I haven't updated the spreadsheet in quite a while since there haven't been much to do on there minus add a few more SS that aren't as well known.

I talked to Taobaoring and they explained to White Moon my situation with the stolen dress and they remade the dress just for me, but they hardly had any fabric left, so the dress I get will be a size XS, which my already thinself won't fit thanks to my bone structure... But I'm hoping for the best! Also, white moon, is very unreliable when it comes to domestic shipping. I had been waiting for almost 2 months and they hadn't even shipped to Taobaoring yet! However, I won't receive it until mid or the end of March because I'm going to be using SAL.

I hate that everything I had is shipped (14kg) BUT White Moon Lolita's stuff, because White Moon has no fucking idea on how to ship stuff in a timely matter to the SS. You're welcome in advanced c:
I understand that mistakes happen when you have an international parcel, especially coming from China, whose post offices I assume are 10x more packed than the USA. The #1 issue that bothered me was not being able to get refunded. I know there would be no way I could have, because this was a mistake (or thief) done by customs' behalf. But really, having money going down the drain really sucks :/

Thank you, I hope it fits me too. And I'm going to try really hard to get as thin (not sickly) as possible so I can manage to fit it. It is my dream piece, but I am most terrified it won't fit.

But if not, I will definitely look out for you. No hard feelings. Do you have some sort of name/alias you go by? Just so I know who I'm speaking to if the time comes and the dress isn't fit for me?

I don't know why they took so long. I will ask Taobaoring when they resume their business. Because I wanted to split my package since White Moon's stuff hadn't arrived, I Emailed Taobaoring if White Moon's stuff would have before February 1st (when Taobaoring stops shipping). Then they Emailed me back that White Moon had never even begun shipping...

Then again, I don't know if it still works if it was only one item missing. Is there a complaint department for the Chinese customs? I googled it but it seems there are various customs centers and I don't know which yours went through.

No insurance, but I don't think it would matter because the package was opened up in China, and not the US. I Emailed the US customs and they told me it must have been China who opened and lost/stole my item, rather than them, because the US never opened my package, they just scanned it. Mine went through the Beijing China Post, because the tape said "repacked by China post Beijing" everywhere. All of my other packages were opened by China's customs, but nothing ever got lost. This package wasn't even my largest, but now I'm scared my current order (14kg), something will get lost >.>
Taobaoring couldn't do anything, because when one item gets lost, they don't have a "lost and found" center and China isn't nearly as organized as the US. I remember when I went to China and going to post office was... It wasn't a pleasant experience, and what I mailed never got to where it was supposed to go either.

And alright, Mei.

What you're doing only makes sense if the guitar will be a cosplay prop. Guitars are not clothes, you can't just choose one just because its the cheapest. It really depends on what you are buying. I'm a fashion student and I have to buy a fair bit of fabric so my pending order is for fabrics that are expensive to buy domestically e.g faux fur I got quoted £25 p/m when I can get it for around £4 p/m on taobao?
If you are a novice seamstress then I advise buying a load of calico from Ikea approx £1.29 p/m and practising on that as it's inexpensive and a great way to start learning to sew
Some fabrics it's essential that you feel the drape, texture, pile etc. of but you can probably buy the minimum measurement and then put an order in for more if it's suitable?
Also fabric prices within the UK depend on your location - if you're in a big city then the prices will generally be cheaper than a small village
If you live around London or the outskirts then I can tell you loads of cheap places to buy fabric if you would like?

I'm not too familiar with Leeds, I'll be up there in a few weeks to visit my friend so maybe I'll find something nice but here are some general fabric finder tips:
>Are there any towns/areas with a big immigrant population nearby? Particularly Indian/Pakistani etc. I can p much guarantee that there will be inexpensive fabric stores there! You will also find lots of great trimmings in a wide spectrum of colours
>Car boot sales. Not idea but alright for practice materials - don't buy anything that smells though
>Ask someone! All the fashion students will be advised by their lecturers on local fabric shops so ask them on where to go or ask a friend to ask them!

The first tip is the best though tbh it's never failed me before and the prices are usually dirt cheap to be competitive or able to be bargained down

Tried this in the last thread but it either really doesn't exist or I just posted too close to the bump limit and got over looked.

