Say I wanted some metal work done, How much would it cost roughly and who would I talk to about getting it done?

>> No.6613187

For a prop or what?

>> No.6613192

>>6613187
forearm guards, shin guards and some flat-ish pieces for a mask

>> No.6613199

>>6613192
Most cons don't allow metal armor.

>> No.6613208

>>6613199
The idea was to have the forearm and shin guards under clothing, The metal pieces for the mask would of been under a thickish material so if turned inside out it would of be easy to fold.

>> No.6613215

I would avoid metal altogether because they can and will kick you out

>> No.6613492

if it's for a con, you will most likely be kicked out as they do not allow metal armor

but if it's for other hobby use then I suggest asking >>>/diy/

Under clothing? To what end?

>> No.6613570

>>6613199
Not even true. Metal weapons, yeah, metal armor, no. I've never been to a con that has had or enforced this rule.

Shin and forearms guards, Take a guess.

>> No.6613651

>>6613492
most cons don't even check armor, they always assume it's not metal.

If you want it for a cosplay, why bother when it's under clothing anyways?
If you want it for armor, why bother when there's better materials for armor?

>> No.6613957

You couldn't afford it.

That's not even a dick statement, go ahead and find someone who does metal work and ask them.

>> No.6613990

>>6613939
What are your suggestions for materials better for armour?

>> No.6614621

metalworker/welder/machinist here.

......OP is a faggot.
Inside clothes? Use plastic sheet, fucktard.

1. Apparently cons don't allow metal (which I learned from this thread)
2. If you need plate, there are a lot of other options for rigid metal. Aspiring propmaker here, so post what you need and I may be able to help out.

Metal armor IS extremely expensive and time consuming. This guy isn't being a dick either, he speaks the truth.

ideally I'd like something that would function like Wonder Woman's bracelets

>> No.6615568

Where did this "cons don't allow metal armor" idea come from? Is that an east coast thing?

>> No.6615603

This whole thread is dumb. Metal is pretty stupid to use for armor, BUT cons don't usually ban it as such. What they ban is live steel, IE, metal that is or can be sharpened to an edge.

Usually that's referring to weapons, it can refer to armor if you're dumb enough to leave thin exposed edges that can hurt someone, but most sane cons aren't going to bat an eye at armor. Its just expensive, heavy, and kind of unnecessary for anime armor.

>> No.6615612

>>6614816
When a convention policy refers to "live steel" they are referring to weapons and other objects that could cause someone bodily injury. Nobody at a con cares if you wear metal armor. Just ask the Monster Hunter or Dark Souls cosplay communities.
