OP from the previous thread, thanks for starting a new one!
I saw it asked a couple times in the last thread, but no one answered:

If you know a good serum, please share with us.
Also, share if you've used any Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 products. Are they really worth that much money?

A couple weeks ago I got a sample of StriVectin-AR (NIA-114 + Retinol) Night Treatment. It's actually really nice. Although I haven't seen any improvements it claims as of yet, it does make my face incredibly soft in the morning even with such a small amount used. I don't really know if it's worth the $109.00 though.

I went to sk:n they're pretty rubbish if you ask me for giving useful advice, only good for laser hair removal.
When I asked about dark circles they gave me some cream, just their own brand version of the hundreds of eye creams available.

I found though with my dark circles it's due to me being low on iron,
so I take iron supplements, also other factors such as nasal congestion,
stress etc all contribute.

The biggest factor however...genetics, sucks but there you go.
In future I do hope to see a real Dr Dermatologist for my dark circles, however that isn't a priority for me now.

I've been using the Total Effects daily moisturizer for a couple of weeks! I really like it so far, it makes my skin feel really soft, and the sides of my nose aren't as oily by the end of the day as they usually are. I haven't noticed my skin tone evening out much, but I might not have been using it long enough. My pores do look a bit smaller though. I think it's worth it, but I think next time I'll get the one with SPF.

I've used the night firming cream a handful of times too, and my skin looks awesome in the morning. I just have a terrible time remembering to put it on every night, so I'm not sure how good it would be if I stuck with it a while.

How long did it take you to lose that much? What were your eating/exercise habits?

I'm a bit frustrated because I just want to lose fucking 5kg about 11lbs and I exercise,
control what I eat but nothing comes off.
All of this extra weight is concentrated around my mid-section.

Also to answer your question, your skin should bounce back, if you are young. I would recommend moisturising a lot, vitamin A (retinol) and C serums will help.

Derma rolling could help, I'm a little apprehensive of using this on myself at home, I would prefer to go to a derm for it.

Well due to recent lack of income I only eat once a day. It sucks, but the scale makes me happy. Before that, I was eating healthy. I do light exercises: jumping jacks and a session of Slim in 6 which contains a lot of squats/lunges. It took me about 2 months to shed off 25 pounds. I hear that losing that last bit you want is difficult! I'm probably the last person to give advice about weight loss, but I suggest "ministry of sound - pump it up!". I'm sure that tummy trouble will be gone in no time!

I'm 21 now, so I hope it'll bounce back. If you use a serum, which do you use? I barely know anything about this anti aging jazz.

21, it will definitely go back to normal, also,
it takes hundreds of pounds before your skin reaches point of no return, so you should be okay.

As for serums I don't use anti-ageing stuff so I don't have a specific one to recommend, it depends on your budget,
ROC / La Rouche Posay also Olay. Just look for retinol and vit K.

Also another tip since you're losing weight all over make sure your body is moisturised properly,
this helps skin retain elasticity, also dry body brushing does wonders with cellulite and lumpy bits.

I've tried their blotting paper, tested their makeup (lipstick and eyeshadow) and tried the black mask that works like a pore strip. The only thing I would really recommend is the black mask, everything else is noteably sub-par, so much so that it's actually a waste of money to buy it. I threw out the blotting paper after a week and bought proper ones from the drugstore, it was such a waste of time and money. Best anti-aging advice I've ever been given, aside from the usual "sunscreen, sleep, water"?

Moisturize your neck. It'll wrinkle as well, and can be a big cue as to your age, because most people don't take care of it as much as their face. I just smooth my face cream over it, haven't bothered getting into neck-specific creams but it seems to be working well so far.

>> No.6601725

>>6601705
Yesyesyes.
It helps to much to moisturize your neck, cleavage and hands. And use SPF! These areas are exposed to the elements nearly as often as your face is, but most people don't take care of them at all. So many older women (I've noticed it in women 40 and up) have permanent wrinkles and hyperpigmentation above their breasts, and it really ages them.

