I am starting to collect the books. I frigging love the Romantic Jewels Gentleman book, so gorgeous. Well worth what I spent and the image in the book isn't cropped like what I found online so I could make my costume even more accurate.

Honestly, if I feel like something is a bit more than I want to spend, I just sell something I don't really want anymore and it evens the score.

You should. I'm planning on doing one or two this year if I can. Sweet Potato Pie for sure and possibly Pumpkin Pie provided that I can get into the shape I want to be. No way in hell I'm showing that much thigh without working on their present lack of shapeliness.

Does this artwork of Sakizou's have a name by any chance? I think it's from the Romantic Jewels artbook.

OP here, Problem with me is most places don't ship to my country and it looks like the artbook is pretty hard to find. If anyone can scan me this one page I'd be forever grateful just in case I can't track down a copy of the artbook.

Yeah, I was really lucky to get both those two directly from sakizo so it was pretty cheap. Buying them second hand is almost impossible!

Just a FYI there's apparently going to be a shitton of Sakizo cosplays happening at Katsucon in a few days. From the looks of who's said they're going, it could be a total attention whore-fest but I'll try and nab some photos and post them if this thread's still up Friday.

I ordered her new artbook from C83 Delicious Girls. It should be arriving to me any day now.

Unfortunately, though I'd known about her for years, I never realised that her site sent you to somewhere you could buy the books from overseas. I only found out maybe a few months back and felt like an absolute dope. Still, the collection is growing. It's not JUST sweets, but there are a lot of "event" foods. Each page is a different month, with a dish that fits that month (Christmas Cake/Stollen in December, Pumpkin sweets for Halloween, Osechi in January).

I've been doing the same since I found Alice Books, but I found several rare ones on auction, so I kind of did a splurge all at once and bid on all three.

I'm very fond of some of her fanart. I have been cosplaying Yuuka for a while and I was thinking of doing her version. It's just so elegant and floofy.

The site I'm looking at only shows a couple of pictures from each book. How many pages are usually included in a book?

I wish I knew more Japanese because I'd like to understand the theme of each book better.

Each book has between 10 and 24 illustrations. It depends on which one you get and how it's laid out. As for the themes, the covers usually do a good job explaining it--Girl Meets Sweets (+/2) are all dessert-themed illustrations. Afternoon Tea is desserts and types of drinks that you'd have during a fancy tea service. Delicious Girls is a bunch of "seasonal" treats and dishes. Romantic Jewels is all birthstone themed. Parfum de la fascination is a mix of things, with the idea that each image represents a "fragrance" by that name. La Cirque is all circus imagery, etc.

Delicious Girls is themed by month. Each month is a dish that is commonly consumed during that month (Chocolate for February, Curry for August, Pumpkin sweets in October). Sakizo Art Works is an anthology of works. No real common theme, just lots of pretty pictures. This includes four images done for a Mobage phone/card game, some fanart and a page of sketches.

I think Delicious Girls would probably be better, and month/food theme sounds cute.

Sakizo Art Works includes those things. It has 17 pages of full illustrations, plus the sketches, covers and small illustrations on the interior pages. Delicious Girls includes 12 full illustrations plus 12 pages of corresponding "menu" illustrations of the actual food items, plus covers and a bonus sketch page.

I hope that makes things clearer, I'm kind of bad at describing these things and had to count pages just now to be sure I was giving you an accurate description.

Just adding this bit: all of her books are relatively small. They're printed on a cardstock of sorts and thin enough that they're bound by saddlestitch (stapled twice along the scored spine). I've taken a photo, just so you can see how thin they are for your own reference. Let me get it off the camera and I'll upload it.

To be honest, I prefer the structure of Delicious Girls with its menu layout. It's obviously meant to be a cohesive work, leading from one month to another. The little illustrations of the foods that match the girls appeal to me on the whole comparison level--you can see the food itself and how she designed the resulting costume using elements from the dishes. It has a pretty good variety of designs, too. Not everything is one particular style of dress.

However, because the other book is an anthology, it has slightly more variety of imagery, which may appeal more. It also happens to have two of my favourite illustrations/designs from her (Juliet and the Mad Hatter).

Also, while I don't have enough of her books to confirm each image in the Sakizo Works book, I'm pretty sure that they all appear in other volumes. At least a few overlap with other artbooks of hers that I have.

This thread is so much sighing. I would love to cosplay a sakizo girl but I'm too shy and not confident enough with my body to show so much skin and I'm old so I'll just sit here pining away. I guess some of the Girl Meets Sweets girls are kind of conservative but the sexy ones are more fun (pic related, BJD wearing an Apple Pie outfit since I couldn't find a good pic of the original art).