Quick question, does anyone know where I could find a black maxi skirt (not made of wool) on taobao that doesn't have an elastic waist band but a zipper instead? This is killing me. I've been looking for days and can't find one and I'm not sure if maybe I'm just searching under the wrong thing or what. The only one I've found wasn't quite what I really wanted.

I am so excited! Just few minutes ago the post delivered my first taobao package! I am willing to take pictures and review items, give links, the whole ordeal. I was too lazy to include a pair of shorts that look like a skirt (for my friend) and couple of scrapbooking items. I also did not get the large, white Rilakkuma head since it was out of stock.

I used pruany as my shipping service and the package was delivered to Finland.

Item weight: Pruany said 4,5 kilos, Finnish customs 6,5 kg. I might have to by a scale to weight the items just be sure.

- Total for items and their shipping within China: 123,4 USD (126 USD with paypal fees)
- Pruany's service fee:
9,87 USD (no paypal fee, since they refunded one item and I used the money from that to pay the fee)
- EMS: 84,72 USD
94,73 USD with paypal fee as well as cargo insurance (I was really nervous so, whatever)
- Customs fee:
24,04 USD

Pruany:
It took me a while to figure how their shopping system works, since to a total noob like me it seemed really confusing. I do like their cart a lot since you can add pictures and whatnot. Their english is not that good, but with my order they did get their point across and vice versa. I think that if you have a more complex order it might get confusing, but who knows.
They answer questions and message REALLY quickly, usually within the same day. They also ask you if you want a refund for an item that's out of stock or the said item in another colour. They did not take pictures, but I believe you'd have to ask them specifically to do that. Pruany packages shit TIGHT. Nothing's broken and everything seems to be in place, but I'm slightly worried if I had ordered something more fragile, since the package seems a bit soft?

Overall I'd say pruany is pretty good shipping service. Their english is a bit expressionless and the experience is not personal, but they are cheap(ish?), they answer really fast and their cart is nice.

>>6606126
Certainly. It might take me a moment to post pics since I have no idea where the cable for my camera is.

Rilakkuma head: The fabric is super soft! The head is really big and it was the largest item of my package. It feels a bit lumpy, but that might just be that it has been stuffed tightly with the other items. The seams are tight and no threads or stuffing are escaping.

Rilakkuma cardboard boxes: I have two of these, a small brown one and a large white one. Both are made from pretty thick cardboard. Super easy to assemble. The smaller one holds items about the size of cds, while the larger easily fits A4 papers in it. The smaller one is undamaged, but the large has few dents and folds that cardboard gets if it's bent. Nothing too major though.

Rilakkuma bento box: Though the picture has the smaller one, I decided to take the larger. Similar to the rectangular it has two clasps that hold the upper part down, a fork and a cute white triangular part that you can either use to divide the food in two parts, or take away. (I'll post a picture later). The material is super thick plastic and even the fork feels sturdy.

I used to live in Leeds.

Go to the market for fabric. There are three-ish stores inside the market building itself, which sell generic fare for a decent price - mostly cheap & cheerful, you'll be stumped for interesting stuff. The £1 bargain bins are great.

Sporadically, fabrics are sold in the outdoor areas, too. Those shops are only open for the day, but generally supply really interesting stuff for cheap. When the Indian Market is on in the outdoor area, you can get lots of sari fabrics and interesting beaded trims. When they're selling fabric other than that, the selection is more conventional.

There is also a fabric shop across from the Corn Exchange near the Travelling Man geek ephemera shop, a health food shop and several vintage clothes stores - don't know street names, sorry, but if you start from the bus stop in front of the Corn Exchange, cross the road and go up the obvious alleyway. You should have a little coffee booth and a vintage clothes shop on your right, and the shop on your left. They have a big fabric selection on the bottom floor, but it's expensive. However, the downstairs bargain rack is a treat - the remnants are priced individually and can be rather large, so don't knock it. They also do habidashery.

There are two habidasheries in the market, as well - one does more sort of scrapbook-type stuff, and the other does more sewing-orientated stuff. Both are pretty cheap. One has a big selection of lace, as well as some lace bargain bins which aren't ENTIRELY shitty machine lace. Also cheap felt, thread, etc.

