The most important thing to remember is that casual lolita is still lolita. You still need to do your hair and makeup and you still need a petticoat. Casual lolita is not an excuse to wear sneakers and no petti and a frumpy band shirt.

girl on the far left of this image.

I have always assumed that this is what *real* casual lolita is. Still looks good, but not as strict.

Thanks!

So for casual lolita, you still need
>makeup/hair
>petticoat
>appropriate shoes
>legwear

Can bare arms be shown? Wouldn't a blouse+skirt combination be regular lolita and not casual?

Here's some examples of what I would casual lolita. Some may disagree with me, though.

Basically:
>no wig or VERY natural wig, simpler hair style
>simple headwear
>cutsew instead of blouse
>more simple legwear (nothing with crazy elaborate prints)
>few accessories

Still very obviously lolita, but much more simple.

Are (plain color) creepers with casual lolita a no-no?

Creepers are a no-no. Unless done VERY VERY well.

Would wear this.

Would this be a good route to start at for a beginner lolita?? *loves the fashion but after some research, still doesn't know where to start*

I agree with this. Although I would also add that you still have to wear a petticoat with your outfit. Maybe a flatter petti than you might wear with a more dressed up outfit, but you still need a petti to get the right skirt shape, otherwise it stops being lolita.

Thank you!! I thought these were just regular sweet lolitas so I kept getting it confused.

I always thought creepers were acceptable in lolita?

Yeah I know it's an old entry, but I think it's still relatable.

you can do it if you know what you're doing but most of the time, it just looks bad/tacky

What about docs? Are there any good examples of creepers/docs done well? I probably won't go down the creeper route but was just wondering. Also, not really a casual lolita question but would docs be okay in a military theme? or should one just go for lolita boots?

I've seen docs look cute. They can work in military or punk themes, and the colored docs can be worked into some sweet coords.

It helps if you get one of the pairs with a heel or some other detailing.

Cutsew instead of a blouse. Maybe a less-poofy petti. Natural hair (but it's still got to be styled, and your makeup done). Go easy on the accessories, avoiding head-eating bows, bonnets, etc. Wear "normal" shoes that still have a girly or retro feel that works with lolita; ditto hosiery.

Or at least this is what's worked for me. I wear classic, and often look at otome coords to get ideas--a lot of details can translate into casual lolita.

I'll do my best to post some, but some might disagree with my choices! Feel free to pipe up and say why it isn't casual lolita
Casual lolita sometimes blurs between the line of otome
