame. I know parts of my appearance I can't help partly figured into the reaction and it's not really fair.

I appreciate the advice from those who really wanted to help, but there were more than just one or two rude individuals. It was a mistake on my part to go to /cgl/, but I was hoping I'd just get advice on dresses, which was what I was looking for. Being trans you can end up as everyone's doll and you get a lot of conflicting advice, so it can be very fatiguing.

Some cosplayers/lolitas actually do that, but it's understandable why some girls would hate the idea and be hurt by the suggestion. If you have a sensitive scalp it can be a nightmare too. My mother was bought a wig when she was on chemo and she wasn't really able to wear it.

I think having short hair(maybe a short bob, not a pixie) is probably better if you intend on being a lolita/cosplayer though. It's also easier to dye it different colours without destroying it.

Just to clarify, I've been to the endocrinologist I'm due to start hormones next month(hopefully), I've been diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria, and I've been doing laser for the last couple of years(still not fully clear, but finally getting to the point where I don't have to shave every day).

I haven't put as much effort into being female yet as I intend because I don't pass that well(and am thus not 100% full time), but it's not as if I haven't been trying at all. Laser in particular is very painful so it makes me giggle a bit when a trans person is accused of not putting effort into it.

Look, you may think you're being all edgy expressing your opinion but people don't let things like this happen without doing real research into it. Your own personal anecdote is irrelevant. The success rate for surgery is over 90% - and keep in mind that "regret" tends to be partial regret, or just feeling it wasn't worth the time and effort for a change most people don't even see.

The condition you're describing is completely different to transgenderism which is well documented and seems to have a strong neurological basis. You can't cure it anymore than you can cure autism(not that it's anything like autism either, just saying that it's on that level of hard-wiring). Some people do have body dysmorphia and do get help and get over it.

Gender Dysphoria though, is not the same thing. It is scientifically distinct from dysmorphia. Nobody will tell you otherwise that isn't a fringe quack or heavily funded by a religious organisation. What you're recommending is on the same level as ex-gay therapy and it doesn't work.

People who "disagree" with transgenderism 9 times out of 10 aren't in possession of all the facts. So yeah, people who actually have a clue what the fuck they're talking about probably should be angry at you.

I was asking for advice on dresses and was getting far more criticism towards my hair/makeup. Do you not see how it might just be a *little* bit more difficult getting dresses to fit perfectly if you're trans? You don't even have a consistent body shape since it changes when you're on hormones, so even custom made stuff isn't all that useful.

If you need to hide beard shadow, you often end up having to wear a level of makeup that can be unflattering on most people. Some skin textures/colours will get away with this better than others, it can be hard to get the right tone. There are more expensive alternatives that can look better at this, but they're expensive. /cgl/ is used to cosplayers who are particularly skilled at looking like dolls, the average transwoman isn't going to be that good at it and might not be able to afford expensive primers/foundations, and probably hasn't even had someone show them how to apply makeup in the first place. Being trans is expensive enough already.

Laser in face is different to laser on other parts of the body. That's also an exaggeration. The idea that being female inherently means more effort than being male and anyone who thinks otherwise is a "snowflake" is pretty sexist in of itself. Being trans you have to put in a lot more effort than the average person to look female, it's not fair to expect people to always work far harder because of their situation when they have a lot of other things going on as well. There is definitely some sheltered middle class white girl syndrome going on here.

For the most part, they are just Taobao resellers.