Okay these are the ones I personally visit and regard as the cheapest/best value but there are a lot more:
>Berwick Street
This is the main stretch of fabric shops and are great for samples but not for actually buying the material unless there's something specific you are after. The majority only do samples at certain times and if the shop isn't too crowded - you'll generally be limited to 3-4 a person. I advise you visit alone if you're sampling because some of the shops get moody (especially Cloth House and The Berwick Street Cloth Shop). The only place with good value fabric in general is Borovick Fabrics but prepare to engage in some banter with the guys who work there, they have a 10% student discount as well.
There are loads of wholesale jewellers and trimming suppliers but some aren't open to the public. Again there's only one that in my opinion is affordable and it's called New Trimming's (Noel Street, Left turning as you walk down Berwick Street) it's run by this little Chinese lady and most of her stuff is from taobao but the reselling price isn't terribly extortionate so it's good for when you need things quickly!

>Goldhawk Road
CHEAP FABRIC EVERYWHERE ALL SORTS ALL KINDS EVERYWHERE
Go to Goldhawk Station and turn right as you leave, fabric shops are on both your left and right- average price is ~£4p/m for most fabrics
A-One fabrics also has a haberdashery up the stairs which is well priced.
The only thing about Goldhawk Road is that the shop owners can be really creepy so go with a friend or two because it can be uncomfortable
Shepherds Bush Market is on your left as well (you can't miss the sign) and it's great for haberdashery and bridal related trimmings etc. There's also some fabric stalls but they aren't that great.

>Ilford Lane
It's just on the outskirts of London and is a bit of a journey if you're not local but it's really good for cheap cheap fabrics (some are like £1 p/m)
Ilford Lane is seriously long but you get to a point where the fabric shops start to thin out and you can turn back.
You can try and haggle with some of the shittier shops (aka the ones that don't look slick and modern) but this will have varying effects depending on who you are
There is an A* trimmings shop called Braids n Buttons (Bedford Road, on your left as you walk down Ilford Lane) it's actually heaven and filled with laces, baids etc. in pretty much every colour under the sun! They have cheap general haberdashery bits as well like machine needles and oil. They different weights of fusible interfacing for like £1 p/m as well

This concludes my essay on cheap fabric shops! Hope some of this is helpful and you're welcome to ask me questions or w/e - sorry it's so terribly long hahaha

Things with logos or things that are designed exactly like something else with the same exact specific details. Things that aren't unique at all or have very basic designs don't count. Yeah, that's probably the case. Last parcel was released from customs after like ten minutes, and it was a lot smaller than this one. I'm doing SAL and smaller orders from now on.

Does anyone know how long Sea shipping takes to USA? I've never used it but I saw Taobaoring had it as an option and it's pretty cheap but there's no time estimation.

>> No.6611435

>>6611427
They wouldn't put a time estimation as sea shipping can really vary A LOT. I don't know about the USA, but I was told for the UK it can take anything from 1 month to 4 months. It will depend on how close you are to the coast as well.

They have a shipping time guide here which is p useful:

Oh jeez. I knew something that cheap had to have a catch to it. Definitely something I'd consider for the future though.

Thank you so much. I'm on the East Coast so I'm hoping that'll give me some luck.

I'd only recommend sea shipping if you're doing large item purchases like furniture. The anon is right that sea shipping can vary a lot.

That's really funny. The price is a little high for a hanger, though, unless it's one of each, then it's a really good deal.

Who knows, it's an endless cycle of reselling/stealing to resell on taobao and Urban Outfitters is WELL known for stealing indie designer ideas in the first place beyond even reselling Chinese stuff.

Does anyone want to do a joint order? I only want two things and I'd rather not pay more in fees and shipping than I'm paying in items.

>> No.6613022

Wow, my order arrived quite unexpectedly.
I used SAL and it was shipped on the second, so it was quite a surprise!
Usually SAL takes about a week or 2 for me from China to the Netherlands, but I'm not complaining.
Also, no customs fee, yay!
Everything seems to be in there, no items missing :)
I might upload some pics later but I'm in a rush right now.
Anyone interested in a review on Infanta's green Military jsk + cape set and Chess Story vest?
Also got some other stuff but I'm sure that's been reviewed/pictured a lot before (DoL vampire reqiuem and Infanta snow white bonnets and head bows).