Currently I use my face products on my neck and body products on my chest and shoulders, and kind of blend them where they meet. For my hands I have special hand creams but they always get rubbed off during work, or end up all over my keyboard.
Does anyone have recommendations for hand cream that is very moisturizing but sinks in quickly?

That'a oval vs oblong, which I will admit can be hard to tell apart.

>>6600647
If the height of the face (hairline to chin) is about the same as its width (ear to ear typically) it's probably a round face. If its height is taller then it's an oval. If you're somewhere in between don't think about it too much.

>>6600728
Start wearing clothes that are more tailored. This doesn't suit and jackets and colared shirts, just clothes that are meant to flatter your specific body shape rather then a standard size off the rack that meant to fit girls from 12-15 who's bodies are always changing.

Also When I was 14 everyone thought I was going to College. When I was actually 18 people kept thinking I was heading into High School. No idea how that happened, it's just one of those things. I wear stupid tshirts and jeans now, but I'm an art kid and wearing nice clothes doesn't help.

I think the best tip I have is to not wear so much makeup. I don't think it necessarily makes you look like a hag, but people will often perceive you as more mature and therefore older.
I had really bad acne that nobody ever noticed because I was always wearing makeup, but people would always guess me to be a lot older than I was. When I finally saw my dermatologist they prescribed me medication and I no longer needed the heavy foundation. Lots of people say I look a lot younger now when I don't wear as much makeup.

So if you have skin problems I think your best bet is a dermatologist. And I was one of those people that tried everything to get rid of acne.

Best to sleep with your head at an incline, so fluids don't gather under your eyes, make sure not to drink a lot before

Lol I remember when I was a really young kid some korean celebrity (one of those "talent" actress/singer/whatever deals) claimed that the reason she didn't have any lines or wrinkles on her neck was because her entire family slept without pillows, to the point where if someone tried to sleep with a pillow the mother would ninja it away once the person falls asleep and let the person's head just drop and bang on the floor/futon in the process.

Cue entire nation of gullible mothers including my own waking their daughters up in the middle of the night for the next 2-3 months or however long it took them to forget about the bullshit advice.

I think aging is a natural process and you shouldn't overly fight it, and if anything it's unnatural that those celebrities claim to be pushing 40 and 50 without a wrinkle botoxed and plumped away.

Insofar as I can tell, all you can do is eat well, sleep well, don't tug at your skin too much and don't overexpose to the sun.

Can't say that I do, I'm reccomending kohl mostly because I grew up with the traditional kind made in India (as in actual burnt charcoal compressed on a stick...) that I let a friend use once and she didn't know how to get rid of it at the end of the day. I've recently acquired some Lancome eye shadows which I've been liking, but I don't know how it might effect your skin. You might want to check labels and see if there is any ingredient that is found in all those products that you may be able to avoid. It's a pain, but it might be better for you in the long run.

Oh and I can rec Arbonne. They're a general wellness company that's organic and they do have a line of make up. It's fairly new, so it lacks a huge amount of variety, but if you want something that's meant to be for all skin types, they may be your best bet. I've used their products in the past with success (it's only that I can't afford them and drugstore brand doesn't effect me as much.)

It wasn't for any particular reason (well, but mother stole it but that's because she needs like, 10 pillows to feel comfortable, especially now) and your body tends to realign. I sleep with one now and on my stomach, but I'm trying to switch to my back. I haven't gotten re-used to my dorm bed so I wake up aching...

Personally I think the sheets creating lines on your face is a bit of bull, but I actually want to prevent acne instead, so not rubbing my face on a pillowcase would be a good thing as well.

Guy here, stumbled on from 4chan's front page.

Just wanted to let you all know that this beauty stuff is a great finish but all you really need is good attitude and a healthy body/lifestyle to be attractive.

Not to say 110% doesn't rock.

