So question, I havent seen this in any of the photos here, but often when I see lolita's post pictures of their rooms (and not even for like showing off their rooms in an LJ com or on here but sometimes a friend just showing their new poster or something on facebook) I see dresses hanging on hangers on the wall. And I'm wondering why is that?

I'd assume some folks were maybe just planning their outfits ahead of time, but I see it quiet often that I'm really wondering. Any one got an explanation for the hanging clothes on the wall thing?

But my grandma is so unfashionable! All polo shirts and khakis and sensible shoes. I prefer to take my fashion inspiration from her insane collection of old porcelain dolls, which incidentally are a nightmare to clean. Just like my wardrobe!
Anyway the 'grandma' insult it so weird. Is it supposed to make me feel bad? Grandmas are great and all the old ladies I know have great taste in furniture, if not always in clothing (since they tend to go for practicality over style, and I can't blame them). It's like people can't find anything real to insult so they go for the first association that pops into their head.

Ok /cgl/! Here is my room. Behind all those sweaters next to my futon I have a small library area.

My plan so far is to paint my back wall (which in case the colors are wonky in my pictures, are currently split light blue on top light purple on bottom) a subdued, single color, or maybe use some kind of wall paper, and to use that fabric in the top left picture to make curtains out of to hang over my black out shades.
I'm taking out those stairs and replacing it with a rolling library ladder. Most of the stuff crammed back behind my stairs is either leaving the house or going into either my closet or my attic.

I'm going to take down most of my posters and get a couple of them (mainly ones that are rolled up right now) framed and properly hung up instead.

Other than that I need a better place to put my sweaters (Probably in my closet?) and better necklace organization, and I want some way to dress up my loft itself. Maybe some kind of a scalloped edge? I'm not entirely sure.

I'm mainly asking for general decoration advice right now. I'm obviously not looking for super decked out straight up lolita, but I'd like it to be cute and vintage looking when I'm done with it.

ok your room looks a bit juvenile, so Im assuming you want to keep it "cutesy& light themed".
first off, you should paint all the walls the same colour. "accent walls" are hit and miss and your room is pretty small so it will help open it up. Maybe a nice light colour (baby blue), nothing super bold.
I agree, get rid of the posters and junk from your walls but maybe put in some more shelves to display a little bit of collectables. Also get rid of the hanging blue thing and the blue and white stripy thing.
The couch & battle station is fine, maybe add some pastel pillows for the couch
Storage i'd get something not plastic. You don't want to see the outline of the junk shoved in them so maybe something like these

get some white trim and paint it a cream colour and add some "weathering" if you feel so inclined.
also your mirror looks pretty rough, consider getting one (from a thrift store or something) with a frame you can paint and you can add stuff like this for style (pic related)

blue and white thing meaning the fabric choice for the curtains? I think you're right, unfortunately. I really like the fabric but maybe it wouldn't really fit with the theme I'm aiming for in my room.

and yeah the fabric is pretty brash so if your going for whimsical if you really like it and dont want to get rid of it you could maybe try adding some lace/chiffon/thin drapey material on top of it. Also consider getting new sheets
Also if you first focus on organization & storage of your stuff you'll have a great base to build your room on. I would also consider putting the old stuffed animals away and adding cute stuff or maybe some string lights under the bed frame & above the window.
But yeah thrift stores are your friend if your going for an antique light theme, if your cool with maybe painting stuff.

Please try to have an actual conversation about this like mature adults. Neither of you is completely irrational or in the wrong, so you should be able to work this out. I've personally been on both sides of this issue. Him leaving his shit everywhere is annoying, but you moving it around so he can't find it is also annoying (especially if you can't remember where you put it). Maybe he can restrict his mess to certain rooms or certain surfaces, and you can restrict your kawaii desu decorating to certain rooms and certain areas.
You are not different species or from different planets, you are (I assume) adults, and you speak the same language. Conflicts like this are by no means inevitable.

Actually I made it! It's just a $20 LACK coffee table from Ikea, with a old comforter. I just measures out where the legs of the table screwed in on the comforter and cut holes accordingly so it would slip in over the screws when I attached it to the top of the table. (If that made any sense, I'm terrible at trying to explain this, oh god)

Oh, I agree completely. That's why if you noticed the blanket under the table is super thick. It's actually just a really thin blanket, with a thick piece of tempur-pedic type memory foam under neath that was from my old bed. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to sit on the floor for long periods of time. That, and a super comfy pillow.
Doing this is very common and traditional, they actually sell mats that are made for just that.

I so wish I could decorate more. Living in fairly temporary accommodation at the moment, can't paint, can't change majority of furniture, no point in buying accessories due to possibility of international moves. Alas and alack a day D: But I do have a boyfriend who is happy with however I want to decorate provided he can pick what angle the TV screen is at. Right now I've contented myself with wall stickies and nice bedding.
