Newbie here, sorry. Wondering if anyone has an idea how I can replicate these so they aren't metal and esentially con-friendly? Thank you so very much if you can help.

Does the con you're going to not allow metal of any kind? Because that's weird. Usually as long as it's not sharp, it's fine. I don't see dowsing rods being able to be used as a weapon, other than poking someone.

Stick some rubber covers (erasers?) on the ends and you're set.

I sort of doubt you'd get caught for those, and besides Otakon is so huge that the chance you actually get caught for needing peacebonding on something fairly innocuous is slim imo.

You can get straight steel drill rods in small thicknesses that can be bent as desired.

I don't think your con is going to outlaw a small metal wire. The "live steel" policy is referring more to steel weapons and such.

there's a tool to do it properly (especially important if you have a tube instead of a solid rod) but at least at my local hardware store they will bend stuff for you

Wire coat hangers. They're coated with rubber already, just glob some hot glue on the ends and shape so it's inconspicuous to cover the sharp bits and spray silver.