>Insofar as I can tell, all you can do is eat well, sleep well, don't tug at your skin too much and don't overexpose to the sun.
This pretty much. Genetics plays a part in it too. I'm 31 and I really don't look it. I get mistaken for early 20's. I don't do anything special, just eating better, getting plenty of sleep, drinking water, not getting much sunlight (and using sunblock like crazy). I don't really use any special products and rarely wear makeup unless it's a special occasion.

I've noticed very tiny differences caused by aging, but it's really small differences I have noticed looking up close to my face at night (tweezing brows, washing face, etc) But I don't have any noticable lines or creases. I do have a nasal-lobial crease, but it's been prominent since childhood, so it's more of a genetic thing, I think.

I know this might be a strange concept, but for some of us a lot of this beauty stuff (especially when it works) is a confidence booster. Guys don't have to fret because there value doesn't get undermined as they start to show signs of aging (granted some guys do go through a crisis from early baldness, but y'all still have Sir Patrick Stewart who went bald in his early 20's and if he's not a sexy not-silver fox idk who is) so you aren't helping especially by posting a classy image of a dude who's older and still quite successful.

>in b4 dumb gender role drama

On a semi-related note, if I manage to make it to old age and I'm half as awesome as Maggie Smith, that might still be too awesome.

I dyed my hair last week for the first time in a while, and I've been using Redken Color Extend shampoo and unfortunately my color has already faded quite a lot. I'm planning to re-dye it sometime this week, but I really need some help finding a decent color protecting shampoo, and I have no idea what to use. Unfortunately I can't afford Pureology and the stuff that's near that price right now, or else I'd use that with no question. I figure I can probably spend $15 at the most for it. If you have trouble, Too Faced's "3 - Way Lash Lining Tool" (look it up on Sephora's site) is awesome at getting in between lashes without making a harsh/thick line.

Have your tried just pushing the liner into your lash line and not into the ridge under it? I tend to line both waterlines at the same time (close eyes, tip head back slightly and run the pencil liner back and forth) but sometimes I just take the pencil liner and push into the lash line with my eyes half open and head tipped back.

Otherwise maybe a gel liner using Wayne Goss's puch brush method? He says it can be done with any kind of eye shadow so long as you use the brush.

>> No.6610497

>>6610320
As someone with glasses, here are my general tips:
-Magnifying mirrors are fantastic in helping you see what you're doing
-Winged liner can look weird because the wing can kinda blend into the edge of the glasses frame. Actually, any really defined/sharp eye makeup looks odd as well because it's like a double border for your eyes, the glasses are like the outer border and then the makeup is another border
-Smoky eyes can look really good, pretty much anything that is more blended rather than...super defined
-Eye makeup seems to be less noticeable through glasses, so you can apply it quite heavy-handedly.
-If you have brightly coloured glasses, just be aware of clashing colours if you decide to do bright makeup
-False lashes may touch your glasses which is a pain in the arse, so watch the length of any falsies you use - go for thickening rather than lengthening.

I'm just going to say this now because your post is extremely misleading, but the woman in your images skin was not ruined by a derma roller but by the poor application of non-certified Hyaluronic Acid fillers.

A derma roller would not and COULD not ever do anything like that. If it's not sterile, worst case scenario, you get some spots.
I roll at home and have done for the last 2 years. The worst that can happen to you is you roll too vigorously and end up with red, burning skin for longer then usual.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to be afraid of derma rollers, they're completely safe.

Any tips for blackheads / large pores?

>> No.6616290

>>6614965
Get a blackhead extractor and, well, extract them. You could also go to the dermatologist to get this done, but it's something you can easily do yourself and save a lot of money. The tool itself will be a maximum of like $12, probably cheaper, at a drug store or a Walmart.

Salicylic acid washes and gels really help me with my blackheads, too. I find that if they won't come out with the extractor, putting a high percentage salicylic gel on it overnight will either make it disappear completely or be ready to come out.

Large pores is a different story... That's way more of a case by case basis when it comes to results. I notice that high end face serums help me a lot when it comes to reduction in pore size, but I spend upwards of $200 on my product, and I know that's not a viable solution for most people
